INTRODUCTION
The report is based on critical reflection on the basis of counselling a person who has addicted
for having alcohol. Also, it will explain motivating interviewing theory in order to relate the
situation with same as this theory Dislere & Vronska, (2019). Further, critically analysis the
situation in which client are suffering from manty problems regarding friends and family. The
study highlights the skills which I will use while start demonstrating the situation also understand
the emotion of the client towards self-evaluation and some of the key features will discuss on the
basis of this approach. Moreover, see some of the high-level changes which are improve the
problem of client which she is facings. Lastly, included the self-critique while providing
counselling to her with the help of peer reviewed.
MAIN BODY
The approaches which are used for developing the counselling approach such as
motivational interviewing. The motivational interviewing approach is used for client cantering
counselling that are eliciting change the behaviour in order to helping client for resolving the
ambivalence Civitillo, Badra & Schachner, (2019). On the other hand, this theory is help for
effective treatment approach that are related to the range of mental and emotional issues of
health including depression and anxiety. The client is my friend who is 35 years old and feeling
down and gloomy and start thinking negative in this situation she has come to me for getting
counselling about it.
Along with this, support and develop discrepancy are help for interviewing to know about
his life and cultural that she has follow. For example, it is analysed that client are changing the
behaviour and making own choices for start drinking alcohol. I asked her about the goals of his
life and what she wants to become than I have realised she is very skilful person because of
situation she has doing such things. Also, this principle is involving for counselling the pointing
and discussing in order to our previous behavioural for success of life. In which it has been
critically analysis that client has remind about the behaviour which she has done after start
drinking alcohol. The last principle is related to developing the autonomy in which I have
demonstrate for client use the authentic power that are need to change from the counsellor. It has

been emphasizing that there are some of the change which are expecting from client’s family
side in order to changing behaviour.
Being an IT technician, it is very bad to have that kind of habit so with the help of support
self-efficacy client that are feel capable for achieving the change. According to motivational
interviewing I have analysed on the basis of some principle that is related to I have expressing
empathy towards the client first of all she is my friend and second one he needs counselling
about his life that is why I have shown empathy to her in order to build rapport Costa, Castaño-
Muñoz & Kampylis, (2021). From this I get idea about how client has uses active listening in
order to reflecting principle of practices.
It has been contradicted that this theory has worked effective for the client because this range
helps in the situation of emotional and mental issues. It aims for helping and identifying the
challenges in order to using different types of strategies. I have used transferable skills for
understanding the client because she was not able to understand the situation. The psychological
problem which she has faced some of the problem related to anxiety, depression, irritation fears
etc. Frost, Coles & Pollock, (2018). I have provided some of the therapy which are help for using
this approach in order to treating anxiety that are increases the performance as well as stressful
performance. In this I have identified that some of the problem that are identified in such order
assessment that has all the questions regarding the problem which are related to distressing
symptoms. Also, I asked about what kinds of skill they have and then I realised that he is
successful person but because of the habit she gets depressed. Some of the major problems which
are related to goal setting. Among both of the approaches the major relatable approaches are
motivating interviewing because that was working well for the client as well as she was
comfortable while using that approach Watt, Furlonger & English, (2019). Some of the questions
which I have discussed with client what skill do you have? what you want to achieve in life etc.
We have discussed major skill which are important for the technical person. She was being good
at software development I motivate her to be busy with work and make money for the family
Gagneur, Valiquette & De Wals, (2018). I have suggested her about reading books which are
help for expanding knowledge as well as it will be working well for the individual.
Being a role of practitioner, I would like to say that there are different types of
approaches which I have used for the client in which I critically analysed that some of the
important skill which I have in order to interact with the client I speck polite while communicate

with her because she gets arrogant after some time which can be affecting any time. In the
relationship building I have asked some of the general questions which I have discuss and past
experience so she feels comfortable while period of session. On the other hand, I have discussed
some of the negative point which are necessary for the discussion. The negative energy in the
person starts when she gets depressed and feel something bad Goupil & Kouider, (2019). Then I
understand about the problem which is related to depth explorations and she start drinking
alcohol. Further, I have realised that session was good but it is important to analysed all the skill
of the client Sue, (2021). There are some of the stages which are followed by me in the session
such as relationship building, problem assessment, goal setting, counselling intervention,
evaluation & termination etc.
At this time, she has thought family and friends are also important but addiction work against
her. I have realised motivational approach has the limitation when the person is in trauma this
approach will not going to work because at this kind of situation the client faced bipolar
conditions and schizophrenia also the client not wants to motivated to see the change and can
create the problem. There are different opinion and personality of the persons which can be
working well. On the other hand, this approach was help the client for help her to know about the
responsibility as well as actions which are need to take by client for their family and friends. In
context to this case I have analysed that there are it is helped the client for encouraging for
envision or future free substance Karwat, (2020). Also, the main outcome which are get from the
client side are related to the increasing the physical acidity at the gym or in natural environment
which are help be familiar with everyone and help to divert mind. Also, it contributed for having
healthy drinks or juices in order to avoid alcohol.
The specific skill which I have identified from the client side are he was passionate about
his work but due to some negative thought she has change his track. I have played different types
of games in another session because I just wants to check his IQ in this process she got pass and
all the answers are correctly given by her. Some of the major skills used by me during the
provide her treatment active listening this is necessary to actively listen the client in order to
know about her and observe her by verbal listening. At the same time, I have asked her about his
husband who is drink socially with or without her but it is not enough she has felt bad because
she had lost in her life and not get proper way for how to stay away from all the problem Crane,
Kangas & Nwiran, (2019). In all this conversation I have realised that she was suffered badly and

