CRITICAL ANALYSIS ESSAY1
The essay, “Some Lessons from the Assembly Line” is an essay which was a written
by the author Andrew Braaksma. In the essay, itself, the author tells the readers about the
importance of the higher education in the country for today’s generation. The author in the
essay itself had stated to the readers about the importance of well-developed skills as well as
the need for the time management for the people for having a better job or a better future for
themselves. The author goes on to state the fact that having a higher education would help the
people to get a better job in their lives.
While reading the essay itself, I felt that I believe what the author is trying to convey
to the readers in the essay itself. I find that the author had emphasized on the point that the
people should never miss the classes in colleges or universities (Braaksma, 2005). The author
believes working can give the readers some ideas about the work experience or other
necessary qualifications, but it is always better for the readers to gain the valuable education
from a college or university before venturing out for a work (Braaksma, 2005). “Factory life
has shown me what my future would have been like had I never gone to college i the
first place”. It is with the use of this statement that the author points out the differences
between studying in a college or working in a factory.
I also agree with the author of the essay when he claims that an individual can lost
his/her job at any moment. The statement by the author, “As frustrating as the work can be,
the most stressful thing about blue collar life is knowing your job could disappear
overnight”., correctly proves the claim of the author. I believe with what the author states in
the essay itself because of the reality of the work life (Braaksma, 2005). The competition in
the job world makes it inevitable that an individual can lose his job at any moment, which is
why the author states the fact that it is important for the students not to miss classes at
colleges or university.
