Introduction
The nursing staffing ratio is a situation related to make compulsory availability of adequate
nursing staff at the shift in the hospital. An increased demand for registered nurses in the
sector of health care is raising issues to manage the effective supply of the nurses. This
research paper reflects article analysis and literature review to analyze the impact of the
nursing staff shortage and recommendations suggested as essential to manage the effective
nursing staff and patient ratio in a hospital.
Article Analysis
According to Harrington and others, nurses engaged in the patient healthcare and nursing
department need help from the nurses, hospital administration is required to maintain 8 hours
shift for the nurse, and nursing care is essential to available for 24 hours. Hence, night-shift
and rotational shift cause issues to nursing practice and this led job dissatisfaction well. This
article identifies that the shortage of nursing is a global issue. The article used the comparison
of six countries managing the staffing practices to provide the best health care in the country
hoe their legal and ethical concerns play an effective contribution to help staffing ratios
(Harrington, Schnelle, McGregor, & Simmons, 2016).
According to Juraschek and others, Registered nurses (RNs) play a serious role in health care
services and delivery. Increasing population and increased number of patients in the hospital
and nursing staff there is a risk of poor staff management, and this poor staff management is
possible to lead many challenges as poor health care services and delayed services,
sometimes delay in the nursing care cause a high risk to patient's health and led many other
issues. This article effectively represents the points of concern and represents the effective
