Community council is a kind of voluntary organization which is set up by statute by the
local authority and is run by local residents in order to act on the behalf of their area. These
community councils focus on various aspects that are important to be focused on for the benefit
of their society.

Short Community profile:
Croydon community is one of the largest communities in south London. This essay will
lay emphasis on Croydon community which is London’s southern-most borough that
covers an area of 87 square Kilometres. It is second most populous London borough
that focuses on aiming to help public sector organizations and residents better
understand overall profile of the communities living in Croydon.
Long profile of the community
Community focus:
This community focuses on wellbeing and needs of the society. In order to boost
wellbeing and mental health of community they have opened various health centres. But
they are facing various challenges to keep their community people healthy.
Monitoring and surveillance: Deakin, A., 2017. Not just a patient: GP support for carers in
Croydon.
Croydon community has partnership with various organizations such as NHS and
continuously communicates with them in order to monitor health aspects of their resident
people. They continuously monitor and keep a surveillance on their people in order to
understand health issues that are mostly faced by them. In fact, most of the health aspects
that this community focuses on and monitor are for children up to age of 16 or 18.
Health aspects:
According to a recent survey this community is facing various kinds of health problems
due to rapid expansion of the town which is leading or increasing various kinds of health
problems. When investigated it was found that various children are facing iron deficiency
without anaemia. Not only this most of the children below 18 years of age are facing
obesity health problems as well because of which it is becoming a health issue which is
required to be focused on.

and death rate in a society. Due to iron deficiency and obesity within children is affecting
overall birth and death rate of Croydon community. Croydon has largest population of
young people and children. Croydon has many healthcare centres and primary care
houses where various healthcare professional focuses on improving overall health of
people. Many healthcare centres within Croydon are focusing on providing routine
healthcare check-ups in order to assess iron deficiency within children and identify how
many children are facing obesity problem. They are also focusing on increasing
awareness among people to bring changes within their diet and daily routine.
Nutrition transition:
Nutrition transition can help them to reduce this iron deficiency and obesity problem
which is faced by younger children. By bringing changes within diet of children can not
only help them to reduce iron deficiency within them but will also help them to enhance
their health and help over weight children to reduce their weight and increase their
quality of life. Using this theory Croydon community is focusing on generating
awareness among people so that they can being changes within their diet. It is one of the
best theories that can help in overcoming both the health issues faced by the residents of
the community to overcome iron deficiency and over weight issues.