it is important to make her comfortable with the help of positive talking. All the process the
client has realised that I have good skill in eye contact, self-confidence and the voice quality
need for an improvement. Further I replied her between the conversation such as I understand,
go on, I agree, I see all these words are make the client comfortable and showed her that I am
active with your point Lanaj, Foulk & Erez, (2019). Then, self-awareness that is also most
important for gestures, body language, facial expression etc. all these factors are affect the
willingness of the client while sharing personals information. Also, I have more focus on that
kind of skills so that client not get bored such as eye contact that is most important while taking
to someone and it helps me in order to showcases the power of active listening apart from
undivided attention Jee & Ghazali, (2020).
According to the session it has been analysed that the client herself is very extrovert in
order to explaining about her life which is not as good as I thought. I have asked about her
interest in which she said that she likes cooking because it helps her to be withs her kids and it is
motivating by making delicious food. Her kids appreciate the cooking while she had cook great
food for them. I can relate this strategy with motivating interviewing approach which are help for
making extrovert. She felt lost because she had less options for doing goods things which are
help for cooperate with each other. I suggested her to doing yoga or prepare more exiting and
delicious food which are help to feel positive and the vibe given by kids are more positive than
others Magill, Tonigan & Moyers, (2018). It has been contradicted that I am very bad the facial
expression because I confuse at some period of time what kind of expression a person needs but
at the same time I have only I get blank expression which are not like by the client. Also,
gestures and body language are important for building the professional relationship with the
speaker. Along with this, I always focus on the body language since I was new in this field. I
don’t want to corporate with the client so that she can comfortable with me. Furthermore, the
communication skill one of the major part for being provide good response. I always try to
communicate in a polite way so that client gets the clarity about my thoughts. According to the
case study I have realised that client was very comfortable with me while discussing all the
scenario. The current issue face by the client is more and more stress which need more session
for counselling and helps to become introvert. She has many friends including gay friends all are
helps to motivating her while depressed. Being a good counsellor is very important and then
client understand about what kind of situation she has faced. Then I have used proper

questioning session in which client has discussed about everything in the questions. Basically,
the power of observation or non- verbal behaviour for the client heling for better understanding.
At some point, individual are uncomfortable while sharing something critical so I have observed
in such a polite way and passed her water so that he get ready to share something at that time
(Mifsud, Stephenson & Astin, (2020).
There are some of the positive ways in which I can counselling with the client and being
non-judgemental attitude. On the basis of case study, the client was not able to share his views
and thoughts but at the same time I have realised that there are some of the major skills which I
have to use so that the client will comfortable while sharing all the things. I have showed some
empathy that are help in the reflective learning so that he was developing the discrepancy which
are help to complete the goal of the persons. it is very important to provide positive environment
to the individual who has need for the help and wants to away from all the problems. In this I
have identified that some of the problem that are identified in such order assessment that has all
the questions regarding the problem which are related to distressing symptoms Holden, (2020).
I have realised that client have learnt a lot with the session and after that she was start mediating
and having healthy food which are very important for the client side. Some of major problems
which are faced by the client are resolve due to this session and she thinks positive and help to
become best person for their family and friends. Motivational interviewing approach are help for
become good person. their family and friends help her for corporation and share positivity. this
approach is working well for the client as well as it helps to get better knowledge (Savinainen,
Heikkilä & Joensuu, (2020).
I start managing the fix time with all the individuals and then helps to get free from client
side. This approach is It aims for helping and identifying the challenges in order to using
different types of strategies. I have used transferable skills for understanding the client because
she was not able to understand the situation. I have taken feedback from the person’s family side
and then I realised how my therapy is working for her Ebing, (2019). I have also use social
media and some debate which are help her to change the mind set and become happy and it has
working. It has been critically analysed that it is important to uses easy language for the person
who has expected to come for the treatment Kozan, (2020). I was bad at time management when
I treats other client she gets angry and get disturbed that type of behaviour are not allowing her to
do good for me and in response she start shouting at family members. After some time, he gets

relaxed and then realised that this is the opportunity which are help her to do so. The
psychological problem which she has faced some of the problem related to anxiety, depression,
irritation fears etc. Slepcevic-Zach & Stock, (2018). I have provided some of the therapy which
are help for using this approach in order to treating anxiety that are increases the performance as
well as stressful performance.
CONCLUSION
It has been concluded about the client who has facing the problem of adducting fir
alcohol and trying to leave this habit but at the same time I have used motivation interviewing
approached for help her to understanding the situation and the nature of the client. It has been
explained about skills which I have used while counselling and also analysis the skills which she
has and related to that’s approach. Further, I critically analysis on the reflection of that’s
situation when I have faced positive and negative element in the therapy.
