Introduction
Personal and professional development facilities the improvement in abilities of an
individual for acquiring new and innovative learning opportunities for the future growth. With
relevance to this, it become vital for an individual to focus on personal along with professional
development so that the goal or objective will be attained within stipulated time (Landry and
Caust, 2017). The present report includes discussion about my career journey along with
experience that I had drawn from the same. Additionally, it covers discussion about current skill
set, action plan and PDP for improving my absenteeism skill as well as to gain advantage of new
opportunities by learning more skills.
Element 1
Choose target industry and target job where you either are or want to work as
I would like to work as a manger and accountant in retailing industry as I have an
adequate amount of experience and knowledge in this field that is required succeed. I am
passionate about working in retail industry and will like to grow my career in this industry only.
There are number of ethical issues linked with the retail industry like corporate social
responsibility, product safety, green issues, product sourcing etc.
A creative and ethical leader
It is vital for me to manage my own achievements, enhancement and effectual aptitude. I
have analysed myself that I have developed my quality and capacity while working in retailing
firm in order to pull off operation and opt new challenges. For further improvement I need to
work on my qualities of leadership. There are number of leadership achievements:
Classical theory of management: As these approaches were formulated in the beginning
of the 19th century, they involves the management of activities to gain the desired outcomes
swiftly while maintaining growth of the enterprise.
Scientific theory of management: This theory focuses on increasing efficiency of various
tasks by systematised management (Aitamaa and Leino-Kilpi, 2019). I have the ability to
manage tasks in a systematic manner.

Develop an academic research essay on your target industry, its issues and challenges.
Innovation and creativity is one of the major factors that is required in retailing sector in
order to full fill the needs of consumers. Also leadership is another skill that is required to
manage and handle all function/ operation as well to effective take decision for the betterment of
company. Retailing sector requires an effective CSR and good standardization for successful
execution of goal/ objective.
Corresponding creative and ethical leadership skills are required in the chosen industry.
Enhancing leadership skills by and accomplishing various objectives which better prepare me
to take leadership roles in the company is vital for my growth in the management industry. By
working as a manager in the apparel store, I have gained knowledge related to leadership which
will help me gain success in this field. Apart from this I need to develop various skills related to
leadership by practising my leadership skills in various environments.
 Construction of strategy: This requires formation of appropriate mental imagery for the
future development of the plan. Formation of effective strategy is crucial to swift
completion of various activities.
 Organisation: This involves organisation of various tasks and formation of guidelines to
reach the desired objective in the most effective way possible.
 Supervising: This involves supervision of employees and resources associated with
various tasks. Directing the employees and ensuring presence of resources required to
complete the tasks.
 Collaboration: This involves performing each task with a collaborative effort from all the
divisions of the company to get desired results swiftly and effectively. The manager and
leaders are required to oversee such collaboration between departments and remove any
barriers for increasing efficiency of the workforce.

During my job tenure, I have been proved a very good leader and that is analysed by
myself along with my co-workers. During that I did hard work I order to attain all me predefined
goal. For this it is necessary to formulate a plan that aid me to develop myself with new

approach so that I will able to accept all challenging task and will able to combat with any threat
or weakness. It is necessary for me to improve and increase my skills so that I will able to work
in more efficient manner. I believe that for achieving heights, it is important for an individual to
grasp all opportunity that gives and help them for attaining all future objectives (Beerel, 2019).
In order to carry out this I have worked in a clothing shop as an accountant which gives me
opportunity to improve my career graph as well as to use that skill which I have learned during
my studies. This was my first job where I got position of accountant. So that I got responsibility
and obligation in order to maintain and manages all inflows and outflow of cash as well as to
prepare all statements related with the finance of shop. Additionally, I have to manage all
statements that are related with the management of finance. In which I have to ensure that all
work will be carried out with safe working conditions by considering all rules, obligation and
ethics in order to reduce all possibilities of any hazardous things at site. For which it is required
to illustrate the rules and regulations set by shops related with the work that was provided to
workers into consideration. So this role required necessary insights related with the
management& accounting. From this my management skills got improved during this job
position as well as I was able to recognise my weakness while working that as an accountant
(Elkington and et.al., 2017). My experience as an accountant was very good as I was hoping to
get work done effectively and efficiently. This improves my level of productivity. Additionally, I
have worked as an assistant accountant in a small organisation where I have to manage all
function related with the audit, documentation, and I do checked all financial statements related
with the balance sheet of current and past years in order to known the profitability ratio of
company. During that I have analysed that I need to improve myself a bit for getting confidence
that I am doing right as well as performing well with the aim of achieving all objectives.
So I got satisfied while working there, now I would to work as a senior account manager
in a large firm in order to utilizes my all skill and knowledge that I have learned or experienced.
I will be happy if I got this opportunity as well as this improves my career path and offers me to
become successful.
All the above mentioned working experiences have assist me to be who I am today as
well as gives me opportunity to get more experience and knowledge. These experiences have
helped to make effective plan by taking effective decision as well as to become flexible for

adapting dynamic changes of environment. By which I have gained a lot of insights while
working and experienced with the assistance of appropriate skills and competencies.

