INTRODUCTION
A CPD Portfolio is considered as a tool that can provide assistance to an individual in
gaining the understanding of the process which are associated with its learning as well as growth.
CPD stands for Continuous Professional Development which is a set of the ideas, approaches,
tactics and technologies that help a person in the process of managing its growth and learning
aspects. Such kind of portfolios maintain a track of all the activities that are concerned with CPD
which have been evaluated and performed by the practitioners. Multiple types of professionals
and units have their different CPD needs and hence, portfolios are specific as well as
representative to the individual practitioner (Ahmad, Ahmad and Hussain, 2019). One of the key
advantage of the CPD Portfolio is to permit an individual in order to make concentration on its
short-term or particular knowledge gaps as well as missing skills within it. This is done for the
purpose of assuring that there is a identifiable improvements to the personal proficiency. Within
this project, the chosen field is Human Resource which is a department within an organisation
who is accountable to all the activities that are conducted within the workplace in order to
achieve the set goals as well as objectives of the organisation. There are several roles and
responsibilities of HR and some of these roles consist of effective hiring and recruiting practices,
selecting employees, on-boarding, training and development sessions, paying and firing human
resources that are working in a business the key purpose of the HR is to offer an effective and
appropriate structure for the organisation along with serving as the engine which helps it in
running the business in a very smooth manner on a regular basis. This project will covers
different aspects in relation to the HR sector and these aspects include CDP Log which will
contain the evidence of mapping or self-assessment against the CIPD Profession Map along with
other learning as well as development achievements. CIPD Profession Map in context to HR is
described as a process of designing the strategies as well as plans of the human resources in an
effective and efficient manner (Arici, 2019). It also includes creating employee engagement
executions, framing policies and procedures of the people, setting up the development and
learning interventions for the purpose of accomplishing the needs and wants of the workplace.
Moreover, this project will also cover PDP Log which is also going to be included evidence of
self-assessment against CIPD Profession Map as well as other learning that an HR wants to
develop within the next 12 months. Furthermore, there will be a self-reflection on the key
learning milestones along with the influence of learning and development so far. This will be

technologies so that they can provide the results into efficient and effective manner as well.
It is most important that to create awareness by HR regarding to individual behaviour. If
HR want to become more professional in their field then they have to developed skills and good
knowledge of HR function which they have responsibility in their organization. The skills which
required to developed by person to become effective HR is having good communication skills,
team work, time management, problem, etc. This all skills must have in person then only they
have potential to perform their task with more sincerity and responsibility in organization. In
enterprise, HR is having big responsibility and they played a very key role in their business
operation. Human Resource (HR) is need to perform the finding, training and retaining the right
people to their company. This consider a career in HR which should have necessary skills which
connect employees and make important decisions in company on daily basis. The HR is having
responsibility that they need to examine properly that it is sufficient available of workforce in
organization or not. Then only it is possible for management that they can run their business
smoothly and achieved their organization objectives effectively (Deka, 2018). If HR is not
having proper skills and knowledge about their roles and responsibility which they need to
perform in company. Then it will directly impact on the performance level of organization that
management will not able to operate their business operation in effective manner and they don't
able to accomplished their objectives on time. This is why it is most important that HR need to
perform their task with more effective and sincerely. The HR also have responsibility that they

problem which is faced by employees in their business. Then HR have responsibility to provide
proper solution to their employees and motivate toward work and responsibility which they have
in organization. HR have to retain their employees for long term in organization so, that business
can grow and developed in the market because the employees is having good experience and
knowledge which improve the person of HR skills. If HR fail to retain the employees in
organization for long term in enterprise then they management don't able to generate profit and
they don't able to expand and grow their business in market (Dixon, 2019). In any organization
HR is having great importance without their present it is not possible for management to run
their business operation. HR provide good and comfortable environment to their employees in
organization then only employees feel comfortable to perform their business responsibility.

