This report provides a critical evaluation of two vignettes related to TUI Group's post-pandemic initiatives. The first vignette discusses the effectiveness of TUI's master classes in promoting innovation and creative problem-solving. The second vignette evaluates the effectiveness of hackathons in solving business issues and suggests alternative problem-solving approaches. The report recommends the use of structured problem-solving and design thinking approaches to foster innovation and improve growth.

INTRODUCTION
Entrepreneur is known as an individual that creates a new business which take various risk
and in return get rewards. This is basically and process of setting the business and an individual
is known as source of new idea and innovators. Along with this, present report has been based
on TUI Group which is one of the most leading company in tourism, cruise and hotel as well as
have rich heritage of over 40 years in the industry. The study will further discuss about two
different vignettes related with after post pandemic and critical analysis of both the situation has
been done.

General power hours and master classes available for anyone in the org to participate
According to Donald Kurtok Entrepreneurial Mind set is describe as way of thinking which
enable and entrepreneur to overcome the challenges, accept the responsibility of the outcomes
and to be decisive. It motivates an individual to improve their skills set, learn from their mistakes
and make use of actions in order to develop innovative ideas. Kurtok also stated that any person
who willing work can develop entrepreneurial mind-set. Entrepreneurship give birth to
innovation which help in exploring the areas of business (Cvetkovic and Martinović, 2020).
Although mind set of TUI believes in diversity, flexible working, open communication as well as
encourage development of new idea. In addition to this, TUI way of working is hybrid and it
believes in creating culture of trust and passion which enable sense of belonging among
employees. So the mildest of TUI is related with theory of Donald Kurtok and it believes in
innovation and for accomplishing it company has launched various programme such as master
class during post pandemic so that objectives can be achieved in better ways.
TUI has conducted General power hours and master class available for anyone within
company.
Every employee has 40 hours of worktime in a year to attend professional development of their
choice. Although the motive behind implementing master class was to create collaboration as
any worker can train other people regarding one of its course. Another reason for implementing
this was TUI has specialists and it have so much knowledge and it do want to make that available
to each and every one present in the company (Al-Dulimi and et.al., 2020). The reason for the

ineffectiveness of TUI master class was it was very time consuming and the working of the
employees is bit complex so it cannot make use of all the techniques described in master class.
Although during the time of COVID master class motive was to build innovation and to give
training to workers so that it can learn new things. However, it was hard for applying all the
techniques while doing the job in effective manner because working hours of TUI is strict.
Although the main reason for conducting the master class was to improve the creativity level of
workers so that it can contribute in overall growth of the organization. Although one of the
reason for ineffectiveness of master class was employees not able to learn things properly as
there most of the time was being wasted by the company (Arvianto and et.al., 2021). Although
some of the class was taken by external trainee and it was the biggest reason for the
ineffectiveness of the class. As it was focus more on other aspects and not related to TUI values.
The training session should be focus on individual and organizational development so that
employees feel more connected. While external was taking the class it was just telling ways an
individual can develop themselves and deal with the challenges. In the end it was hard for the
workers to stay connected with session because they had no idea how to use all the techniques in
context with TUI. So initiative of master class was not very much effective to workers during
the time of post pandemic. However, it has been stated by Tony Proctor that creative problem
solving is very supportive of practice that helps the management in dealing with challenges of
business in effective manner. Author has defined some factors which may inhibit creativity and
can be adopted by any individual. Strategic block means one right answer approach in which an
individual most really on the past experience or specific techniques in order to deal with the
problem (Maaravi and et.al., 2021). Although value block in which personal beliefs and values
restrict the range of ideas and it can contribute in organizational dilemmas. Perceptual blocks
usually arise when there is a lack of awareness at physical level and it can contribute to lack of
implication of situations. Also self-image block is due to lack of confidence in the values of one
own ideas. These are all barriers which impact the growth of an individual in creative thinking. It
can be state that another reason for failures of TUI master class was not fulling the gap of
creative blocks. If lessons are more focused on personal challenges caused by workers than it
will more motivated for working hard. The reason for promoting such initiatives was to build
innovative thinking within workers so that it can deal with the challenges of pandemic.

Furthermore, it is to be recommended to TUI is that training is technique for solving the
problem as business has been changing with rapid speed and there is need to strengthen several
skills of employees in order to deal with the challenges. For developing creative thinking, it is
necessary to make use of structured problem solving. Moreover, structured problem solving is
process of solving the problems wither big or small by making use of specific steps within set
time limits. Various authors of management have stated that problem solving is one of the most
underrated skill in management as manager of company fails to analyse or understand challenges
and what they are trying to solve. In the term of business, it is crucial for business because it has
various benefits like saving of resources, decreasing risks and crease in the revenue. Thus, the
motive of TUI should be teaching their workers regarding structure solving instead to teaching
employees regarding other work area (Meinecke, and et.al., 2020). The structured problem
solving would have helped in identifying bottlenecks in process explain ways related with data
when incident is occurred. Thus, it offers ways to solve problems and prevent them from
occurring again. In addition, for problem solving structure can be applied through Plan do check
act cycle process h when starting a new improvement project. In the stage of planning phase
problem need to be define. In second stage of ‘do’ implement the idea which are planned and
less risky. Also, in ‘check’ phase data collected for solving is analysed and in act phases scale
out the solution. Moreover, it is to be recommended to TUI to make use of brainstorming method
as it helps in developing innovative ideas and benefits an individual in finding solution or
strategy. In brain writing each individual to writer down several ideas for dealing with the
problems and all this idea are collected and sort by team leaders (Banytė and et.al., 2020). It is
one of the best techniques that work for teams who wants to contribute their ideas for
development of company. Along with this, another technique which can be use by TUI is online
brainstorming in which teams are connected virtually and for developing the interest of works
remote games can be used. Teams can make use of cloud based document storage, remote white
boarding tools and other online collaboration tool.
In addition to this, role storming is also another technique allow step out of their own skin
and allow them to them to think about the problem and opportunity in innovative way and often
come up with new and creative ideas. It is also one of the easier ways to develop innovative
ideas and become the best for the company. Along with this, discussion need to be done in the
group so that person would approach the problem and think about the ideas. Mostly, TUI needs

to focus teaching their values to their employees and try to collaborate with their skill set and
values of the company in order to get appropriate objectives.

