The application of the Internet of Things is one of the most current trends in Information
technology which is an interconnection of numerous connecting devices which is used in our
daily lives (Sun et al. 2018).
Risks and Benefits associated with Internet of Things
The advantages of using this current trends are as follows:
o Effective communication between two devices.
o Information and security.
o Monitoring of activities.
o Efficient time management.
The disadvantages of using this current trends are as follows:
o Cyber security issues.
o Addiction and over dependency on the automated devices.
o Connectivity issues.
o Spam and hacking issues.
o Reduction in employment.

Impact of the current trend over the next decade
There will be both positive and negative impact of the IoT enabled devices, the positive
impact will be the accuracy rate of the IoT enabled systems and the negative impact will be the
reduction in job opportunities as the automated system will be much more efficient in the tasks
(Botta et al. 2016). The security of the router used in the IoT devices will be much more
improved if this current trend of the information technology is continued. Self-mode cars and
aircrafts will be replacing the manual machines will also be beneficial for society.
Research based argument
According to Mayer, Borges and Simske (2018), the vast capabilities of the IoT enabled
devices are very much beneficial in our daily life however, there are lots of challenges associated
with this trend. As discussed by Mohanty, Choppali and Kougianos (2016), the issues and
challenges associated with this trend such as reduction in job employment can be solved
purposefully with the help of the effective IT governance plan. Thus it can be stated the current
use of the IoT should be entirely based on effective planning.
Conclusion
From the above paper, it can be concluded that in spite of having numerous advantages
this trend has few drawbacks as well which are needed to be considered before using this trend in
the future.
