Technology is used by the every sector to secure the confidential data and also provide the
assurance of the safety to the residents living in the country. The need for the effective
utilisation of the technology in the crime analysis in the crime analysis is equally important.
The technologies majorly used are as follows.
GIS: It became one of the important tools in tracking and responding to the crimes at the
neighbourhood level. The departments across the country use the GIS to expand the coverage
and utilise the same to patrol the officers and the resident of the community. For example the
crime mapping information is available along with the wire laptops in patrol cars to the
officers with access the information easily and to record the data and subsets of the crime.
The maps enable the officers to pinpoint the business contact information when the alarm
makes the sound rather than getting the information from the dispatcher of the call (GIS.
2018).
Geographic Profiling
The other technique that can be used to accurately determine and observe the crime is the
geographic profiling. Geographic profiling or the combined use of the psychology,
mathematics and the geography to identify the location of an offender which is most
commonly associated with the serial killers, rapists and arsonists. This tool is also useful to
investigate the location of the offender across different series of locations (Crime Mapping.
2018).
