Introduction
Personal and professional development facilities the improvement in abilities of an
individual for acquiring new and innovative learning opportunities for the future growth. With
relevance to this, it become vital for an individual to focus on personal along with professional
development so that the goal or objective will be attained within stipulated time (Landry and
Caust, 2017). The present report includes discussion about my career journey along with
experience that I had drawn from the same. Additionally, it covers discussion about current skill
set, action plan and PDP for improving my absenteeism skill as well as to gain advantage of new
opportunities by learning more skills.
Element 1
Choose target industry and target job where you either are or want to work as
I would like to work as a manger and accountant in retailing industry as I have an
adequate amount of experience and knowledge in this field that is required succeed. I am
passionate about working in retail industry and will like to grow my career in this industry only.
There are number of ethical issues linked with the retail industry like corporate social
responsibility, product safety, green issues, product sourcing etc.
A creative and ethical leader
It is vital for me to manage my own achievements, enhancement and effectual aptitude. I
have analysed myself that I have developed my quality and capacity while working in retailing
firm in order to pull off operation and opt new challenges. For further improvement I need to
work on my qualities of leadership. There are number of leadership achievements:
Classical theory of management: As these approaches were formulated in the beginning
of the 19th century, they involves the management of activities to gain the desired outcomes
swiftly while maintaining growth of the enterprise.
Scientific theory of management: This theory focuses on increasing efficiency of various
tasks by systematised management (Aitamaa and Leino-Kilpi, 2019). I have the ability to
manage tasks in a systematic manner.

Innovation and creativity is one of the major factors that is required in retailing sector in
order to full fill the needs of consumers. Also leadership is another skill that is required to
manage and handle all function/ operation as well to effective take decision for the betterment of
company. Retailing sector requires an effective CSR and good standardization for successful
execution of goal/ objective.
Corresponding creative and ethical leadership skills are required in the chosen industry.
Enhancing leadership skills by and accomplishing various objectives which better prepare me
to take leadership roles in the company is vital for my growth in the management industry. By
working as a manager in the apparel store, I have gained knowledge related to leadership which
will help me gain success in this field. Apart from this I need to develop various skills related to
leadership by practising my leadership skills in various environments.
Construction of strategy: This requires formation of appropriate mental imagery for the
future development of the plan. Formation of effective strategy is crucial to swift
completion of various activities.
Organisation: This involves organisation of various tasks and formation of guidelines to
reach the desired objective in the most effective way possible.
Supervising: This involves supervision of employees and resources associated with
various tasks. Directing the employees and ensuring presence of resources required to
complete the tasks.
Collaboration: This involves performing each task with a collaborative effort from all the
divisions of the company to get desired results swiftly and effectively. The manager and
leaders are required to oversee such collaboration between departments and remove any
barriers for increasing efficiency of the workforce.

During my job tenure, I have been proved a very good leader and that is analysed by
myself along with my co-workers. During that I did hard work I order to attain all me predefined
goal. For this it is necessary to formulate a plan that aid me to develop myself with new

approach so that I will able to accept all challenging task and will able to combat with any threat
or weakness. It is necessary for me to improve and increase my skills so that I will able to work
in more efficient manner. I believe that for achieving heights, it is important for an individual to
grasp all opportunity that gives and help them for attaining all future objectives (Beerel, 2019).
In order to carry out this I have worked in a clothing shop as an accountant which gives me
opportunity to improve my career graph as well as to use that skill which I have learned during
my studies. This was my first job where I got position of accountant. So that I got responsibility
and obligation in order to maintain and manages all inflows and outflow of cash as well as to
prepare all statements related with the finance of shop. Additionally, I have to manage all
statements that are related with the management of finance. In which I have to ensure that all
work will be carried out with safe working conditions by considering all rules, obligation and
ethics in order to reduce all possibilities of any hazardous things at site. For which it is required
to illustrate the rules and regulations set by shops related with the work that was provided to
workers into consideration. So this role required necessary insights related with the
management& accounting. From this my management skills got improved during this job
position as well as I was able to recognise my weakness while working that as an accountant
(Elkington and et.al., 2017). My experience as an accountant was very good as I was hoping to
get work done effectively and efficiently. This improves my level of productivity. Additionally, I
have worked as an assistant accountant in a small organisation where I have to manage all
function related with the audit, documentation, and I do checked all financial statements related
with the balance sheet of current and past years in order to known the profitability ratio of
company. During that I have analysed that I need to improve myself a bit for getting confidence
that I am doing right as well as performing well with the aim of achieving all objectives.
So I got satisfied while working there, now I would to work as a senior account manager
in a large firm in order to utilizes my all skill and knowledge that I have learned or experienced.
I will be happy if I got this opportunity as well as this improves my career path and offers me to
become successful.
All the above mentioned working experiences have assist me to be who I am today as
well as gives me opportunity to get more experience and knowledge. These experiences have
helped to make effective plan by taking effective decision as well as to become flexible for
