INTRODUCTION
Organizations in today's complex environment needs to necessarily adopt responsive
approach in order encourage creative behaviour within employees of the company. Creativity
itself denotes to bring something special or new into the organization. Ethical leadership style is
described as leadership which promotes implication of appropriate approach through
interpersonal relationships and personal actions. In the business of today's environment, ethics
are an increasingly significant element. In accordance to this, leadership with ethics is very
important to develop, understand and to recognize in the business activity (Engelbrecht, 2017).
With the help of efficient ethical leadership skills, it creates a positive environment within the
organization. Ethical leaders helps to boost employee productivity and thus overall performance
of the organization.
Marriott is a multinational hospitality brand which provides services with various hotels
and resorts based in Maryland. There are overall 360 Marriott hotels and resorts in 47 countries
across the world (Hay, 2020).
This report will elaborate the concept of relationship between ethical leadership and
employee creativity which describes the development of such kind of skills while performing
within the hospitality industry. Apart from this, the report will also highlight the systematic
approach towards research methodology used in this study and will also demonstrate advanced
information skills in regard to ethical and creative leadership skills.
MAIN BODY
LO3 Development of ethical and creative leadership skills
Ethical leadership is highly important for various number of reasons i.e. for employees,
customers as well as the whole company. Effective leadership skills are essential in order to help
in building positive ethical culture within the organization. When a leader becomes a part of
certain organization, there is a group of rules and regulations that make up the organizational
culture. When a person just starting out their career in hospitality industry, the person must
aware about how to build managerial and leadership skills and best if both blended together into
one. The major difference between leader and managers is that managers have the authority but
unable to motivate, inspire and support their team members while on the other hand the leader
has an ability that can be found at every level of the hospitality industry (Bartnik, 2018). The

leaders do not have to manage the staff of hotels in order to become a leader. Thus, leadership
skills are helpful in building productive teams and strong results. As per my perception if I
would work in Marriott then I will be able to develop at least five essential skills within me i.e.
vision, innovation, inspiration, inner values and communication skills (Ahmad, 2018). These are
considered as the soft skills of leadership within hospitality industry: Vision: Marriott believes that a leader must be able to communicate and set the plans and
goals also known as vision of the company. According to my perspective if I would get
an opportunity to work within the Marriott, I would able to build my ethical leadership
and creative skills as the company provides an environment which helps the individual to
develop certain skills within them (Nambisan, 2017). The team understands the big
picture of what the company tries to achieve with the effective co-ordination of
employees towards the achievement of company goals. Innovation: Great leaders are open to new technique or ways of doing things done within
the time frame. In Marriott, I will be able to improve myself and able to build an
understanding which creates values within me of giving emphasize on quality over
quantity. The employees within the company are adapts continuously learning and
sharpen their skills kind of behaviour. I would be able to take a risk with generating a
fearless behaviour within me as my surroundings includes skilled employees in the
Marriott because company invests a lot in training and development of employees
programme. Communication: Good leaders are always curious to ask questions, be empathetic and
consider each and every team member of the organization and the team as well. I would
be able to enhance my communication skills if working with the staff of Marriott as their
staff members are highly creative and good at communication in nature with effective
training provided to them with the help of training and development programs. Value: Ethical leaders have to understand the needs of employees within the organization
to be work life balance in order to succeed. I will be able to manage my time with the
members or candidates working in Marriott and also able to translate my abilities to focus
on the tasks (Grönroos, 2017). The values will be generated within me so that I will be
enhanced my knowledge and skill to become an ethical leader as well as increase my
creativity thinking level.

Business sense: While working in the hospitality industry one can understand the broad
picture of sales and marketing, understanding hiring practices and the abilities required in
order to compete in the market place with their competitors (Rasmussen, 2020). With the
working in Marriott I will be able to increase my understanding about taking advantage
of taking opportunities and handle challenges that lead towards the growth.
Leadership is all about finding solutions to the problems so that work can continue and guests are
not walking away angry and frustrated. A combination of understanding, empathy, motivation
and caring for all team members professionally come together with a desire for self-improvement
and expect high level of excellence to build strong leadership that generates effective and
productive team. Ethical leaders reflect a good image of the business and in turn able to attract
and retain the best talent within the company. This is the only reason that Marriott has the best
talented people within the society because the leaders manage a great level of culture within the
company which automatically attracts best talents towards them and I also want to become the
part of such great organization. The company cultivate honest work environment in which the
employees are free to report unethical behaviour without any fear of punishment. The managers
and leaders within the Marriott encourage the employees to communicate openly and freely
without restricting their ideas as well as the thought processes (Farooq , 2018). In my opinion, I
need to develop some great sense of ethical and creative leadership with the help of working with
the Marriott is that I have to align or generate my moral values with consistently working for
the betterment of the skill as well. To become an ethically strong leader which automatically
generates a sense of creativity through innovative ideas, I have to become a master of ethics.
Nowadays the trend going on within various organizations to set high ethical standards and
strong moral concepts of working environment. It will only possible through mastering in the
ethical things that are required by the company in order to handle the whole staff ethically as
well as with creative and innovative ways. Conflict resolution is a day to day challenge among
managers and leaders. No doubt, managing conflict is a very tricky thing. Ethical leaders are
concerned about the welfare of each and every employee working in the company so this gives
staff a safe environment to report any unethical practices. This is the specific kind of culture that
Marriott adopts in order to sustain talent management and satisfaction level at every level within
the organization. With the help of working with the employees, leaders and managers of the

Marriott, I will be able to enhance my leadership as well as managerial skills which helps in
order to build an ethical leader which also encourage creativity skill within me. With the never
ending situation of competition within the market space, organizations are forced to think outside
the box and try different approaches in order to reach the goals of the company. For thinking
outside the frame, the creative kind of thinking is highly important. In order to generate creative
thinking the environment of the organization matters a lot (Bercovitch, 2019). This is why I
chose Marriott to work with which enhances my creative side within my behaviour which
ultimately helps me to become an ethical leader which thinks about the organization as a whole
and not just about the profit of the company. I want to become an ethical leader which sets an
example which enhances the noble quality of great leader. Just claiming and not showing the
abilities in terms of actions behaviour makes no sense. As, employees are more likely to judge
their superiors on the basis of their actions. What I have learned from the working in Marriott is
that if I will get an opportunity to work with the company, I will definitely adapt a culture of
ethical leader within me in order to become transparent leader and will definitely encourage
feedback from employees within the company. I want to become consistent while working with
the Marriott in terms of my ethical behaviour and creativity as it will help me to build trust
within my team members and handle them effectively and treat them without any biasses.

solving ability I was able to collect all the appropriate information and communicate the
final outcome effectively. IT skills: Addition of information technology skills to the mix while doing research
