INTRODUCTION
Covid 19 ( SARS COV 2) is a acute respiratory syndrome. This virus is capable of
causing mild symptoms like cold or severe moderate diseases called respiratory illness.
However,some patients might require medical attention due to this virus(Afanasiev and
Afanasieva, 2021). The contribution of travel and tourism industries is almost 6.7% to the UK
GDP. Due to this virus the government has to impose some restrictions on travelling. They put a
travel ban on all the passengers from other countries which impacted the tourism industry for a
large period of time. In this report there will be discussion about the impact of Covid 19
pandemic on the UK tourism industry and brief analysation about various challenges which is
faced by this sector.

Coronavirus or some researchers say Covid 19 is an infectious disease which is caused by
(SARS COV2). It's affect is different on every individual some people might experience mild
symptoms and however some patients need medical attention (Félix, García Reinoso and Vera,
2020). This virus directly attacks on the lungs and it can cause several respiratory problems like
pneumonia and ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). Eventually, shortness of breath
is the most common reason and due to this the person could face these severe problems. Travel
and tourism industry has almost contributed 6.7%to the UK economy. In 2018 their tourism
industry generated 145.9 billion British pounds to the GDP of UK. Then after sometime the
outbreak of the pandemic started initialising. The government imposed travel restriction in the
country which impacted this industry. All flights were cancelled due to nationwide lock down
which was imposed on 23 march and after that when the pandemic was over the government has
given some relaxations(Kaushal and Srivastava, 2021). The British government has introduced a
mandatory 14 days isolation for the travellers who entered in the country in order to stop the
impact of coronavirus. In 2020 according to the survey the UK government has lost 37 billion
from lack of tourism due to fall in both in international and domestic travel markets. However
due to this pandemic it has brought particular changes in the hospitality venues in regards to
hygiene. Due to this pandemic lots of issues in relation to life has been faced by the individual.

This give rise to the decline in the business and major of the services sector due to the stoppage
in their working. This pandemic not only affect the hospitality and hotel industry but also affect
the airline and travel business industries. The whole tourism industry has been affect by this
pandemic in a very immense manner(Khalid, Okafor and Burzynska, 2021). Due to the situation
of this disease the higher authorities of the nation have to stop all the entertainment as well and
leisure practices. This result in that the tourism sector has to encounter different issues and
abiding disclosure in few these cases. Along with this behaviour of the society people has been
changed as they prefer to stay in their home and follow the proper hygiene methods. At the time
of COVID 19, government of the nation only give permission to open the supermarket and
groceries stores in order to meet the necessary needs of people on continuous basis. All the fun
practices has been comprises in the tourism industry in which society members do their in free
time by exploring the different areas. The arisen of COVID 19 has made a bad conditions all
across the globe and this is still going on in the different areas of the world from the past 2 years
and this also effect the tourism industry by declining in their income.
The tourism industry is being considered as the most important industry which contribute
in the economy of the country. UK is well know for their attractive destination which attract lots
of tourist. According to the research it has been analysed that the tourism industry of the United
Kingdom contribute around £105 billion euros in their economy and along with this they also
develop around 2.5 million employment opportunities for the their people(Nagaj and
Žuromskaitė, 2021). The tourism industry is very crucial for UK because this generate major
revenue and develop employment opportunities for the people of Britain. The top industries
which enjoy the benefit of tourism are accommodation, transportation, entertainment, travel,
recreation, food and beverage. The needs of tourist has been fulfil by the tourism sector by
providing them several services of transportation. In addition to this the tourism industry is being
considered as one of the topmost industry in developing career of the individuals and developing
employment options for the suitable candidates. The sector of hospitality is play a very important
role in the development, as these industries assist in generating more and more income by
increasing the involvement of people their services. Due to the higher involvement of the
individual in the leisure practices in the UK, this sector is being considered as the most growing
industry and on the top in England. In addition to this, this also help in achieving all the goals
and objective of the company by providing accommodations services to the business in order

tom travel form one nation to another nation for their business work. Between the time period
from February to April 2020 a decline around 98 % has been seen in the traveller. Along with
this in the month of May 2020 tourism has been decreases to around 26% in comparison to the
February. This effect the people of UK in a very negative manner because this make them
unemployed(Okafor, Khalid and Burzynska, 2022). The entire economy of the UK is depend on
the tourism industry as the people of UK and all across globe more focus on the leisure as well as
fun practices. The country is tempting the visitors from the different nation of world. Individuals
from all across the globe visit the towns and cities of the countries in order to explore. The
Europe is well known for its heritage sites and this significantly help in growing the economy of
the country by giving its contribution. It has been observed that this pandemic highly impact on
the tourism sector which result in decreasing in the contribution towards the economy. Due to the
restrictions which are imposed by the government of the UK on aviation and travel industry the
number of visitor has been decreases to around 98 percent. Along with this, the services which
are offered in the tourism sector has been negatively impacted because of the restriction in
travelling from one nation to another nation. The travelling of individual has been affected
because of the lock down which decline in the use of transportation services offered by the
airline industry(Rutynskyi and Kushniruk, 2020). The arisen of COVID 19 give an outcome that
lots of travel as well as accommodation company has been wind up. Between the time period of
April to June, around 21 % employment in the hospitality sector has been reported to decreased
if it is compared with the similar month. People between the age group of 16 to 30 have to loss
their jobs due to this a major breakdown in the employment rate has been seen. This time is act
as a crises for the business owner as they have to face the issue of giving the wages to their
worker without earning any profit. Business owner are not able to face the expenses because of
the restriction in the sales. The ability of making the revenue has been decreases which result in
decreasing the economy of the country(Vărzaru, Bocean and Cazacu, 2021). The impact of this
pandemic was very essential to the idea that it would generate effective time to overcome from
the losses that need to be face at that time. It has been find that, during this time loss of billions
of money has been reported.

From the above report it has been concluded that the tourism sector of the UK and all
across the globe has been highly impacted because of this COVID 19. the economic conditions
of the nation has negatively affected. Due to this pandemic not only the travel industry but also
hospitality industry has been impacted. Different types of issued has been faced by the tourism
sector like close down of the business, termination of the various services. Along with this,
unemployment rate has also been increase because of the losing the job due to this pandemic. In
order to overcome from this, the government of UK and tourism sector of nation continuously
increase the awareness and involvement of the people in the different tourism activities. Along
with this new pricing method has been adopt by the tourism organisation in order to increase
their customer base.
