CULTURAL WEEK EVENT CONCEPT 2
ABSTRACT
Yearly cultural week event at universities and colleges has been a growing trend
worldwide since time immemorial. Students from different backgrounds, religions, regions, and
race get an opportunity to interact, bond and take time off their books while participating in a set
of programs. These events attract sponsorship from the corporate sector in exchange for
marketing platforms for the organizations involved. This thesis seeks to explore the different
stages of event development and implementation process.
Event concept development forms the initial stage of the event planning and management
process. It starts with an event proposal detailing different aspects of the event such as budgetary
allocations, venue, date and time, and the conceptual overview. An event manager in close
consultation with key stakeholders of an event is tasked with the responsibility of pooling human
and financial resources together to ensure a smooth flow of events during the event, identify the
objectives of the event and identify the appropriate event format and theme.
The review and evaluation of the event concept and implementation provide an insight
into what was done better and possible ways to improve the weaknesses while tapping on the
unharnessed opportunities.
