Summarizing the nature, aims and hypothesis of the study
Changing lifestyle, fast foods and excessive food consumption has resulted in chronic-
diseases, deaths and heart diseases. The main risk of all these impact are related to increase in
weight. There are various natural, medical and physical methods that can help in reducing the fat
stored in the body. One such aromatherapeutic method is Garcinia Cambogia consumed with
Amorphophallus konjac that is considered as the safe methods to reduce the body weight
(Zalewski, Chmielewska & Szajewska, 2015). The first one is the topical fruits that is popularly
known as Malabar tamarind while the other is exotic Asian plant (Esteghamati,Mazaheri, Rad &
Noshad, 2015). Collectively they are efficient in reducing the fat and body weight inside the
body. Current report is about the how these two helps in reducing the obesity level by referring
to the relevant study from Phototherapy Research.
Summarizing the methods used in the selected study and its participants
There are methods such as lifestyle modification, physical exercise and regulating diet
that can help in maintaining the obesity and weight. However, these methods requires relevant
time and little efforts. Fatty acid biosynthesis can be done through the Hydroxycitric Acid
(HCA) that is present in the Garcinia Cambogia while the other is helpful in reducing the
absorption of the dietary fats as there is high content of the Glucomannan Fiber (Astell, Mathai,
& Su, 2013). The aim of the research was to evaluate the efficacy of the two standardized
extracts that are used for curing the obesity. In this, extracts of A. Konjac (94.9% glucomannan)
is integrated with the G. Cambogia (52.4% HCA) (Sweeting, Hocking & Markovic, 2015). The
report was carried out through the double-blind randomized study which was used to evaluate the
pharmacotherapeutic efficacy of standardized extracts.
Detail the main finding of the selected study
For the research, person that were suffering from the obesity were selected in which 26
participants were assigned as placebo group. The other 32 were entitled as the treatment group. It
was conducted for more than 12-weeks and there was no restriction in the dietary applied to the
patients. A very small amount of dose was provided to them which included both the material as
2.4g Garcinia with addition to 1.5g of Konjac, before starting of their main meal. The
observation were taken after every 4 months which included circumferences and body
composition, height, weight, glucose levels, lipid profile and resting energy expenditure (REE)
(Billes, Sinnayah & Cowley, 2014). Treatment has significant impact on the

hypocholesterolemic effect, however, there was no impact on the anthropometric parameters,
glucose levels, REE and triglycerides (Onakpoya, Posadzki & Ernst, 2014). Based on the study
there was positive outcomes. It was found that due to the treatment there was significant decrease
in the LDL-c levels and control over the total cholesterol. Moreover, it was found that the results
were significantly lower than the participants that were available in placebo group.
When weekly data was collected it was found that people that were consuming the dose
were consuming less appetite. Moreover, due to presence of the HFA there was significant
reduce in their BMI rate. Further, it was helpful in decreasing the effects of the diabetes and
many other heart related diseases. These are natural elements are does not have side effects
which can happen due to other medical surgeries and other activities. Along with this, there is no
requirement of the other nutrients as these substance contains many minerals, vitamin and fibers.
The participants were selected from the Australia, as there are many people in the country
that were affected from the obesity level. For this purpose, double-blind randomized study was
conducted for the relevance of the study. Under the study, the patients were unaware about the
medical treatment they were receiving. The cure was provided to them through the computer
based system, in which the code assigned is the treatment group. The method is mostly used for
the medical purpose and to carry out the scientific methodology. 58 people from different age
groups were selected that were having higher obesity level. All the people were free to consume
any type of food and at any time but during their main 3 meals, the person has to take the dose
that contain the Garcinia (2.4 g) plus Konjac (1.5 g). It was found that after consuming the dose
they feel less hungry and they can completely work at all the position. From the main finding it
can be said that all the hypothesis that were selected in the study were covered. Effective
outcomes support the answer that due to presence of the HFA the fat stored in the body reduces
to significant rate that too without any physical exercise (Jordan, 2013). It can be used by the
people that are having higher weight gain. Along with this, it was found that the results were
significantly lower than placebo groups. The outcome that were generated were p = 0.008 and p
= 0.020. However, the dose that was provided to the 3 months was only limited to the 2.4g of the
G. cambogia and 1.5g of the A. konjac.
Potential threat to internal and external validity in the research design
In the present articles there are some potential threat to internal and external validity in
the research design. For testing the robustness of the overall analysis there is sensitive analysis

was performed. The first trial is done with parallel group design which exclude two studies
which were crossover (Behera & Ray, 2016). Further, in second meta analysis for studies which
is conducted with the parallel groups' design and dosage ranges of HCA lie between HCA and
placebo. In a third meta investigation it takes out three studies as because it not reveals a
significant difference in weight loss between palcebo and HCA. The present research is
conducted because overweight and obesity is increases regularly. Further obesity is chronic
disease which become highly prevalent in present times (Semwal, Semwal, Vermaak & Viljoen,
2015). It also becomes of the major risk factor and connected with high mortality that is ischemic
heart diseases. Further the link between heart disease and cardiovascular is clearly established.
It is analysed that Amorphophallus seem to reduce the absorption kinetics of dietary fat.
There are some warning associated with Konjac that it must be used up with at least 8 ounces of
water in order to forbid esophageal blockage. Along with this it is identified that
Amorphophallus Konjac is not digestible as because it is a fibrous substance that passes through
the digestive tract (Onakpoya, Posadzki & Ernst, 2014). Further it is find out that it cannot be
given to diabetic patients as because it creates expectation of lowering the blood sugar to unsafe
level from extended use. It is find out that Amorphoallus Knojac is known as natural substance
which is handle under the direction of a health care professionals. One of the main objective of
systematic review is to evaluate the effectivity and power of HCA for reducing the weight. The
reason of selecting systematic review is that to examine the efficiency of Garacinia extract ande
Hydrocholir acid.
Further, evidence which is arrived from RCT state that Gracinia extracts help in reducing
the weight for short term. Further, it is find out that there are some variations in research design
as because all study include parallel research design (Astell, Mathai & Su, 2013) . The entire
result it interpreted with caution. In this study primary research was conducted so that valid and
reliable information can be collected. All the findings which are presented is effective ans useful
in respect to decrease the chances of obesity. The result which is arrived from a systematic
review is corroborates the finding of the previous research.
Suggestions
It is concluded, that present research is based on Evaluation of the pharmacotherapeutic
efficacy of Garcinia cambogia plus Amorphophallus konjac for the treatment of obesity. Here
sample size is taken into consideration for primary research that is 58 obese who were assigned

to the placebo groups that are 26 and treatment group that is 32. At the time of starting treatment
height, body composition and circumferences were recorded. Further it is noticed that there was
no significant effect reflected on anthropometric parameters. While there is slightly reduction
was noticed in their cholesterol in a selected sample. Therefore, it can be stated that entire
research was effective and its findings are valid. Along with this the main compound of Garcinia
cambogia is hydroexcitirc acid is discussed. The impact of Amorphophallus konjac on diabetic
patient is also taken into consideration. Here the aim of this double blind randomized research is
to measure the pharmacotherapy. It is important to consume Amorphophallus konjac carefully
so that it chances of getting impacted can be avoided.
