Somecompanies may have specific individuals to handlerelations in the community, such as charitable or volunteerworks.Media Relations: This may be the function for whichcorporate communication managers are best known.Media relations work includes writing and distributingnews releases and responding to media inquiries.Corporate communicators oversee all planning for newsconferences, including selecting the site for an event,arranging for banners and other graphics to be displayedat the event, preparing packets of information todistribute to the media and preparing executives tospeak at news conferences.Crisis Communication: When an event occurs thatthreatens public safety or a company’s reputation,corporate communicators function as advisers to CEOsand senior leaders in managing the crisis. Specialtraining in the issues unique to crisis communicationhelps corporate communicators prepare for events suchas chemical spills, violence in the workplace, anaccidental death on the job, layoff announcements andallegations of company wrongdoing.Public RelationsBuilding relationships with customers and responding toinquiries from the public fall under the public relationsfunction of corporate communications. Duties in thisarea include producing newsletters, brochures and otherprinted materials designed for the general public.Functions‘Corporate Organisation’ means an organisation formedby some people, having a separate entity and perpetualsuccession. A company, statutory corporation, co-operative ventures, etc. are considered to be corporateorganisations because these are registered and haveseparate legal entity and perpetual existence.As per the above mentioned report it has been concludedthat business communication plays a prominent role inevery business.
