Wireshark Lab: NAT v7.0
Introduction
Wireshark a packet analyzer tool used for network analysis. This tool
captures the network packets and display the packet data detailed format
(Nainar, Ramdoss, & Orzach, 2018). By definition a network analyzer is a tool
that measures and examines what happens inside a network’s cable, switch,
and router and beyond the router. Wireshark is used in network analysis for
the following reasons (Sanders, 2011):
i. Used by the network security engineers to examine security problems.
ii. The network administrators use Wireshark to troubleshoot network
faults.
iii. Used by the developers use the Wireshark to debug the protocol
implementations.
iv. The Question&Answer engineers use this tool for verification of
network applications.
v. Used by learners to learn the network protocol internals.
Note that the last use is relevant to our task, that is, Wireshark will be used
in the analysis of NAT processes taking place during the forwarding of
packets from the LAN to the WAN (Chappell & Combs, 2012).
Objective
In this we will be investigating the behavior of NAT protocol as a packet
traverses between the LAN and WAN. Wireshark will be the main tool that
will be used in this task. Trace labs form two different sides will be
investigated. That is, inside (LAN) and outside (WAN).
Results and Analysis
Question 1
Solution: The IP address of the client is 192.168.1.100

Question 2
Solution: The http returns no results but the ip.addr==64.233.169.104 gives
the result below.
Question 3
Solution
The originating IP address is: 192.168.1.100, the source port is: 4335
The destination IP address is 64.233.169.104, the destination port is 80

Question 4
Solution
The time that corresponds to the 200 OK http is 7.158432000 seconds.
The originating IP address is 64.233.169.104, and the source port is 80
The destination IP address is 192.168.1.100, and the port is 4335
Question 5
The SYN Time is 7.075657000 seconds
The SYN originating IP address is 192.168.1.100 and the source port is 4335
The SYN destination IP address is 64.233.169.104 and the destination port is
80
