therefore, an individual can share anything with the counsellor. It enhances the mental health of
the people, along with this counselling is affiliated with the main aim which is to serve the client
in best possible manner (Sisko, (2021). The current essay is based on performing the reflection
of counselling video. The reflection will be performed in critical manner. Also, ways in which
therapeutic relations has been established in the video within linking it to the session and
literature will be done. Furthermore, Demonstration of the counselling micro skills in the session
will be done. Moreover, with reference to the counselling model it will be analysed that, how
effectively counselling has been done in the video.
MAIN BODY
Analysing how effectively therapeutic relationship has been established within providing
examples from the session and reference to the literature
Therapeutic relation is being determined as the interactive relationship with the client in
which the complete support and care has been given to the patient. In the session, I have
analysed that there was therapeutic relationship is being established. The major elements that are
needed to establish the therapeutic relationship has been witnessed in the counselling session.
The major aim of therapeutic relationship is that, client feels comfortable and can easily
share everything. Counsellor must be non-judgemental as it increases the involvement of client.
Thus, while analysing the counselling video, I have analysed that, client was sharing everything
with counsellor without having fear of judgement (Nagy & et.al. (2022). Also, she was
comfortable at that time. This clearly states that the major aim of therapeutic relationship which
has been studied in the literature is being witnessed in the session.

However, it is also important to manage the self-emotions by the counsellor while
conducting counselling so, the client does not become more emotional. In the session the
counsellor has managed self-emotions in effective manner which has resulted in providing
support to the client. Therapeutic relationship is the fundamental process in the counselling
process as it enables the confidence of the client which has been seen in the video. There were
certain moments in which client was uncomfortable however, counsellor has developed the
environment due to which she felt comfortable. She was highly anxious and her anxiety has been
reduced due to the effective interaction has been developed with the counsellor (Flaskas &
Perlesz, (2018). Thus, it has been proven that therapeutic relationship has been effectively
established in the video session as in accordance with the therapeutic relationship in counselling,
the client feels highly comfortable and shares everything with the counsellor and same has been
reviewed in the counselling session.
Thus, I have identified that proper care is provided to the patient undergoing the therapy.
Therefore, therapeutic relationship has been addressed and undergone with the patient. With the
help of such positive communication and interaction which I had with my counsellor, I was
aware that I am feeling very relaxed and comfortable with the counsellor. This has made me
focus more on the positive aspects of the interactive session which was scheduled with my
counsellor Okamoto and et.al., (2019). With the help of this video session, it has been analysed
that the therapeutic relationship has been addressed for evaluating the perspectives related to
undergoing the counselling session. It is analysed and identified that the therapeutic relationship
is the basis which is related to analysing the concerns for which I was not aware and this
described the concerns regarding the preferences which have been diagnosed within the video. I
was very comfortable with the counsellor and shared everything with them.
It is also analysed from the video that the client is feeling comfortable and with the help of
this, it has been identified that there were also certain points which depicted that the client is
facing some problems and issues while communicating and is being uncomfortable. The live
video was very helpful in depicting the concerns related to analysing how effectively and in
appropriate manner Kocsis & Yellowlees, (2018). There are concerns related to how the
therapeutic relationship is maintained. The counsellor must be patient so that they are able to
analyse and identify the problem what the client is having and this also helps in determining the
points related to addressing the important points within the counselling session which has been
conducting counselling so, the client does not become more emotional. In the session the

With the help of this therapeutic relationship there are concerns related to analysing and
addressing the points which are how the client is interacting with the patient so that the
communication and conversation is productive and positive towards achieving satisfaction on
both sides of the corner McCarthy, Zilcha-Mano & Barber, (2019). There were these major
elements which were observed through the video and this helped in stating the perspectives
related to how comfortable the client is and is ready to share everything on the basis of
concerning the key points and listening patiently to the client and the problems. This is the basis
of how effectively and in appropriate manner the therapeutic relationship is able to create value
for the client and is able to addresses the key highlights through the video.
Demonstrating the counselling micro skills in the video session
Counselling micro skills helps in analysing whether the session has been conducted in
effective manner or not. These skills are comprised of joining skills, Active listening skills,
responding skills and clarifying skills. If all these skills have been present in the counsellor then,
the process of counselling becomes more effective. In context of the video session it can be said
that, in very well manner the counselling micro skills has been demonstrated by the counsellor in
the video (Neophytou, (2021). The empathy towards the client has been shown in the video,
when the client was sharing about her emotions and family issues at that time, counsellor has
shown empathy towards the client within listening the issues of client in efficient manner. The
non-verbal communication of the client has been attended within supporting the sentences of the
client.
In the video there was situation in which client was not able to communicate in proper
manner at that time counsellor has provided support to the client and the sentences of the client
has been also supported. This depicts that the micro skills of counselling have been used in
appropriate manner which has resulted in developing effective interaction between the client and
counsellor. It is important to greet the client and behaving in genuine manner as it develops the
sense of belonging in the client and then it becomes easy to share the issues. While watching
video I have identified that, the professional counsellor has used genuine behaviour pattern and
greetings to the client has been given. I was feeling so nervous while watching the video as the
the problems and issues are solved.

