INTRODUCTION
Curriculum design and material development is a practice associated the fact that
designing different topic areas associated with the respective topic of study (Jabbarova, 2020).
This project will discuss the material design and development practices. Henceforth, report will
emphasis over the profile of learner that would allow the learning abilities. Learning plan will
also develop as a part of this project. Material development would also be a part of attention
under this project. The aim of the project is to provide a evaluation over the lecture designing
and development related approaches and practices.

The learner of this module is the 11th class of students. The students belong to the
Srilanka school from southern province. The total student is 30 in the class. The group will get a
complete information about the different recycling practices and techniques that could have been

used. The learner group belong to the middle class or the lower class economic background. The
family background of the learners are not involve educated guardians that also create major
challenges for the learners to adopt and learn new techniques and practices. The learner will get a
complete awareness about the concept and the topic. The learner group also understand the
regional language in the best way possible. The quality of living is also not very high class that
also create extra hustle for the learners to grab the complete knowledge and understanding of
different topics (Winstone, Balloo and Carless, 2020). The background of the learner is like that
they require putting extra efforts in generating resources like many of them also do some type of
job to collect and generate finances to mitigate the education related expenses. The learner of this
course is belong to all economic background and aspect. The learner group will involve all types
of economic class and category of peoples.
1 (C) Principle of material selection
The material is selected as per the different aspects. The topic is firstly evaluated and its
significance before proceeding any further in the material selection process. The entire material
over recycling is selected by searching different articles over the subject area. In academic
curriculum the quality of material that is guided to the student is very essential. Every time any
material or the article is referred to gain the complete knowledge over the subject area the quality
of the content used in the material is very important. At a priority level language that is used in
the content is also assessed whether the language is relevant and informative enough to provide
the clear understanding and knowledge over the topic of study. Certain principles associated with
the Crawford, 2002 analysis of material selection process such as Language is functional and
must be contextualised, Language development require learner engagement in purposeful use of
language, involvement of audio-visual equipment and such like principles has also included at
the time of selecting the appropriate material. Language used in the content has been a major part
of te material selection process as it is also supported by the different principles of Crawford,
2002 related to language such as teaching material must foster learner autonomy, material must
be flexible enough to cater the individual need and also the learning needed to encourage both
affectively and cognitively.
When it comes to selecting the material the individual background of the students is also
understood or taken into consideration. The students are belong to Srilanka where English is a
secondary language to be used. The learner group belong to government school that do not offer

proper command of the student over the language. The background of the learner is very
significant as it is essential for the learner to understand the language for taking out the
maximum possible learning outcomes. The personal background of the students do not motivate
them to have a better command over the language. Before proceeding further to finalise the
material personal background and understanding of the learner group has also taken into
consideration. Subject matter is another classified aspect that also needed to included when it
comes to selecting the material. Competency of the language used in the material is also a part of
material selection process. When it comes to selecting the material all these various aspects and
factors become a part of the focus area so that learner group get to entertain knowledge and
understanding with support of best level of quality content according to the needs and
requirements of the learner group.
