CRITICAL SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE: REFLECTION

I have learnt about child welfare workforce that has been put forward by the Children’s
Bureau of Australia. I have been able to comprehend the fact that every child requires to be
protected from violence, exploitation as well as abuse. The word child protection has mostly
been coined by the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund. This has helped
me to get an overview regarding the concept related to child protection. I have been able to
comprehend the fact that the children who are uniquely vulnerable to abuses are also part of
UNICEF child protection program. Child protection takes place to prevent child abuse thus
creating a protective environment for boys as well as girls. I have learnt about the assertion
related to humanity that reflects on the fact that humanism is decisive to social work
(Sheehan, 2018). The program also aims to protect children from natural disasters, global
pandemics as well as conflicts. I have also learnt about several laws that are related to
children protection. The Children Act 1908 as well as the Children and Young Person Act
1920 mostly aimed to deal with child abuse. The law aims to carry out particular conventions
that are related to employing women. The Act aimed to amend the law with regards to
employing women as well young individuals working in workshops as well as factories. I
have also learnt about the challenges that are witnessed by children in terms of violence as
well as sexual abuse. Child protection act also aims to safeguard children from child marriage
(Van et al. 2015). The children who are married at an early age are also deprived from
education as well as sustainable development. I have also found that only 62 percent of the
children possess child birth certificate. The law that has been initiated by keeping child
protection in mind also aims to increase the importance of possessing child birth certificate. I
have learnt that a proper child birth registration helps to protect children by bestowing them
with legal rights. A birth certificate acts as a legal proof that makes sure that the children gets
a permanent existence record. This will eradicate the issue that is related to separation of
children from their family members during the crisis time. I have learnt that it is imperative
for every child care institution to be placed appropriately that will foster child care thus
keeping in mind requirements of the family members. It has been found that the childcare in
most institutions is subject to risk. The implementation as well as introduction to several
childcare laws has helped the children to get hold of diverse justice system as they are more
structured (Lonne et al. 2015). I have comprehended the fact that a child requires special care
mostly when they are victim to child abuse as well as violence. The rate of child abuse has
been rising with each passing day that requires to be stopped at a point of time. There are
multiple ways in which a child is detained that includes child soldiers as well as bonder
labour. The long-term child abuse requires to be stopped by educating the children as well as

their family members. This will not only improve their overall health but will also develop
their knowledge. This will also lead to parallel development of the children for tomorrow.
The introduction to child protection programs will develop the quality of the present
education system. I have comprehended the fact that it is decisive for every school to
introduce child education in order to groom the cognitive abilities of the children. This will in
turn contribute immensely towards the development of young minds. I have learnt that school
is the foremost basis of knowledge that requires to be exposed to the children. This
contributes towards cultivating the thought procedure (Bilson and Martin, 2016). While going
through conception, a child goes through multiple physical development. This helps to
channelize energy of a child into multiple sociable awareness. It is imperative to involve
children in activities such as sports that will direct their boundless energy into something that
is productive. I have also learnt that most of the social workers are involved in the activities
that are related to child protection. It is known to provide direct services to the children as
well as their families.
The acknowledgement of the number of various approaches available in the concern of child
protection has been quite informative to me. It was known that there exist some bodies which
works in favour of the child protection and the steps has been social completely, but the
number of bodies available for the act surprised me when I came to know that there are huge
number of bodies working in this concern (Lane et al. 2016). The child protection has been
taken as one of the most important acts all over the world and in Australia the concern has
been provided with immense importance. On assessing the World Vision’s Child Protection
Approach, I realized that the entire world has been working in favour of the children
protection from anti-social acts and this view of the world has helped me in building a trust in
the people of the world, that humanity do exist. The increasing inhuman acts has been
impacting my thoughts and an initiation of negative thoughts was popping up but on being
revealed to the facts that there are larger number of people doing good than those executing
inhuman acts. The united approach towards the protection of children from the world has
revealed to me that initiation of good acts needs to be taken by the people and this would
provide encouragement to others and be a part of it. This has strengthened my opinion about
humanity and the way the world works out. Though there exist multiple issues and problems,
the people has taken up the cause of child protection with immense seriousness and this has
