INTRODUCTION
Coronavirus has affected different countries in different ways even now the countries are
suffering from the pandemic (Agyei, 2021). This report will provide the major aspects of
important statistics and the facts and figure on the comprehensive economy, healthcare, social
life, employment of the residents of the UK. Apart from this, report will also include the
different aspects from which this data is driven.
TASK 1
Impact of the COVID-19 on the UK
The pandemic start with the first COVID lockdown in the month of March 2020 which has
adversely affected the employment conditions in the UK. There was a high rise in the
unemployment and economic functioning with the high fall in the employment.
Between the month of January to March 2020 the number of work people fell by 825,000 and the
same for the month of October to December 2020 (Fallon and Boutilier, 2022). Thereafter the
employment rose by 400,000 and 327,000 were economically inactive. This reduced the number
of working hours of the premises which by the lowest since 1994. Here the unemployment
benefited the claims the people got almost double in the month between March and May 2020.
Impact of the COVID-19 on the Health Care Sector
United Kingdom has been affected adversely by the pandemic, As the data tells just one
third of the population were able to take the access of the hospitals and their services when the

services were needed at the on a high basis. We can categorize this by the different waves of the
COVID 19 (Kurniawati, 2020).
First Wave (Feb 2020 – Sept 2020)
The first wave of Covid 19 pandemic come with the tested healthcare services across the UK

There were increase in the recovery of the elective care with the focus of retention of the
staff, recruiting and training. Still the government of UK found very difficult for the
medical services.

Impact of the pandemic on the economy of United Kingdom
During the time of COVID 19 government of all the nations got involved in saving the life
of people by lowering down the spread of the coronavirus for which government took
tremendous steps with implementations for the well-being and major economic functions (Obi
and et.al, 2018). During the time of March 23, 2020, United Kingdom declared the lockdown, to
control the effects of pandemic COVID 19. During the month of August, the monthly gross
domestic product was grown by 1.4% between the months of July 2021 and August 2021.
Furthermore, the GDP remained the 0.8% below its growth in the month of February 2020. The
GDP then raised of 0.3% on the monthly basis in the service sector. Due to tremendous change
in the country more than 7.6 million of individual’s employees are seen as they are now in
trouble because of employed by different employers. All this impacted the GDP and there seen a
30% decline in the GDP along with 20% decline which was provided by the Office of National
Statistics of United Kingdom (Shin and et.al, 2020). This also affected the business segment of

Impact of the pandemic on the Social Life of United Kingdom
When UK is taken into consideration COVID has affected the social life so tremendously.
There are many changes that come forward in the social life of the people of UK. Following are
the changes with the statistical data with the change in percentage (Suleimen, 2019).
Around 70% of the people were found wearing the mask or the face cover when they
were outside their home.
Around 60% of the adult working people absolute travelled to work which is quite low
than the past two years.
Around 40% of the people were found for always keeping the social distancing in the
public places.
Around 45% of the adults were found that they had taken the rapid lateral flow test in the
previous period.

Effect of coronavirus made the people worried about the effects of the pandemic which
indirectly or directly affected the life and the lifestyle of the people.
COVID had increased the cost of living by 90% (Váraljai and Nagy, 2019).
The price of food, gas and electricity bill was all among the common in the increase.

The above report has been concluded that United Kingdom is in the stage of recovery by
practising several methods like social distancing, medications they are now recovering from it.
