Current Trends in MIS
There are several kinds of new technologies that are coming up in the Management
Information System. This is promoting few types of trends, they are:
 Big data Analytics: It is seen that the quantity of data with which the modern day
companies are dealing with is big and it is due to this, they are using big data analytics
to analyze the information. This trend allows companies to make strategies in an
appropriate manner and also allows the functioning to be smooth (Lee, Lapira,
Bagheri & Kao, 2013). In order to do optimal utilization of the resources forecasting
is necessary and hence this trend in MIS is enabling the organizations to understand
the markets and arrange resources in such a manner that long term.
 IoT: It is another trend in MIS that is being used by the organization. It is an
interconnected technology that allows a firm to access and gather data from different
parts of the world. In the e-commerce market this is highly used for customer
interaction, responses, payments and confirmations (Laudon & Laudon, 2015).
 Automation technology: It is seen that automation technology is being used in the
organization as a part of the MIS in order to reduce the human interaction with data
and generation of the results on the self-basis. It is seen that automation technology
enables the organization in gathering and manipulation of data (Robson, 2015). In e-
commerce industry it is used for marketing especially the internet based marketing
where the machines get to know about the demands of the people on the basis of their
previous data and on the basis of it they shows the people the same products on other
platforms so that they can be attracted.
