1CRISIS PLAN FOR COVID 19
Introduction
Companies generally tend to operate in a volatile environment and there are various
factors which generally tend to function in a volatile environment. In consideration with this, it is
effective to note that, the enterprises and employees must be prepared to handle the events as
they come and the enterprises always needs to face the crisis actively. The world has been
sufficiently affected by the Coronavirus disease (Covid 19) which originated in Wuhan, China in
2017. In association with this, it can actively be mentioned that, the disease has been given the
status of a Global Pandemic by the world health organization and therefore, as and enterprise, the
seriousness of the situation cannot be effectively ignored. The coronavirus disease is caused by
an infectious disease cause by the coronavirus. The people who are generally infected with the
coronavirus generally show mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without any special
treatment.
However, it is critical to note that certain individuals are more prone to develop a serious
illness such as the elderly, individuals with underlying medical problems like the cardiovascular
disease, diabetes, chronic respirator disease and cancer. Hence, the best way which can be
identified to control the illness can be understood to be well informed about the virus and
protecting oneself from infection by washing the hands regularly, using an alcohol based rub
frequently and also touching the face (Who.int ,2020). The virus generally spreads through the
droplets of salve or discharge from the nose when an individual sneezes or coughs and hence,
maintaining respiratory etiquette is critical. There is currently no vaccine for the treatment but
trials are being held. Hence, till any clinical findings are established, one has to stay safe.
Social distancing can be considered as the new norms which can be followed by the
associated individuals maintain an acceptable distance from one another and do not engage in
any kind of physical contact. Hence, for the enterprise, the following crisis plan has been
formulated which shall effectively contribute towards understanding how the enterprise will be
dealing with the operations and the manner in which both the health of the customers and the
employees can be uplifted along with uplifting the individual health as well (Who.int ,2020).
Moreover, this is the time the employees have to remain committed towards ensuring
organizational health as well. Hence, the focus of the given crisis management plan is to ensure

that the firm is being able to maintain a systematic and sound crisis management plan with the
help of which the business operations can be dealt with accordingly.
Crisis plan element 1: Communication
The first element of the crisis management plan can be understood to be the
communication. In this scenario, it is important that the enterprise will be able to engage in
effective operations pertaining to the communication. The details of the crisis will be
communicated to the different individuals accordingly and to the different parties such as
customers and other stakeholders as well. When a crisis plan is communicated accordingly, then
in such a scenario, the firm will effectively be able to engage in associated communication
procedures which will then ensure long term and sustained operations. Hence, as the first
element plan, communication will be considered to be the key to long term success and ensuring
that all instructions can be given to the different employees as present in the enterprise (Boin &
Lodge, 2016). Additionally, key steps will also be undertaken to engage in effective operations.
If the employees are being asked to work from home then in this scenario, they will be
successively allowed to communicate with the firm. Hence, in this element of the crisis
management plan, successive steps to maintain profound communication with the different
employees will be undertaken. They will be conveyed about the precautions and steps taken.
For the means of communication, the following means of communication and associated
platforms will be undertaken:
1. Emails
2. Text messages
3. Group chats like WhatsApp and Hangouts
4. Zoom video calling
5. Associated telephone calls in case of urgency
Crisis plan element 2: Operations
The operations of the company have to be held off for some time. As the Covid 19 virus
successively spreads through the human contact, the operations of our firm are heavily reliant on
the employees and hence, until further notice, the operations of the business are being put on a

standstill. It can be agreed to it that, this initiative has been taken by the enterprise to ensure that
all measures are being met with in an adequate manner. In association with this, if further
instructions are receive from the government, then in such a scenario, the workplace will resume
for limited hours with only 25% to 50% of the staff. Hence, in this aspect, no new manufacturing
will take place. However, for the employees, the option of work from home is valid. Aspects like
coordinating, designing and associated aspects can be considered to be effectively critical and in
such a scenario, it is essential to understand that the company would be expecting complete
cooperation and coordination from the associated staff members (Boin, Stern & Sundelius,
2016). In such a scenario, it is expected that the firm would provide the staff with the means to
work from home but the hours have to be followed accordingly.
Additionally, it can be stated critical to understand that, for those staff members who are
not being able to engage in work from home due to personal reasons, the company will continue
their pay scale. It is requested that the employees are being able to work adequately during this
time but are advised to keep and maintain social distance. Meetings pertaining to the workplace
will take place over Skype.
Once the associated activities will resume again, then in such a scenario, the following
operations will begin:
Manufacturing of Absolute essentials with 30% work force in the first 4 months
Manufacturing of absolute essentials and other products with 50% workforce in the 4
months
All manufacturing goods will be resumed as per the government orders.
Crisis plan element 3: Procurement
All procurement activities which the enterprise generally tends to engage in will be
stopped for some time. All the products in transit will be kept in records but it has to be noted for
the production and the procurement department that procuring orders should not be made till
further notice (Booth, 2015). Additionally, it is effective to state that, all customers are required
to be notified regarding the procurement and will be notified hat no orders will be delivered
during this time period. In association with this, it can be considered relevant to mention that, no
commercial activities will be undertaken by the firm during this lockdown and quarantine period.

