1CRIMINAL JUSTICE
Abstract
In this paper a brief research has been done on justice. The term has been defined as per
the biblical references as well as under the criminal justice system. The paper also discusses if
justice has been achieved. In furtherance the cost based analysis of the cost of crime has also
been discussed in the paper.

2CRIMINAL JUSTICE
What is Justice
The term ‘justice’, according to the Bible, means ‘to make right’. Justice can be described
as the relational term where the people live in the right relationship with God, with one another
and with the creations of the nature (Coomber, 2016).
“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, and please
the widow's cause,” (Isaiah 1:17).
“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice,
and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8).
“Let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” (Amos 5:24)
Justice as per the criminal justice system can be described as delivering of punishment to
the people committing criminal offences (Cole, Smith & DeJong, 2018). Criminal justice system
in the United States is described as the series of government based institutes and agencies whose
main goals are the identification and detaining of individuals committing unlawful offences and
inflicting punishments on them. Other goals of criminal justice are seen to be including
prevention of crime, rehabilitation of the offenders and providing moral support for the victims
(Pound, 2018).
Is Justice achieved
Justice can be seen as both the attainment of just and the philosophical discussion of just
(Adams & Bell, 2016). As per the words of Bertrand de Jouvenel in his 1954 paper “De la
