CULTURAL DIMENSION1Culture is like a tree which have many branches but have one singularideology to accumulate the people with their behaviors as well as practices. Culturedirectly relates with the social behavior as well as norms that can be found in aparticular society. Culture can be considered as the primary concept of anthropologythat covers all the phenomena’s, transmitted through behavior, and practices (seefigure 1). It can take expressive forms like music, dance, art, religion and literatureboth oral as well as written. Culture defines the usage of technology, clothing habit,architecture, philosophy and science of one particular society. From the businessperspective. Culture is the social heritage of a community through which their patternof responses can be discovered, invented through their tendency to solve problems(Almond & Verba, 2015). These problems arise from the interactions among theirgroup members and with the environment around them. These responses can beconsidered to be a way for perceiving, feeling, thinking and then acting. These arehowever passed on to the next generation through immersion. Culture of a societydetermines whether something is acceptable or unacceptable, correct or wrong,important or unimportant. CULTURAL DIMENSION2The cultural studies concentrate on the political dynamics of the contemporaryculture where the historical foundations along with conflicts, traits and contingencies.Different ideologies, national information, class structure, ethnicity, gender andgeneration are the various factors that determine the role of the culture in the realworld. There are various theories that focus upon the cultural aspects, demonstratedby different countries (Lane & Maznevski, 2014). The cultural theories such asMarxism, feminism, cultural race theory, colonialism, cultural dimension theory, poststructuralism focus on the ethnography of the people around the world. These revealthe attitude, behaviors, preferences and responses of the group members amongthem as well as their interactions with the environment. All of these cultural theoriesemphasis upon the impact of the culture on the behaviors and responses of peopleassociated with international organizations. Though these theories, one can definethe causes of various cultural issues such as racism, inequality, discrimination in theglobal organizations.As the article, ‘Manufacturing in China Can Give Your Business theCompetitive Advantage’ by Michael Evans and Jack Toolan has discussed, theglobal manufacturers are recording a growing preference to the Chinese culture forincreasing their business (Forbes.com, 2018). According to the colonialist theory theRepublic of China was considered to be the market previously. Before 20 years, thewhen it opened its market with 1.3 billion consumers, the global manufacturersthough it to be a great opportunity to explore and gain profit. However, China’soutsourcing market recently have grown 30 percent each year. This is the reasonwhy many of the countries have been relocating their headquarters in china. Theinnovativeness and production capacity of the employees of the country has enabledthem to create a scope for higher volume of product. For this, the manufacturers donot need to invest high amount of cost. The organizational culture of the countryneeds a little research as well as sourcing hence the companies can buildpartnership with the chines organizations in order to manufacture the latest productinvention (Helmreich & Merritt, 2017). However, the organizational culture does notallow any kind of shortcut to success as the country makes possible anything but noteasily.According to the cultural dimension theory proposed by Hofstede, the peopleof China are very hardworking and do not prefer to indulge in leisure at the time of
