Psychological counselling is an important factor in today’s life. Everybody in today’s
life are victims of some kind of the other psychological distress or mental illness (Murdoch,
Gregory & Eggleton, 2015). In today’s cosmopolitan world, the modern men and women are
always under some kind or the other mental pressure and distress (Maree, 2019). In such a
situation, counselling becomes a necessity. In generic terms, many people can define
counselling or psychotherapy as a personal and individual process where a trained
psychologist seeks to offer emotional, psychological and cognitive assistance to an individual
or a community to change or modify their attitude and/ or behavior so that they can cope with
certain mental illness or psychosomatic illness (Moodley & Palmer, 2014). In the globalized,
cosmopolitan world, counselling has taken different forms and shapes and it is not only
limited to individual counselling sessions. People are hiring counsellors for social, vocational,
health related, developmental and organizational concerns as well. The particular article is an
analytical essay of psychological counselling of a patient called Chelsea because of her
increased anger while she doesnt understand the reason behind her short temper. The
analytical essay delves into the societal problems Chelsea faces due to the reason why she
developed certain psychological issues and the way by which that can be coped. The essay is
analytical and also intuitive because it delves deep into the personality traits of Chelsea and
tries to understand what sort of human being she is and what kind of counselling advice
would be better for her to cope with her life and mental illness.
The clinical and generic meaning of psychology is multidimensional and multifaceted

world of growing tension and competition that are sometimes fueled by certain social evils,
human beings tend to become skeptical about life and psychological illness such as
depression, anxiety disorder and bipolar disorder creep in the life of the individuals that
reduces the quality of their life. Such issues need to be dealt immediately with the help of a
mental health professional who needs to be compassionate, an unprejudiced observer and a
stoic listener who will delve into the problems of the people and find out solutions against it
(Bor & Watts, 2016). Psychological counselling has become a part of the normal life
discourse of modern men and women. It has become an indispensable tool for the present
generation to feel balanced and at ease with all the complexities they go through in their life
regarding education, ambition and personal life.
Chelsea’s case formulation
By profession Chelsea is a graphic designer. She is imaginative and has a creative job
which means she has a strong creative bent of mind and therefore, she has opted that as her
career. However, as she is very unfortunate to find less opportunities in this area, she is
taking up administrative jobs which is not her type of job. Even if she is getting freelance job,
she is not contented with her career. Thus the work is making her unnecessarily worn out and
drained. Cheslea is also unhappy and unfortunate in her personal life. She has been facing a
lot of unpleasant and undesirable acts and behavior from the part of her family members. As
she has never seen her real father, her mother, who is married to another man, who has two
