Basic Requirement: The essay is not a summary of the reading, nor is it a research essay. The goal of the reflection essay is to react to a passage, a quote, a claim, or a whole article. You might incorporate independent research, and/or draw upon examples from the lecture content, your personal experiences, the news, television, or film, but there is a lot of latitude in this assignment. In this essay, I want to know what in the readings has given you hope, what has caused you concern, or what has opened the doorway to a philosophical/policy dilemma.
