INTRODUCTION
Zoo Victoria operates three world class Zoos Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and
Werribee. Main aim of firm is to become the world's leader in Zoo-based conservations. The
report will cover general and specific external environment and its impact on business. In
addition, corporate social responsibility and ethics managed by Zoo in 2017/18 will be discussed
in this report.
TASK 1
Theory about the general external environment
General environment is also known as mega environment which is a crucial segment of
external environment. It only refers to broad conditions and trends in societies in which a
business operates. There are factors of external environment such as legal-political,
technological, economical, socio culture and international. These factors are beyond the ability
of a single business therefore, they cannot influence in the short run.
Factor for analysis
Economic element: Prevailing economic conditions have an impact on Zoo Victoria,
management practices (Kaspi, 2017). Economic factors such as interest rates, changes in per
capita and inflation affect the success of business. For an example, economic elements (large
bank loans) may decrease income of managers working in Zoo Victoria which will ultimately
lower the services.

General external environment factors had a large impact on organisation especially in
2017 and 2018 but changes are also slow and more predictable (Pauling, Lankford and Jackson,

next major development to complete the journey of looping with the help of Lian Gorge. In
addition to this, sustainability focused wetland is also opened at Healesville Sanctuary. In 2017,
launch of When Balloons Fly, Seabirds die community conversation campaign. In May 2017, it
is announced that Zoo will host the national geographic photo Ark exhibition at the Zoo's
Leopard Lodge.
In addition to this, the firm is also seeking efficiencies to engage in licensing
arrangements with overseas suppliers without any regards to working situations and human
rights issues of workers working in the Zoo of these suppliers (Squires, 2015). The firm shows a