greetings to the client has been given. I was feeling so nervous while watching the video as the
situation was so critical. However, reaction and response from the counsellor has vanished the
fear and this also proved that, counselling has been taken in consideration in proper manner.
The major scenario in which I have reviewed the micro skill was when I have found that,
counsellor is using open ended question which is easy to answer and with the help of this the
situation of the client can also be identified. Thus, the evidences from the video proves that,
counsellor has used all micro skills in efficient manner. Coming towards first skill which is
joining skills, this has been reviewed in the session as the counsellor was engaged with the client
in effective manner and often helping space has been prepared. Greetings and welcoming of
client has been assured by the therapist. Reassurance is the key element in joining skill,
reassurance to client can lead to gain the faith of client and same has been done in the
counselling video session. The client has been influenced in terms of sharing her story and
therefore, client has shared her story with the counsellor (Ntshuntshe, Gqeba & Gqeba, (2020).
The non-verbal communication of the client has been supported by the counsellor. Thus, all of
these evidences proves that, joining skills has been used by the counsellor while performing
counselling.
In context of listening skills, it can be said that it is aligned within listening the thoughts,
issues and opinion of the client so, the proper understanding with the individual can be
established. In the video session I have identified that, counsellor has effectively listened the
client and understand the body language as well. In the video, when client has said that “Her son
and husband are angry and they are scared as well” at that time client was emotional and
counsellor has provided space within listening to client. The counsellor has use the minimal
responses which is again proof of the active listening skill used by the counsellor.
In regards to demonstrating the counselling micro skills in the video, I have analysed that
there was proper reflection of the content which helped in analysing and collecting the
information which is also known as paraphrasing of the context. I also observed that reflection of
the feeling was also properly framed and determined within the process of counselling session.
These are referred to as responding skills which have been observed within the video and in this
session. This is the process of summarizing which is determined in the context of how effectively
the major points are considered and are noted in the counselling session Bettergarcia & Israel,
(2018). The counselling micro skills are very important which helps in addressing the key points
related to how the skills are important. There are other skills which are also important in the
fear and this also proved that, counselling has been taken in consideration in proper manner.

process of counselling and these are mentioned as clarifying the skills, this helps in addressing
the key concepts related to effectively evaluating and discussing the open and closed ended
questions, prompt and clarification questions, the problem with understanding the why questions
have been analysed within the context of how effectively and in appropriate manner there are
key concerns related to the handling and preparing the counselling session in effective and
appropriate manner.
These are the important skills which are mentioned and are concerned with effectively
analysing the key points addressed within the counselling session. I have also identified that
these skills were important and played specific role in understanding the problem the client was
having and this helped in analysing the concerns related to addressing the key points related to
the skills which are needed to address the case through the video.
Which aspects of Egan skilled helper model were able to demonstrate effectively in the video.
There are different types of models, accessible in the world, that a counsellor or individual
person utilized to achieve the strategic aim and objective such as to help other, overcome critical
issues Ertelt, Schulz & Frey (2022). Egan’s skilled helper model is suitable in the case of current
video, where counselling session has been organized between counsellor and a fellow student.
The current chosen model encompasses some key aspects that in turn provide desire outcomes to
service provider and user. In the counselling video, each essential and useful aspect of Egan
skilled helper model is effectively demonstrated. For example, exploration stage is the first
essential aspect or part of the chosen model, which clearly visible in the counselling session. As
the counsellor attempt to find out what is recently going on with the person, whom they provide
the best counselling session, to heal the pain they feel and attempt to overcome, in appropriate
manner, which might be challenging for them to do that. During the overall session, student has
been attempted to listen to what counsellor said to her with empathy and patients, which make
service provide capable to understand the behaviour and issue, which they face from short or
long term period. The efforts between both parties are clearly visible, which defines the stage of
building safe relation, so it become easier for counsellor and service user to reach desire results,
which is important and beneficial for both of them. Under the exploratory phase, more aspects of
the model have been demonstrated effectively such as open communication. It is quite essential
for counsellor to conduct practice of open ended question, because it give them clarify about at
the key concepts related to effectively evaluating and discussing the open and closed ended
questions, prompt and clarification questions, the problem with understanding the why questions

impact on their happiness, livelihood and other things negatively.
Another aspect of Egan skilled helper model that were be appropriately demonstrated in
the video is understanding Eryılmaz & Bektaş-Aydın, (2022). For instance, from the counsellor
side, client is encouraged to state what they need and desire to obtain in term of respect, facility,
and other things that might be helpful to overcome the stressful life. After passing the first phase,
counsellor also effort to develop good understanding about the situation, which service user is
facing, because it gives them chance to set the objectives, which enable them to proceed further
in form of providing better counselling. Empathy is the most important part of current aspect,
which means service provider such as counsellor show some empathy toward the service user,
that is important for them to do that. Along with that, between the both parties, there were some
supporting activities has been founded such as counsellor were asked about the solutions to the
client, like what they want to do and what are their expectations.
The key third aspect that were also demonstrated in the video, related to the Egan’s
skilled helper model is acting. At the last phase, counsellor provide some suggestions to the
service user and encourage to develop key tactics, which they can utilize to achieve the goals in
form of happiness, respect and empathy from the family members, like husband, child, etc. they
also encouraged them to implement the possible and essential actions, which make them happy
