2CULTURE
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to understand this aspect of culture and the elements
which are attached to it. In addition to this, the change in my personality as a result of
the culture of my society, has been stated in the paper. Culture imparts individuality to
the people of the community (Cotterrell, 2017).
Discussion
My culture has played a preponderant role on the development of my personality.
Since childhood I have been taught the various dictates and tenants of my culture and
it has provided me with a way of life. However, one aspect of my culture which
greatly affected me was the restriction of food. I could not consume beef since it was
not accepted by my religious faith.
I decided to disassociate myself from this element of culture when I went abroad
fro my higher studies. There was no logical basis to this restriction and hence, I
decided to rationalize my thought process and under take the decisions based on
rationality and critical thinking (Hodkinson, 2016). This helped me to grow as an
individual.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it can be observed that the culture of an individual guides the
development of their personality. However, there are instances when one element of
such culture may have an adverse impact on the society.