PDP stands for Personal Development Planning and PDP Log is an effectively structured
framework that can be used by a person in order to aware it regarding its skills that are evolved
within it and areas for improvements. The use of PDP Log is to document the goals and
objectives of a person in an effective and efficient manner which can further help in achieving
them. In context to HR, this documents provide assistance in outlining the strengths that are
already developed within it along with the need for changes or learn for the purpose of meeting
its set objectives and goals. With the help of this personal development plan, an HR can also
identify its weak areas that require more improvement. In terms of an HR, PDP is Professional
Development Plan which is created by an HR Manager who is working closely with other
subordinates in order to recognise the essential key skills as well as resources for the purpose of
supporting the career opportunities and goals of the staff members. HR should have a Personal
development Plan for reflecting on the abilities and identification of the opportunities that
require more improvements (Hamid and Affendy, 2018). The significance of PDP in HR is that
this kind of plan provide assistance in the process of recognising the candidates who are
performing very high and are effective in working. It is also helpful for understanding that
whether they are providing with the successful and appropriate training and guidance or not. In
context to HR, this tool can also help the HR manager in improving the performance of its

Gibbs reflective cycle is reflective model. It was introduced by Graham Gibbs in year 1988. This
reflective model aids the students in their ideas and thoughts expressing, past experiences as well
as it also helps in gaining new learning of students. There are various steps and phases that are
there in Gibbs reflective cycle (Robertson, 2018). These steps are description, feeling,
evaluation, analysis, action plan and in the end, conclusion that are done in a very systematic
manner which aids these students in reflecting of their learning and various past experiences in a
specific period of time.
Description- This step is concerned with describing the specified situation in detail where
happenings and results of varied learning aspects are recorded strategically. This is principally
based on the module in which I have enrolled myself titled as varied aspects of human resource
management in business organisation. I am working as an HR executive at an organisation
whereby we have assigned some development activities in order to enhance our varied skills in
an effective manner. Under this, I had gained lots of knowledge regarding HRM practices which
has supported me to enhance skill development practices in an effective manner. As a
development activity I have been a group task regarding making presentation of varied human
resource practices with three other colleagues. We have bifurcated our parts and start our project
with a good start. However, we have noticed that our writing styles are different and we want to
make this project attractive by using diagrams and charts (Sharrock, 2018). At that level, I start
to lead the team and telling my colleagues what they have to do for performing this task. We
started again by segregating our duties and keeping coming deadlines in our mind.

Feelings- Being a HR executive, there was complete nervousness and anxiety that I have
felt during my learning process. There was complete blunder that I had to face in my learning
process in my organisation and development activities. There were not many skills that were
present in me as I was a learner or a beginner in the HR field. After gaining knowledge and
information from my development activities, there were many skills that I got to see in me. There
were many skills that were improved in me such as my communication skills were not that
effective, as I was always a nervous and anxious person. Other skills such as problem solving
and team working skills were also improved in me because of the decrease in my nervousness
and anxiousness that was there because of I was not able to mix up with people and was always
sacred to be judged or being a part of their group. As I was a learner with lot of insecurities and
complexities, I was not even able to possess critical thinking skills. I got the chance to improve
these HR skills by being a part of the organisation and also got to learn a lot by the decrease in
my insecurities and nervousness. I am a lot thankful to my development activities that I got to
learn in the university.
Evaluation – This phase is concerned with analysing the situation which should be based
on honesty and integrity of individuals. This step focuses on positive as well as negative aspects
in regard with specified situation. We have given a good start of our assignment but our work
gets lacked relevancy when we had done our parts of work in a wrong writing styles. Things
between us not gone well at the initial level but with my leadership style, our task come on right
platform in a strategic manner. I have evaluated that I am good in leadership skills which will
help me in working with the personnel at my job. As HR executive manager, it is imperative for
me to act as a leader in order to manage and encourage my team for attaining best outcomes in a
strategic manner.
Analysis- This step is concerned with making sense about what has happened and
focusing on improvising the situation. This phase provides answers about extracting different
aspects of the happenings regarding their positive as well as negative aspects in an effective
manner (Weiss, 2020). I have analysed that being an HR executive, I have to develop other skills
for enhancing my overall development. I am also trying to develop my presentation and
communication skills effectively for getting more promotions at my employability. I have
analysed that I have enhanced my leadership and presentation skills in order to be more

productive. I have analysed that group think is a strategic framework which helped me in
performing the assigned task in a collaborative manner.
Conclusion – This section is concerned with summarising the activities and varied
happenings in an effective manner for preparing an action plan for improving the future in an
effective manner. It has been concluded that as an HR executive, I have take part in development
activities and perform the assigned task in an effective manner. I used my leadership and team
working skills for making effective collaborations in a strategic manner.
Action plan- At this phase, an action plan is formulated for modifying the situation
further in an exponential manner. I have scheduled to make my learning process effective art
development activities. For this task. I have make an action plan in regards with PDP and CIPD
plan as well as log which help me in enhancing problem-solving and critical thinking
competencies in an effective manner. This action plan will help me in enhancing in my skills
development as well as gaining desired business objectives and personal goals in a strategic
manner.
