Introduction
Use of technology in educational setting is continuously increasing because it helps in
changing the way students and teachers share, analyze and evaluate all the information gathered
by them. It can also help in serving the various requirements of the students conveniently.
Technology can help students in improving their learning process by engaging the students in the
same through the use of technology and it can also help in improving various skills of the
students such as it can help in increasing their interest for complex subjects such as mathematics
and thereby improve their mathematical skills, it can help in improving their collaborative
learning skills, their knowledge about online research skills and various others (Molenaar & van
Campen, 2016). The main aim of the paper is to create a strategic plan that can help in improving
the students learning with the use of technology over a period of 5 weeks. The paper will discuss
about the educational setting, rationale of the paper, a strategic plan or the 5 week teaching
layout and a personal professional learning.
Educational setting
The educational setting or background includes students of a chosen Australian school
and students who are selected for the purpose of this study belong to year 5. The classroom of
the chosen school makes use of various technological gadgets in order to have improved learning
in classrooms. Some of these gadgets are use of tablets, interactive whiteboard; make use of
laptops, graphic calculators, geometry tools, and various other software’s for the same purpose.
Students belonging to these schools come from a middle class to high society background such
that they have the access to computers and laptops in their homes also (SION, 2018). These
students also have proper Wi-Fi connections and tablets in their homes. The strategic plan is

aimed at improving the knowledge of the students towards the subject of mathematics and also
improves their coordination and research skills such that they can become able to make use of
information available on various technological gadgets and also be able to make use of various
resources properly.
Rationale
The topic that is selected for the purpose of the strategic plan is that of mathematics. The
main reason behind choosing this subject sand aiming to improve the mathematical skills is that
the subject is one of the most complex subjects and as a result students consider the subject as
boring and lose interest from the subject (O'Reilly, 2016). This further leads to more problems
for the teachers because in order to provide proper knowledge of the subject they need the
students to have grasp over some of the major mathematical concepts and a study habit
especially for teachers of the intermediary levels and primary levels. Further it is also necessary
for the students to have proper knowledge of mathematics because the subject not only provides
the basis of other science subjects and used for academic purposes but it is also having an
important role to play in various industries and technology. This is so because there are many
new mathematical fields such as operation research, signal processing, control theory and various
others (Torres, 2016). Therefore technology has a major role to play in improving the
engagement of the students towards the subject such that they can overcome the monotony and
improve their focus on the subject. Technology can help in improving the students thinking
related to the subject. It has been found out that students tend to learn more effectively when they
feel engaged towards a subject. In order to improve the same, various technologies can be used
such as various tools of online study can be used, online medias can be used, digital games can
be used such that the students can enjoy while they learn mathematics. Moreover these digital
