The Burj Khalifa project was delayed by 9 months and cost overran by 100%. The project management group underestimated the labor requirements, leading to a delay in resource mobilization. If proper planning had been done, the scope of work would have matched the resources allocated, avoiding the delay and cost overrun. Although the project faced challenges, it was ultimately completed and inaugurated in January 2010. To avoid similar issues in future projects, detailed risk analysis and scope planning should be done in advance.
