I have learnt about child welfare workforce that has been put forward by the Children’s
Bureau of Australia. I have been able to comprehend the fact that every child requires to be
protected from violence, exploitation as well as abuse. The word child protection has mostly
been coined by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund. This has helped
me to get an overview regarding the concept related to child protection. I have been able to
comprehend the fact that the children who are uniquely vulnerable to abuses are also part of
UNICEF child protection program. Child protection takes place to prevent child abuse thus
creating a protective environment for boys as well as girls. I have learnt about the assertion
related to humanity that reflects on the fact that humanism is decisive to social work
(Sheehan, 2018). The program also aims to protect children from natural disasters, global
pandemics as well as conflicts. I have also learnt about several laws that are related to
children protection. The Children Act 1908 as well as the Children and Young Person Act
1920 mostly aimed to deal with child abuse. The law aims to carry out particular conventions
that are related to employing women. The Act aimed to amend the law with regards to
employing women as well young individuals working in workshops as well as factories. I
have also learnt about the challenges that are witnessed by children in terms of violence as
well as sexual abuse. Child protection act also aims to safeguard children from child marriage
(Van et al. 2015). The children who are married at an early age are also deprived from
education as well as sustainable development. I have also found that only 62 percent of the
children possess child birth certificate. The law that has been initiated by keeping child
protection in mind also aims to increase the importance of possessing child birth certificate. I
have learnt that a proper child birth registration helps to protect children by bestowing them
with legal rights. A birth certificate acts as a legal proof that makes sure that the children gets
a permanent existence record. This will eradicate the issue that is related to separation of
children from their family members during the crisis time. I have learnt that it is imperative
for every child care institution to be placed appropriately that will foster child care thus
keeping in mind requirements of the family members. It has been found that the childcare in
most institutions is subject to risk. The implementation as well as introduction to several
childcare laws has helped the children to get hold of diverse justice system as they are more
structured (Lonne et al. 2015). I have comprehended the fact that a child requires special care
mostly when they are victim to child abuse as well as violence. The rate of child abuse has
been rising with each passing day that requires to be stopped at a point of time. There are
multiple ways in which a child is detained that includes child soldiers as well as bonder
labour. The long-term child abuse requires to be stopped by educating the children as well as

their family members. This will not only improve their overall health but will also develop
their knowledge. This will also lead to parallel development of the children for tomorrow.
The introduction to child protection programs will develop the quality of the present
education system. I have comprehended the fact that it is decisive for every school to
introduce child education in order to groom the cognitive abilities of the children. This will in
turn contribute immensely towards the development of young minds. I have learnt that school
is the foremost basis of knowledge that requires to be exposed to the children. This
contributes towards cultivating the thought procedure (Bilson and Martin, 2016). While going
through conception, a child goes through multiple physical development. This helps to
channelize energy of a child into multiple sociable awareness. It is imperative to involve
children in activities such as sports that will direct their boundless energy into something that
is productive. I have also learnt that most of the social workers are involved in the activities
that are related to child protection. It is known to provide direct services to the children as
well as their families.
The acknowledgement of the number of various approaches available in the concern of child
protection has been quite informative to me. It was known that there exist some bodies which
works in favour of the child protection and the steps has been social completely, but the
number of bodies available for the act surprised me when I came to know that there are huge
number of bodies working in this concern (Lane et al. 2016). The child protection has been
taken as one of the most important acts all over the world and in Australia the concern has
been provided with immense importance. On assessing the World Vision’s Child Protection
Approach, I realized that the entire world has been working in favour of the children
protection from anti-social acts and this view of the world has helped me in building a trust in
the people of the world, that humanity do exist. The increasing inhuman acts has been
impacting my thoughts and an initiation of negative thoughts was popping up but on being
revealed to the facts that there are larger number of people doing good than those executing
inhuman acts. The united approach towards the protection of children from the world has
revealed to me that initiation of good acts needs to be taken by the people and this would
provide encouragement to others and be a part of it. This has strengthened my opinion about
humanity and the way the world works out. Though there exist multiple issues and problems,
the people has taken up the cause of child protection with immense seriousness and this has

