There are various services which are offered by the hospitality industry, some of the services involves- lodging, food an drink event planning, travel and tourism, recreation and many others. The global pandemic, COVID-19 has been a major source of creating an adverse impact on the overall economy and hospitality industry has been undergone through various changes as well. Trinity hotel is managed by Mary Daly which has been operating for around 20 years. The hotel chain is operating inIreland, Europe, UK, US and beyond. The hotel groups is offering food, accommodation, food and beverages through which they can attract the attention of tourist. This essay will throw lights on the impact which have been caused due to COVID-19 on the hospitality industry. The paper will define the impact on employment opportunities and how the pandemic has influenced the employee life cycle. MAIN BODY The global pandemic has been responsible to create an impact onthe overall economy and hospitality industry is one of them which have faced economic downturns due to the pandemic. As the pandemic have been affecting a number of people, this has been responsible for making hospitality business face various consequences (Arachchi and Gnanapala, 2020). The pandemic has been responsible to create disruptions in the organization which made the companiesinhospitalityindustryfacevariousissuesandthishasalsoinfluencedthe employment opportunities of the organization as well. The global hospitality industry have been influenced by the global pandemic and this has made the industry face decline in their profit margin by 11-29%. According to the World Travel And Tourism council, the global pandemic is responsible for creating for creating a huge impact on the employment opportunities and this has resulted into fall in 502 million jobs all around the globe which will take time from recovering from such consequences of the pandemic (COVID-19: Impact on the hospitality workforce, 2022). This pandemic has been responsible for making business face various crisis and this has been difficulty for the industry to manage their recovery from such heavy loss. COVID-19 has 3
triggered the economy and employment opportunities have been scarified which resulted into incline in poverty, lesser payments, lack of employment opportunities and poor living standards. According to International Labour Organization (ILO), around 2.5 crore people will lose their jobs due to the pandemic ad this will hamper the livelihood of the person and of overall economy (Lama and Rai, 2021). This can be evidently seen that COVID- 19 has severely influenced the global pandemic and this made the people and the overall economy face poverty line. Due to decline in employment opportunities, this has been affecting the living standards of people and leading to poor quality of work life. The sudden emergence of COVID has weakened the positionofcompaniesoperatinginhospitalityindustry.Theglobalpandemichasbeen responsible to push employment opportunities away which has been responsible to hamper the growth of industry. In case of Hotel Trinity, the pandemic made hotel terminate some employees through which they can sustain their hotel in such difficult times. It was hard for organization which to sustain within industry amid COVID, where the employment opportunities also got declined due to guidelines and conditions of authorities and government. In relation to Hotel Trinity, the pandemic has been responsible for reducing the workforce due to unstable profit margin of the company.Duringthepandemic,HotelTrinityrespondedbydecreasingtheemployment opportunities which resulted into job gaps which were increased till 75 million in 2021 and is expected to fall to 23 million in the year 2022 which can be due to stable business environment (COVID crisis to push global unemployment over 200 million mark in 2022, 2021). This made hotel face huge financial crises which resulted into decline in employment opportunities and led to poor employee work life balance. The hospitality industry has been completely shattered due to the rising impact of COVID-19. This has been the major source of decreasing the employment opportunities in the pertaining sector. Whereas, the companies operating in hospitality industry has been offering employment opportunities in different domains through which they have been serving the society for offering relief and shelter to the society from the adverse impacts of the deadly virus. The employment opportunities in the hospitality or hotel industry has been increased where the employees are serving the society in order to meet the needs of time and ensure safety precautions are offered to each citizen. Amid the pandemic, this has resulted in decline in financial resources and cost of the companies operating in hospitality industry which is due to 4