The company shall request its suppliers and customers to stay safe. Additionally, it can be
critically mentioned that, the payments which are due to the suppliers and by the customers are
requested to be made on a timely manner (Bundy, Pfarrer Short & Coombs, 2017).
The following steps will be followed:
1. The goods in transit will be accepted by the receiving officer
2. All new orders which have been placed will be kept on hold.
3. Goods ready for the delivery to the next step will also be put on hold.
Crisis plan element 4: Human resource
The human resource forms an essential part of the operations of the enterprise. They are
the backbone of the enterprise and in association with this, it can be stated that the organization
will undertake all procedures and steps to look out for the different individuals and ensure that,
they remain safe (Christensen, Lægreid & Rykkja, 2016). Hence, in association of this, the
different employees will be provided with timely assistance with respect to the various needs.
The employees will be paid in full while the social distancing and the quarantine period are on.
However, they will be essentially expected to work from home for those departments which can
corporate and coordinate with one another. Essentially the employees will be provided with
adequate insurance facilities and the grocery coupons with the help of which they will
successfully be able to fulfill their associated requirements easily (Dayton & Bernhardsdottir,
2015). Additionally, the employees will also be allowed to see to it that they are being able to
engage in cash fewer facilities so that the needs of the employees are being met with. However,
in return the enterprise requires full cooperation from the associated employees. The employees
have to maintain social distancing, complete their work and respond to mails for the overall
welfare of the business (Gruber, Smerek, Thomas-Hunt & James, 2015).
Crisis plan action 4: Safety and Media
All safety means and adequate measures are being applied by the firm. For this, an in
house temperature checking system shall be installed within the workplace and in consideration
with this, another measure which will be adequately undertaken by the enterprise can be stated to
be the fact that hand sanitizers and masks will be distributed (Lachlan et al., 2016). Even when

the work is resumed then in such a scenario only 20% to 50% of the workforce will be called as
per their convenience and social distancing norms will be undertaken. In consideration with this,
it needs to be considered adequately critical that, no meetings will be held. In addition to this, it
can be agreed to it that, the workplace will take all measures and the commercial operations will
be started only when the government guidelines are issue (Reuter, 2015).
The communication to the media houses can also be considered to be very critical. In
consideration with this, it can adequately be stated that, the media houses will be informed about
the closure of the business and in case they want to record the activities of the enterprise, then in
such a scenario, they will be provided with adequate permission only after employee consent. In
association with this, it can be critically agreed that when adequate communication with the
different media outlets will be maintained then in such a scenario so as to ensure that adequate
measures can be undertaken for long term success (Reuter, Hughes & Kaufhold, 2018).
In this time period, adequate initiatives will be undertaken by the enterprise with the help
of which, they will be able to ensure that they can conduct as many corporate social
responsibility activities as possible. In association with this, it can be adequately stated that, the
firm will be helping the needy and will donate money to the poor.
The following guidelines have been issues for workplace safety:
The cleanliness and hygiene of the workplace will be maintained in any scenario when
the workplace opens again
Promoting regular handwashing by the employees, customers and the contractors and
suppliers as well.
Promoting respiratory hygiene in the enterprise
Advising employees to consult national travel before taking any travel (Who.int ,2020).
Communicating all relevant information about the pandemic
Associating with the local health services, authorities and other partners to develop
campaign materials to promote Social Distancing messages
Scaling down crucial meetings is essential
A room has to be developed for those individuals who feel sick post the social distancing

to see to it that, the firm is being able to deal with the impending crisis in an adequate manner. In
addition to this, it is also effective to understand that, for a firm to engage in long term success,
the crisis needs to be dealt with in a sustainable manner. Therefore, the given report has laid
