Title: Attachment-based family therapy and individual emotion-focused therapy for unresolved
anger: Qualitative analysis of treatment outcomes and change processes. By: Steinmann,
Ravit, Gat, Inbal, Nir-Gottlieb, Ofir, Shahar, Ben, Diamond, Gary M., Psychotherapy,
00333204, 20170901, Vol. 54, Issue 3
TITLE
The title used for this qualitative research paper is quite clear as it gives an understanding
of the content of the paper. The problem can be clearly identified, which in this case is
unresolved anger. The interventions have also been clearly identified – attachment based family
therapy and individual emotion focused therapy. According to Ritchie et al., (2016), the title of a
research paper needs to be catchy as well as attractive to leaners. Additionally the title should
also consist of appropriate key words for locating them in the databases. It should not be
overburdened with medical jargon, so that the leaders lose interest at the first place. One of the
drawback of the title is that it has not mentioned anything about the target audience, over which
the interventions will be tested.
ABSTRACT
The power of an abstract is to provide a summarization of the paper within 300-350
words. In an abstract, the main content of the paper are arranged systematically, like the overall
aim of the study, the research question, the methods used, basic finding followed by the results
and explanation of the analyze data.
The abstract of the chosen paper contains all the elements to provide an overview of the
paper, but it would have been better to categorize the information in to sections like background
methods in order to make it easy for the learners (Ritchie et al., 2017). There was a clear

mentioning of the aim and objectives of the paper. It also contains a short background of the
topic supported by evidence based research papers selected from database.
INTRODUCTION
The introduction of the articles clearly displays use of research articles as references. The
contents of the introduction have been supported by cross references. The introductory part of
the articles gives us a clear idea about the entire study that has been done, including information
about the number of participants involved, about their current mental status. The introduction is
also weak equipped with resources about the type of behavior normally displayed by children,
towards their parents. Information about both the attachment based family and individual
emotion based therapy and how these models has been used previously to identify the needs of
young people with unresolved anger. The author has also clarified why these methods have been
taken up and how these methods have been found to be successful in some of previous clinical
trials. The paper had described in details the unmet attachment of the children to their parents.
Each and every research paper should contain some contents, which would tend to motivate the
readers about what they would be reading about in the rest of the paper. This research paper does
not contain any hypothesis, but a large number of research papers had used form informing about
the way, the researcher had been thinking and the way it has been concluded.
METHODS
The article has used a qualitative methodology in order to understand intensity of the
perceived unresolved anger (Padgett, 2016).Qualitative studies are mainly used in social science
to explore the social interaction and processes (Padgett, 2016). The methodology section of the
paper contains information about the number of clients that has been selected for the interview.