ISSUES
Digital Disruption: Behaviour of consumers is changing rapidly due to largely and
explosive growth of E- commerce. Users have so many choice before they commit to a purchase
decision. So for companies related with retailing sector become vital to opt all new technologies.
Maintaining consumer base: Due to more number of options available to consumers, it
become a big issues to maintain the consumer base. With the help of consumers loyalty
programme, by offering special offers and promotional activities help to maintain consumers
base.
TRENDS
Social commerce: Native shopping experiences on social media platform as it offers a
way of shopping to carry out online without going anywhere. Instead of gonging with third party
uses can directly contact to purchaser with the help of social media app.
AR- Powered shopping experiences: AR, machine learning and AI (Artificial
intelligences) are those emerging trends within retailing sector. Consumers are more seeking
towards top technologies like augmented and virtual reality as it assist them in daily lives. Retail
index report that covid-19 has accelerated the shift to digital shopping roughly by 5 years.
CHALLENGES
Modern marketing: Due to rapid changes in digital marketing. Modern business have to
reach out their potential consumers by using different modes. Multichannel need to encompass
several methods including email, social media and traditional paid ads.
International communication: As retail sector become more complex, companies have
more complex organisational structure that requires more sophisticated internal communication
solution. This is challenging specially for medium to large organisation with several departments
of company.

I have worked in a clothing shop for 1 year as manager. During that I have learned a lot
while working at clothing store. These helped me to effectively manage and maintained all data

related with the accounts and that improved my skills and abilities. As I studied in accounts and
management, it is my responsibility to manage all my work and effectively achieve pre-defined
goal within stipulated time frame. In which by conducting all activities related with accounts
successfully strength me to develop my career (McManus and et.al., 2018). In which it is
important to improve my skills in order to manage and develop new skills for gaining success &
growth so that work will be managed in effective manner. All these skill initiate me and
motivates me that I can work in biggest retailing sector of UK.

Personal development plan
It can be said that professional and personal planning is very crucial for te purpose of
managing skill and talent, it will assist me in working towards my assigned goals and enhancing
the future career opportunities. I have to work towards evaluating my strength & weakness in
order to achieve the laid goals in specified time period. While I was working as a manager in
clothes shop I has to work towards achievement of my laid objectives. It is always very
important for me to manage my job roles according to its specific requirement (Gee, Schulte
and Matsumoto, 2019). I gained a lot of experiences and was my responsibility in this case to
perform all the functions that are related to my professional and personal growth. Some of such

From the Performance and development program I have made an analysis that present
skills level can be enhanced by focussing on below mentioned techniques:
Seminars and conferences: It is a very important approach that includes the process of
self-learning from such events (Coombe, 2020). It can assist in managing and focusing on
developing of new ways to achieve the objectives. It is also going to lead towards ensuring
technical functioning of business. This aspects is also related to managing the objectives of
organisation in the provided time frame (Dahmarde, Khodabakhshi and Rad, 2018).
Social networks: By focussing on use of different social networking sites so that there
can be managing of self-awareness for completion of work. It can also assist in achievement of
goals in the limited time period. It can be conclude that I can manage my assigned work and
responsibility properly if I will possess the required knowledge & the resources for achieving the
laid objectives. The mechanism has also been designed according to principles related to
different factors such as beliefs, knowledge, setting of targets and then further personal growth is
taking place which is regarded as the personal development planning (Shaheen and Hameed,
2020).
SOAR
Strength: One of my biggest strength that I have is working experiences in similar field
that I want to work as my dream job. While working I have developed so many skills that are
required to operates activities of company.
Opportunity: Likewise I have some weakness also, in order to overcome all these I have
opportunity to improve my skills where I am lacking.
Aspiration: I aspire to embrace my good image in society and well imaged company.
Further I desire to be work as a manger/ accountant in biggest retailing sector of UK.

Results: I have made my objective according to SMART technique and I believed that it
definitely help me to develop my skills and help in full filling the set objective. As it before help
me then only I am able to be answerable with confidence and able to take responsibilities.

any given time. The maximum lead times for developing team development skill are 50 days,

It is vital to carry out effective assessment with relation to leadership component within a
business unit. A good leader can change the whole game of company along with staff members
and that can aid the same in order to increase the level of industry's operations. In context of this
leadership mangers need to improve their structure along with policies so that they will able to
effectively suit in that situation or trends of significant industry. It can be often said that there
proximate requirement in order to determine and execute new strategies along with techniques of
carrying out daily task that assigned to all workers of company. Improvement in leadership
management skill will within industry help me as well as my co-workers to effective manage and
complete all task before deadline in effective & efficient manner (Zheng and et.al., 2019). It will
be helpful for all types of employees working in respective company for which manger and
workers need to adhere all rules and obligation in order to carry out all function and activities in
effective manner. For raining the interest of all employees, it is important to encourage and
motivates employees so that they will all become engage towards their roles and task as well as

I would like to join management and accounting industry in the future. I have the skills
necessary for this field of work and I want to grow in this sector by application of mathematical
knowledge and experience in management.
Barriers related to morality are present in the management and accounting industry like
self-dealing from managers, discrimination at the workplace and manipulation of data by
accountants to commit illegal acts (Dionne, 2019) .
Creativity is not a matter of serious concerns in the engagement and accounting industry.
Leadership plays an important role in the industry and shapes the success or failure of any
organisation.
CONCLUSION
From above discussed report it can be concluded that the above mentioned all
information related with the working experiences are important for developing itself at
professional or personal level. For this it is necessary to commit required time in order to gain
experiences from number of companies so that it will be helpful in order to gain experiences of
future opportunities. Formulation of PDP is vital in order to meet growth and development of
individuals. It is necessary for all companies to carry out effective leadership style in order to
manage the employees of company.