Due to COVID-19, this has changed the approach of business and made hospitality industry and other business face challenges in modern business world. Therefore, the employee life cycle has also been disrupted due to the global pandemic and many unforeseen changes has been undergone in the companies operating in hospitality industry. The management of Hotel Trinity has driven various changes in the plans, polices and procedures of the organization which has been critical for managing the touchpoints of employees within the organization. In order to understand the impact of pandemic, it is essential for hotel to evaluate the impact of employee life cycle which will allow the management in offering quality work life experience in the organization. Due to rapid transferability in the global pandemic, this has been very risk for people to join workforce and this has been a reason behind incline in remote jobs. Amid the risk of COVID-19, this has created more opportunities for remote working position which allows companies to gain access to wider talent pool in such scenarios (Martins, Riordan and Dolnicar, 2020). On the other hand, the risk of transferability has also increased the virtual business activities and due to this the hotel needs to connect with employees through virtual meeting and such factors leads to lack of communication and interaction which can create an impact on the performance and productivity of employees. The companies operating in hospitality industry has been going through various changes due to the unstable business environment and this is responsible for creating an impact on the overall employee life cycle. As the major advancement in technology, this has also been 5
changingtheworkingpracticesofcompaniesoperatinginhospitalityindustrywhichis responsible to create positive as well as negative impacts on the performance and productivity of employees. Whereas, the positive impact can be seen through development of more opportunities of business growth and ability to face competition. On the other hand, due to lack of skilled workforce this can restrict the organization in managing the workplace and their knowledge of adopting advance workplace practices. The global pandemic has crafted a huge impact on this stage of employee life cycle which is attracting employees. Due to shortage of labour and lack of employment opportunities, the companies are offering low profile jobs and wageswhich has been unable to attract the attentionof employees and affected their interest and increased unemployment rate as well (Siow and et.al, 2021). On the other hand, the pandemic has been responsible to crate a significant impact on therecruitment strategies of business where the companies are more inclined towards conducting virtual recruitment which can lead to lack of communication and poor understanding and connectivity. Some of the major issues w has been faced while opting virtualrecruitmentandthishasbeeninfluencingtheinterestofemployeeswithinthe organization. Due to COVID-19, this has been creating scenarios which makes hotel business struggle in retaining the employees. Such challenges lead to incline in employee turnover and poor organizational culture. Employee resourcing is termed as the approach followed by human resource management through which they can ensure that organization can obtain and retain their human capital through which they can ensure employee and organizational productivity. The functions of the practice of human resource management focuses on recruiting and releasing human capital fin rte organization (Zhang, Xie and Morrison, 2021). This practice will be helpful for Hotel Trinity for managing the performance and potential of employees through which they can enhance the organizational productivity and proficiency through which they can retain greater number of employees which plays a valuable role in development and growth of the hotel. In context of Hotel Trinity, the advancement in technology will encourage hotel to follow innovative approaches of resourcing and development through which they can connect with larger talent pool and create highly skilled workforce which will bring value and innovation to theorganization.Throughbringingtechnologicaladvancements,thiswillbehelpfulin developingnewapproachesofperformingactivitieswhichwillassistthecompaniesin 6
developing the competencies of employees which will be helpful for the hotel to improve their performance within the industry. As the global hospitality industry have been thriving due to the negative impacts of pandemic, this can be managed by following various practices. In case of Hotel Trinity, the company can adopt cloud technology which will be helfpul in remote working effectively. This will also help the hotel to manage and control their operations from anytime and anywhere easily (Zopiatis, Pericleous and Theofanous, 2021). The Hotel Trinity can also attract travellers by promoting attractive offers at lower prices which will be helpful in attracting tourist at greater number through which profit margin of the organization can be increased. By following strategies which can be helpful in ensuring protective measures are taken by the company will be helpful in building trust and rebuilding the hospitality industry. CONCLUSION From the above report, it can be concluded that hospitality industry has been rapidly growing and offering a wide range of services. As COVID- 19 affected many industries, hospitality industry have faced some serious issues and consequences of the pandemic. It can be states that the global pandemic has been responsible for creating a positive as well as negative impact. Whereas, the hospitality industry has majorly seen the negative consequences which lead to economic recession due to COVID-19. This pandemic has also negative influenced the employee work life balance and productivity. The pandemic has also influenced employee life cycle which has been hampering the performance and growth of organization. 7