helped in saving huge number of children too (Taplin and Mattick, 2015). UNICEF is one of
the groups which has been working in this concern since ages and it is known by almost all
the people of the world. Even I was accustomed to it, but the facts about the institution was
strengthened when it was revealed to me that it has been working day and night and has been
in search of various working groups in this respect, and provides helping hand to them. I used
to carry a perspective that the social institutions work for their own benefit and not for the
social cause but this has been transformed majorly through the acknowledgement of the facts
in the class, that the institutions has been working day and night and has saved around
thousands and millions of people from the abuse (Cossar et al. 2016). These facts has helped
me in gaining confidence in the social institutions and the cause for which it has been
working has been improving gradually. The classes has helped me in understanding the
hidden cause of the existence of these social issues and the issues that the children faces in
their life due to which they becomes victim of trafficking, social abuse, and other inhuman
acts. The most shocking and surprising cause has been violence at home and abuse at home
which creates a scenario for the children of losing hope completely as their own home is not
safe for them (Banks et al. 2017).
On understanding the workings of the various bodies working for child protection it has been
acknowledged that the bodies consider the multiple factors and background of the family and
some minor and petty considerations which actually help them in reaching to the root of the
cause or the reason behind the existence of the exploitation or the inhuman act (Lincoln,
2017). This logical yet easy to avid factor, has provided me with concept that each of the
actions be it human or inhuman is related to the person’s background or the initial stages of
his growth. In other way round it could also be stated that in order to provide a solution to
any issue it is required or it is recommended that the roots of the cause of the issue needs to
be assessed which could provide the exact and accurate reason for its existence (Beigbeder,
2017). UNICEF has been one of the organisations which has been supporting the act of
controlling the child abuse or exploitation in any form through providing finances,
monitoring the actions required, human resources required, governance, laws, etc. This
provided me with a concept that support is required for execution of large scale tasks and in
order to receive the support one has to plan an act which would provide some fruitful and
productive outcome to the society as a whole. UNICEF has been working in this regard
because children are the future and in order to save the future, it is mandatory to take some
effective and empowering action (Bissell, 2016). The discussion provided on the first ever

Global Strategy of the Plan International has brought in some intense and hard core interest
of the world in the protection of children which was unknown to me (Wodak and Meyer,
2015). The requirement of protecting the children has been revealed through this discussion
and it has helped me in adding on to my knowledge that in order to save or create an
environment of saving the needful, requires some initiation and it needs to be supported by
some personalities so that the cause gets recognised easily and the execution gets simplified.
Systematic procedure is required for executing the tasks in the most effective manner as this
would help in presenting the facts and the data in the most understanding manner to the
people whose support would be based on it (Cournoyer, 2016). Thus, in order to create
something new or take an initiative in order to save the abundant resources of the society, one
has to be systematic and content with the facts which helps in gathering the attention of the
people and thus support. Showering light on the right of the children to live a normal life and
the right to protest or demand their normal life has provided on with the scenario that no
human could b deprived of their rights on any condition and this provides them with the
courage and the right to demand a safe and a secured environment by the government. The
law body should be framed and structured in a manner that each human or each child stays
protected and safe within its country boundaries and even beyond that The demand of
security is the right of the people and so of the children which needs to be realized by the
children and thus, it could be done through various programs and actions (Ferguson, 2018).
The Children’s Bureau of Australia has been known to me but it works so regressively in
order to provide the children with the protection from any inhuman act was not known to me.
The work of the bureau has been quite regressive and the planning of the works has been
done in consideration of the inhuman acts that has been experienced by the children at large.
This has helped in providing the bureau with an accurate strategy and system which has been
able to save several children from the dark side of humanity (Fook, 2016). The
acknowledgement of the entire learning has provided me with number of unknown facts and
has actually strengthened my views and concepts on child protection as well as on other
social acts taken up by multiple bodies of concern (Kirkpatrick, 2017). The workings of the
social bodies require such intense and regressive work schedules as well as the planning and
the strategies to be taken by them needs to be accurate in approach in order to gain the
attention of the public so that the body could grow and expand in all parts of the country. The
expansion is the best way to reduce the inhuman acts and this has been known through the
learning (Gilbert et al. 2015). The gradual improvements in the working of the social bodies
Document Page
has been the proof that the bodies has been trying to improvise their services and the motto of
the bodies hat is to serve the society at large has been proved correct.
The learning has provided me with innumerable number of benefits which could be applied in
my work and this would favour my social work immensely. The entire learning on the child
protection working has been broad enough to include the need of the body and the
requirement of the body in the society which would help me in being clear about the cause of
the framework of my social body. This is one of the major ingredients or the requirements of
framing a social body which creates or helps in setting the gaol of the social body (Ife, 2015).
The support that is required by the social body in order to get identified in the society is
another major requirement of the social body and this is one of the major requirements as this
would help in gaining the attention of the people which would provide the social body with
the working ingredients. The human resources, finances, governmental support, laws and
every consideration would be based on the above two requirements which would be applied
by me in the social body that I would frame (Box, 2015). The learning has provided me with
a large scope and a broad platform for planning for the social practice and the demands that
needs to be fulfilled in the practice has also been revealed. The number of approaches that
has been provided in the lectures has been wide enough to include almost all the vital
ingredients of a social working body and the requirements that needs to be fulfilled
(Macfarlane, 2014). The inter connection among all the ingredients has been revealed which
helped me in gaining the importance of each ingredient and thus its application in my
practices would be done without any second thought. The lectures and the learnings has been
quite productive for me and in order to plan for my social practices, these considerations
would help me in gaining accuracy and quality in my services which would enhance the
society and thus, the main motto of the social body would be achieved (Morley, 2016). The
workings of a social body requires emotional as well as practical applications which needs to
be balanced in the social worker and tis would be maintained and applied by me in my
practices through considering the need of the situation and thus, the practices would provide
fruitful results to me.