Teams, departments or communities occasionally run hackathons
In year of 2021, Northern regional hackathon was conducted by TUI group in order to
solve the issues arising in business but it was not applicable due to lack of IT team and legal tech
teams. Along with this, the reason for the ineffectiveness of this programme was majority of the
employees of TUI do not possess advance IT skills. Although employees are not even in
participating the scheme due less collaboration with company. However, commercial team has
launched light bulb lab which only focused on internal department issues. One of the reasons for
ineffectiveness of such initiatives was Silo mentality which is define as mind-set in which
information is not clearly shared with the employees of different functional unit in the same
company. Because of this attitude workplace culture of the company was disturbed and it lead in
worst corporate culture (Zhai and et.al., 2020). The reason for development of this mind-set is
competition among senior’s manager and this is creating low morale and negative workflow.
Due to this reason there was lack of participation by legal and IT team. This type of
mentality reflects narrow vision and workers are do not seen the bigger picture and having
critical role in that bigger picture. In addition to this, fragmented workplace is one where
workers use several sources to communicate with each other. Along with this, TUI is large
company and it is connected with remote area workers through virtual platforms and due to that
there are higher chances in miss communication. However, a fragmented work area need to have
common platform which have necessary workplace tools so that team members do not have to
select apps or search through different formats of communication in order to gain information.
Thus, TUI need to have one collaboration tool that works with all other app. If company, make
use of unified communication platform and all data has been store in one place will avoid the
wasted time and allow workers to do something productive (Tsai and et.al., 2020). TUI can make
use of Zoho Clip which will integrate with different apps and team can make use of one platform
for discussing tasks with team, to get status regarding project or to give update. Thus, it is one of
the effective way for whole team to stay in loop so that no information is missed.
Moreover, for collaborating with teams TUI can establish communication conventions as it
builds and boost team relation. Proper communication plan is required in which each member of

the team should have idea about their roles and responsibility and way of communication in case
of emergency. Although team build activities can be used in order to make them feel connected
with the company and this is one of the best opportunity to get to known about each and inside
and out of work. Along with this, TUI can make use of different systematic process for different
problem such as product service issues will be solving by marketing department and
management issues will be solved by HR sector. If the path of communication is clear, then there
will be no conflict among each department. For example: TUI commercial team has launched
lightbulb which only focus on internal department issue which may create issues as TUI is
fragmented company it also need to focus on external threats too in order to survive in high
competition. Moreover, problem solving approach need to be adopted by TUI so that challenges
can be met in effective manner (Ulger, 2018). Creative problem solving approach is the best as it
will allow employees and employers to identify appropriate solution even though problem has
been defined or not. However, creative problem solving is less structured than other innovation
process and it give open ended solution. It focuses on introducing new ideas and fostering
creativity within organization. Some of the benefits of problem solving is finding creative
solution to complex problem such as TUI management team needs to conduct research and
define the complexity of the situation. On other hand innovation process is based on such
information while creative problem solving can yield solution without information. It is well
known fact that business has be changing from day to day so in order to cope up with challenges
and opportunities. In such case creative problem solving will help in meeting unforeseen
challenges and find convenient solution to problem. In addition to this, creative problem solving
is one of the best way to bring innovative ideas that helps in driving growth of company
(Simanjuntak and et.al., 2021). All such ideas can lead to new product lines, services as well as
modified operations structure which may improve efficiency. TUI is facing issue in finding out
innovative ideas and in order to increase creative thinking company has started master class and
similar initiatives to overcome the challenges easily. It is to be recommended to TUI can make
use of design thinking approach in order to find right solution.
Design thinking is basically human centred method that helps in developing innovative ideas
which help company in improving their growth rate. There are basically four stage of this
framework in the first stage is known as clarification which allow user to identify problems
through research or observation. Finding are then reframed as problem statement or question

which helps in solving the problem easily Along with this, ideation is the process in which
innovative ideas is brought and it is the major focus while solving the problems. In the
development of stage in which ideas involve while doing experiment and test. Last stage is
known as implement involves continuing test and experiment in order to get the solution.
Creative problem solving is useful tools in which brainstorming method can be used in order to
find the right solution (Ritter and Mostert, 2018). It involves open discussion and debate of ideas
and topics which facilitates in generating ideas and exploration as different team members
consider the same concept from different channels. Moreover, alternate worlds tools are
empathetic approach for solving problem as it encourages way of approaching situation from
viewpoints of various individuals. Thus, it can be stated that entrepreneur should learn deign
thinking as it is one of the effective way to build skills and foster creativity and innovation.
CONCLUSION
From the above report it has been concluded that entrepreneur need various working skills in
order to be successful. One of the major skill is creative thinking and to come up with innovative
idea so that it can deal appropriately with challenges. Also, the report has summarized about
creative thinking problem solving approach and the way TUI group can make us of it in order to
be more innovative during post pandemic. The study has also concluded on training techniques
like brainstorming session which can help employees in developing their creative thinking skills.
