The Deepwater Horizon crisis had devastating effects on the environment and community. The spill damaged ecosystems, causing extensive loss of marine life and affecting the livelihoods of people who depended on fishing and tourism industries. The crisis resulted in a huge economic loss, with approximately 250,000 jobs lost and many more affected by the shutdown of local businesses. As a manager, I would focus on environmental initiatives such as waste minimization and sustainable resource utilization to provide long-term benefits to stakeholders. Additionally, employee welfare programs and awareness campaigns would be implemented to support the community affected by the crisis.
