Stated commitment
Google LLC is committing that this company will smartly use the resources of the Earth and
creating products by considering the planet and the people on their mind
(Sustainability.google, 2019). This commitment of corporate social Responsibility of Google
has helped them to have the best reputation.
Past performance
In 2017, Google has reached 100% renewable energy for conducting global operations
(Sustainability.google, 2019). Data centers of Google use 50% less energy than any other
typical data centers. Moreover, Google has conducted different CSR activities that include
Google China social innovation cup for college students for providing them scholarships. In
2008, an earthquake struck in China. Google provided funds in construction of schools.
"Google grants” is a donation program that provides free AdWords to charitable
organizations (Google.com, 2018).
Major issue
This firm has also faced some CSR issues in recent past. In 2018, workers of this firm
protested because they are releasing a censored search engine in China. This is raising ethical
issues that can hamper reputation of this firm. Protest inside own company can hamper the
process of public relations and other operations can be hampered. Launching of censored
search engine can go against the ethics and moral beliefs of this company.
CSR and sustainability comparative analysis
In terms of CSR and sustainability, Google is renowned for its contributions. CSR programs
of Google are helping in social development. For example, they have developed
technological resources for underrepresented and underprivileged children. Aim of this
company is to help these children in education and learning for preparing a skilled generation
for the future. Based on international expectations and standards, current CSR effort of
Google is satisfactory (Panmore.com, 2017).
This company focuses on sustainability. Apart from other government and non-government
authorities, Google estimates their impact on the environment itself and take initiatives to
make it minimum (Notesmatic.com, 2019). They are committed to using the Earth's resource
smartly without harming others.
Ranking of company
Google LLC has performed different CSR activities like providing a donation, framing
friendly policies for all its stakeholders and others. According to reputation institute's global
CSR RepTrack 100 rankings, Google has achieved the number one spot. Google's

commitment to society, becoming an equal opportunity employer has helped them to achieve
the highest rank in CSR.
