INTRODUCTIONIn the clinical practice, nurses address different situations involving patients with distinctand different issues and health care requirements. Effective decision making plays an efficient role in the quality of care that nurses provide topatients. An adverse events and negative consequence to the patients can be produced due topoor decision making (Monitoring the progress of health and social care integration,2016).According to national board of nursing and midwifery board of Australia only qualifiednurses can take part in decision making and practice within competency standard . The nationaldecision-making framework develop strategies for national workforce that enhances diversity,adaptability and sensibility in the workforce.In this report a critical analysis will be conducted on the national decision-making toolsand the associated flowcharts that contributes toward making clinical practice effective . An alsoan illustration will be discussed related to clinical decision that are made by qualified nurses inan intense care setting.contribution of decision-making tools and the associated flowcharts Clinical decision making are the well reasoned and evidence based decisions that help inappropriate patient care. In healthcare department, it plays an essential role. The ability ofhealthcare professionals to provide high quality and safe health care services completely dependsupon their capability to think, judge and reasoning. These abilities are found to be absent in someprofessionals due to lack of experience (Tiffen, Corbridge, and Slimmer, 2014). Decision making toolsThere are various decision making tools that help nurses and practitioner to takeappropriate decision related to practices for example: decision boxes, they are the facts thatcontain a brief summary of all the benefits and harms that are concerned with particularintervention and is sometimes presented in two columns. Second tool is option grids it is thesummary of one page regarding information of all possible options in which the patient centeredresult and the inquiry that is been done frequently by few consumers are addressed. (Joseph-Williams, Elwyn and Edwards, 2014). This summary is useful when patient is consulted on thebasis of his/her requirement. In the same series there is another decision making tools namedquestion prompt list or check list.
