Curriculum Design
INTRODUCTION
The curriculum is related with different subjects and there are sub parts in each subject
(Ritter et al., 2018). In accordance with the given context, it is identified that marketing jobs are
growing in the occupational area and thus on the basis of given occupational area only
curriculum is prepared for the high school students. In this regard, the given study description
will be given regarding the theories which are needed with the aim to raise the motivation of
students in the online learning environment.
ANALYSIS
Design the curriculum for high school students
With an aim to address the competencies which are required for growing occupational
area such as marketing, the curriculum for the high school students is designed. This consists of a
number of steps which are mentioned below:
Determine the target audience: The designing process of curriculum starts with
the definition of the firm's target audience. In accordance with the given context,
it is identified that the students who are studying in high school are considered as
the target audience (Kelly & Mullan, 2018).
Develop goal: The goal with regard to the curriculum would enhance the
marketing skills of high school students within 1-year tenure. It is very important
for the management to make some target in relation to the plan. This is because;
in this way, only the firm can set its direction.

Competencies needed to get the job in the field of marketing: With an aim to get a
job in the marketing occupational area, students will have to work on different
type of competencies such as communication, analytical, data analysis and
strategic skill (Bagoly-Simó, Hemmer & Reinke, 2018).
Subjects to be taught: Here, with an aim to a different type of skills of students,
there are a number of subjects to be taught by teachers in relation to the selected
occupational area. This consists of business communication, marketing basic and
statistics etc. Thus, with the help of these subjects, only the marketing
competencies of an individual can be enhanced in an effective manner (Aydın,
Unver, Alan & Sağlam, 2017).
Applying theories to the motivation of students in an online learning environment
There are different types of theories identified that help in enhancing the motivation of
learners or students in the online learning environment. The detailed explanation in relation to
the same is depicted in below:
Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning: The first theory which is taken into
consideration is of CTML theory. The given theory is basically based on the three
different types of assumptions. The aim is to process the information as there are two
different channels needed, the capacity of the channel is limited and learning is being
regarded as one of the most active processes for integrating information. In accordance
with the given context, the respective theory states that visual and audio presentation is
essential with an aim to impart maximum things in the mind of the student. This is
because it has been seen that the learning of students will be improved if they are taught
by using both audio and visual information in relation to the specific subject (Cincera,

Biberhofer, Binka, Boman, Mindt & Rieckmann, 2018). The respective theory plays an
important role in the process of enhancing the motivation of the students in the online
learning environment. This is because; in the online learning environment students will
do not interact directly with the teacher.
Further, in the online learning environment, it is important that school should teach its
students by giving some example in the video. It is due to the presence of a given aspect
only multimedia tools play a very important role with an aim to enhance the learning of
students in relation to the specific occupational area (West, Loftin & Snyder, 2017).
In addition to this, with the help of PPT school can give a brief description in relation to all the
subjects which are related to marketing. This is because it has been seen that students generally
do not like to read the long and lengthy lessons. Thus, with an aim to enhance the learning of a
given type of students PPT software is very significant. From the given thing, it is correct to say
that the school should use multimedia applications with an aim to provide assistance to students.
Cooperative learning: It is being regarded as another most important approach
with an aim to enhance the learning of students. In the respective form of learning,
students will learn in a group. Thus, the given type of activity will give social learning
type of experience to the students in an effective manner. The given theory also assists in
raising the motivation of students towards learning. This is due to the fact that with the
help of cooperative learning students will get inspiration from the other student's
knowledge and skill (Novakovich, Miah & Shaw, 2017). For instance, if some students
have a good knowledge of marketing tools and techniques and other students will also try
to improve the same. In addition to this, cooperative learning makes the process of

learning interesting and meaningful for the students. This is because of the given type of
learning each student will share their knowledge and understanding in relation to the
marketing. Further, in case if any of the students who will have any kind of doubt in
relation to the subject then it can be easy to resolve it in an effective manner. As a result
of this student will be motivated in learning different new aspect which is related to the
subject such as marketing.
Self-regulated learning: It is the systematic process in which student plan its own
learning. Here, the student does not take assistance from any other individual. Here, all
the works relate to making the selection of subject and reading it thoroughly by the
student itself (Hằng, Meijer, Bulte & Pilot, 2017). The given type of theory works well
for those students who are motivated and won't get distracted from the study very easily.
Thus, the given form of learning applies to such type of student only. However, here with
an aim to take the degree such type of students will have to do double hard work. This is
because; their whole performance in academics totally depends on their efforts only
(Wald & Harland, 2017).
Suggestion for learning strategies or design consideration
On the basis of the conducted analysis, it is suggested that high school should use an
audio-video type of learning tactic. In accordance with the given context, it should not only give
lectures to its students but it should also make effort in terms of making each session of class
highly effective for the children. This can be done if teachers will use the tools like PPT and
video etc with an aim to explain their chapters.

On the other hand, it is also recommended that the school should design the curriculum
as per the selected target audience knowledge and skill. Here, efforts should be made according
to the subjects which are taught in school should be understood by each and every student in the
class (Hassoulas, Forty, Hoskins, Walters & Riley, 2017). If this will not happen then, the
curriculum will not be considered as effective.
CONCLUSION
It can be stated from the conducted analysis that it is important for the schools to focus on
making the preparing the curriculum for its students so that it can be easy for them to give their
best towards the studies. If focus is not given on preparing the curriculum then impact can be
seen on the student’s final result. The curriculum should be designed in such a manner that it
motivates the students to learn or acquire new skills and knowledge. There should be proper time
management in relation to the studies and other activities. It is important for the teachers to
emphasize on considering the effective tools so that interest of the students can be created
towards studies. By taking into consideration effective tools for teaching can help the students to
acquire knowledge easily. It has also been examined that if student is interested towards studies
then only it can be easy for them to attain good results. Without interest it is difficult for the
students to give their best towards the studies. The tools like PPT and the concept of video
should be considered so that it can be easy for the students to acquire the knowledge.
Also the concept of cooperative learning should be considered so that students can be
motivated towards their students. By interacting with each other students can easily clarify their
doubts which can help them to attain positive outcomes. So, it is the responsibility of the teachers
to motivate the students towards studies.
