Political journalism is a part of journalism that consists of all parts of political
science and politics around the globe. The aim is to provide citizens information of the
current scenario of their political state. There are new methods of spreading news to people
like newspapers, blogs, magazines and many more. This paper will critically analyse political
news in different forms.

This cartoon depicts the news of honourable President of the United States of
America; Donald Trump addressing his government is going to get rid of Affordable Care
Act.
On March 23, 2010, the then honourable President Barack Obama introduced the
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), shortened to Affordable Care Act

(ACA) later nicknamed Obamacare. This was introduced to lower the expenses of the
medical aid in the country. The aim was to reform the healthcare sector and cater to the poor
and the middle class. Donald Trump after becoming the President wanted to abolish this act
supporting a lawsuit that states that the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is
unconstitutional (CNBC, 2019). Donald Trump proposed to introduce new healthcare plans
by replacing the Obamacare. The White House has no concrete justifications to this act. The
people disapproved of the decision and the alternatives put forth by the Republicans, as it
would leave millions of people uninsured and increase costs.
This issue has become significant and has affected lives of people residing in the
United States. However, this cartoon depicts Donald Trump’s insensitivity towards people
and insecurity because of the popularity garnered by the Obamacare. There is no biasness by
the cartoonist as he has provided the current piece of information. Though the way he has
portrayed Trump seems he does not approve of his alternative either just like the rest of
America.
Newspaper Story
Trump’s Order to Open Arctic Waters to Oil Drilling Was Unlawful, Federal Judge
Finds (Nytimes.com, 2019).
This news by the New York Times came after the Federal Judge disapproves of the
plan offered by the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump. Donald Trump
previously had offered a plan for offshore oil drilling in the Arctic waters. This was his
energy agenda where he wanted to bring back coal, expand extraction of minerals on the
public lands and revive nuclear energy. However, the Federal Judge disapproved his plan
stating that drilling of oil in the coast of Arctic waters is going to affect the Polar Bears and
the bowhead whales that are endangered species. The decision is going to block drilling
around many coral canyons that are home to several eccentric deep-water corals and unique

fish species. Environment groups have sued the administration and have welcomed the
decision by the Court. This has given opportunities to opponents of Donald Trump for legal
ammunition. This has added to another loss of the current government as Trump’s
administration has lost around forty cases related to environment in the Federal Court.

article she has mentioned policies by the previous President Barack Obama and his ban on
Oil Drilling during his tenure paving way for a debate and comparison of the policies of the
then President Barack Obama and current President Donald Trump.
Magazine Article
Morocco reacts warmly to Pope Francis interfaith visit (Theweek.com, 2019).
This news article was about the current Pope Francis trying to strengthen relationships
between the Christians and the Muslims. In this article, the news was that Pope Francis had
visited Morocco and was received by the King of Morocco. The Pope had went for another
trip to United Arab Emirates and had signed a joint statement that established the relationship
between the Muslims and Catholics as brothers. A Vatican news stated that Moroccan press
has responded to Pope’s visit warmly. A Francophone daily has observed the trip as solacing
the Muslims of Morocco after the Christchurch shootings, New Zealand where a racist man
attacked mosques killing about fifty people. In 2016, Islamists conspired to strike an attack
on the Vatican City. This made the relations between the Muslims and the Catholics weak.
Recently the visit of the Pope to Morocco has been making headlines. This is having a
positive effect in improving the relationship ties between the Muslims and the Catholics.

In this article the author, does not only present a current event but also mentions the
observations of other newspaper on this event. The author wants to present views of the
countries on this event to establish the motive of the Pope for making this trip.

Justin Trudeau’s pre-Election Budget in Canada (Bloomberg.com, 2019).
Press releases provide the official statement, giving proper information about a topic
to a newspaper.
The honorable Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau and his government had
presented the 2019-2020 budget in Ottawa.
This press release provides the budget made by the government. They give the
highlights of the budget. The government of Canada had introduced a budget of C$22.8
billion in the new policy operations through 2023. The government is going to spend mostly
in funding for the upcoming fiscal year and huge amount of C$3.2 billion for energy
efficiency schemes and municipal infrastructure. Canada has decided to increase the bond
issuance in the coming budget, 2019-2020 to C$119 billion due to many more maturities. The
projection of the ratio is at 30.7% for the fiscal year, 2019-2020 paving way for the
government to reduce the debt and convert to GDP in the coming years. The budget is
expected to incorporate money in order to ensure that proper training is provided to workers
for developing their skills in order to adjust in the changing workforce.
This budget is provided by the government to newspapers to spread the information to
the population of Canada. Here the piece of information is detrimental as this has effects on
the entire population of Canada.

Wilson- Raybould releases transcripts, audio recording to committee (Ipolitics.ca,
2019).
This news talks about Jody Wilson-Raybould, Canadian politician and a Liberal
Member of the parliament for the British Columbia. She was the Minister of Justice and the
Attorney General. Recently she released transcripts and audio recording to the committee to
prove her point and exposing the SNC-Lavallin fraud. Wilson-Raybould was shuffled in
January from the Justice department to the department of veteran’s affair that was seen as a
demotion. According to reports Wilson-Raybould was pressurized by the Prime Minister of
Canada, Justin Trudeau to make a deal with SNC-Lavallin, an engineering and construction
company who is currently facing charges on corruption. Wilson-Raybould has said the prime
minister and his staff have spent many months trying to convince that making a deal with the
company will provide jobs to people in Canada and this would result in garnering votes for
their party. According to her, this was an inappropriate political pressure and her ethics and
conscious does not allow her to do this. Not agreeing to these terms made Wilson-Raybould
susceptible to veiled threats.
This piece of information is a follow up of a case that has been announced in public.
The author and employees of this blog have been investigating the evidence provided by her
to give the people the current and true information. This news has reflected the different side
of the Prime Minister and made people question the intention of the government.
Political news is for the world to know about the actions of the government that helps
people assess and decide on their own what is right and what is wrong. However, many forms
of media have been influenced by certain powers thus spreading incorrect news or news that
is in their favor.
