INTRODUCTION
Covid-19 a severe disease that is caused by its new strain corona virus, the acronym of
the word covid is “co” means corona “vi” stands for virus and “D” is for disease. The exact
origin of virus is still unknown, it transmits human to human. It affects the whole world as
millions of people lost their employment, financial loss, economic loss, public health, food
systems around the whole world. Covid-19 pandemic affect the whole world with its adverse
effects, many of the businesses has faced threat of disruption from every side, impact of corona
virus is huge and unpredictable it forced many businesses to shut down hotels, restaurants,
worldwide tourism, entertainment, due to this tourism industries suffers a lot it impacts their
various sector such as hospitality, tour operators, travel agency or many more, according to the
data tourism industry has lost their billions of asset, because of these employees who works
under tourism industry has lost their employment (Anguera-Torrell, Aznar-Alarcón and Vives-
Perezk, 2020).
Covid-19 forced much of the tourism industry and hospitality to shut down their business
which led them to big loss, their financial state decreased with the loss of millions of their turn
over, as many people do not prefer to travel or stay in the hotel, as they have risk of their life,
that directly impact the tourism industry, people who only make their money from tourism are
now suffering, discussion consists of positive and negative impact of covid-19 on tourism and
hospitality industry, their recovery, their gross annual revenues.

Travelling or exploring is the most interesting way of interacting with the world, to know
their different culture, meeting with strangers, that increase the knowledge. However, it mostly
affected by pandemics and epidemics. Tourism brings large amount of revenues to their
industries, as it is main source of income for the people. People earn their daily income by
guiding the tourist. Some people sell their products to tourist. Novel corona virus affects the

whole world as it transmits in the air or by human to human transmission. It forced many travel
agency, hotels, restaurants to shut down their business. Tourism and hotel industry are totally
depends on tourist who visit and enjoy their hospitality. Travellers worry about getting infected
or risking their lives that directly affect their traveller behaviour. Revenues of tourism and hotel
industry are not only depends on their present and future cash flow but also on their discern cash
flow. Due to the virus many countries are supporting their domestic tourism which is helping
them to reconstruct their tourism business. Companies are preparing strategies and plans to
support the recovery of tourism industry. They are promoting their business on digital transition
and moving forward to greener tourism sector, that will help the tourist to plan for travel
(Chauhan and et.al).
Positive news on vaccines has boosted many travel agency to reconstruct their business.
They are moving forward according to their plans and strategies. To promote domestic tourism
business to mitigate the job and employment losses. However full recovery is only possible when
tourist from across the world visit their country. Tourist companies moving forward with covid
guidelines to rebuild their businesses. Outbreak of covid-19 virus lead many hotels and tourist
industries to change their services. Only those people are allowed to travel who are vaccinated
and given a certificate of being vaccinated. Companies started their work, while staying at home.
They promote their business digitally. They involve all the necesarry precautions in their
package. In order to recover from loss hotels are collaborating with many hospitality services. To
help those who are infected from corona virus. Many hotels are showing their support in
changing their hospitals room into wards for the treatment of the patients (Romagosa , 2020).
Tourism and hospitality industries are highly labour-intensive. It provides a lot of job
opportunities for the people who are skilled in this field. Positive impact of virus on Hotels and
leisure industries are associated with hospitality services. Due to rising of cases people are facing
trouble in recovering from virus. However, for a speedy recovery, tourism and industries planned
some changes. They collaborated with the domestic tourism, also they include some special
offers to grab the attention of tourist. They reduced their cost in order to rebuild their business.
They allow hospitality industry to use their rooms for medical facility in recovering of covid
patients. Due to this collaboration they are able to compensate their losses which is due to spread
of corona virus (Hsieh, Chen and Wang, 2021).

Negative impact of covid-19 virus on tourism, hospitality and on leisure industry
The highly severe infectious covid-19 continues to spread around the world. Still, the
origin of virus is unconfirmed, it is still unpredictable. The whole world is affected by its
hazardous effect. Many people have lost their lives, industries and enterprises are forced to shut
down, it affects the people economically and financially. They forced to leave their jobs, many
people are starved due to the virus who cuts off all the income of people. Tourism industry and
hospitality industries are mostly affected sector. The pandemic shows the negative devastated
effect on tourism, leisure and on hospitality industry. As tourism is only based on tourist, people
who travel mostly are now hesitating to travel as there is risk of getting affected or lose their
lives. Pandemic affects are effectively visible on domestic tourism, business travel, cruise
business. The virus brought threat among the tourists to quarantine themselves during their
travel. Due to corona virus government has banned all the onboard flights, trains all mode of
transport. They also shut down the borders, that are causing tourism and hospitality industry
(Ioannides and Gyimóthy , 2020).
The annual revenues of tourism and hospitality industries are not only depend on current
and future cash flow, but also depends on perceived riskiness of cash flow. The fear of infection
losing of lives and quarantine led many people to not plan travel other countries. Tourism and
leisure industries plays a crucial role in economic activities. But they are also vulnerable at the
same time, because the transmission of virus or any seasonal influenza is encountered here
easily. As many people visited there from different places and who will know that they are
carrying virus or not. As tourism and hospitality industries are main source of employment. They
provide many opportunities to the people, who are skilled in this field. But due to the outbreak of
severe virus it affects the entire tourism and leisure industry. Companies are forced to reduce
their employees, as they are unable to pay all. Because of virus tourism companies are unable to
increase their revenues. Due to this many people are losing their job and forced to starve (Kumar
and Nafi, 2020).
Pandemic has directly affects the hospitality industry due to quarantine decision. As
there is no provisional guidelines for quarantine during the pandemic. Virus impacted tourism
industry very badly. It restricts the travel that impact negatively on leisure and tourism industry.
The sudden fall in tourism industry cuts off all the environmental resources, as many people are
willing to visit biodiversity parks to enjoy the nature. Absurdly corona virus first attacked the

international traveller who on board for travelling different country thus pandemic is caused by
the travel. Covid virus severely affect the hospitality, tourism and leisure sector , Complete lock
down cause the hospitality industry very badly. Virus has caused supply chain of tourism
industry, it prevents their revenues, it caused massive change in their annual gross revenues
which directly impact the reduction of jobs (Jones and Comfort, 2020).
CONCLUSION
From the above topic it is concluded that the outbreak of novel corona virus has affected
the world economically and financially. It sank the employment, disrupt the transportation
system, also it severely affects the Tourism, hospitality and leisure industry very badly. As they
were forced to shut down their doors for the travellers. Virus has impacted these industries
adversely. As they lost their revenues and annual growth, tourism industries were forced to shut
down their travel accommodation. The tourism and hospitality industries were the main carrier in
economic growth. They had been providing labour-intensive, they offered a lot of job
opportunities for the people who are skilled in this field. But now due to pandemic they are
enforced to reduce their employees. Because of their decreased in stock prices, companies faced
massive reduction in their annual revenues. Travellers were no longer interested in exploration.
Traveler halted their plans, as they were feared to loss their life.
Covid-19 continues to hit hard, because of the spread of virus tourism and hospitality
industries were planning to rebuild their business. They came up with the plans to promote their
domestic tourism until the situation got better. Many companies were planning to develop a
resilient tourism in order to support sustainable recovery of their tourism industries. Tourism
industries were moving forward with greener tourism system. Hospitality industries were
collaborating. They showed their support to many people in order to recover with infection. They
changed their hotels into recovery centre where people can recover better.
