Introduction
A business plan is essential if one is to succeed in any business; but equally important is the
need to have an operational plan for implementing the business plan. An Operational Plan entails
the process of planning strategic objectives and goals to tactical objectives and goals. The
operational plan defines the success conditions, the milestones to be achieved, and in some cases
the activities and their associated budgets (Lee, 2011). This operational plan is about a business plan
for a planned custom-made confectionery business. This plan lists the necessary resources, key

To set up the business, especially the shop and its components, consultations will be made
by a hotel/ restaurant and hospitality business consultant, given that I will be the owner with many
years experience in confectionery. The consultant is needed to help advise on the kind of equipment
to buy in order to ensure standards, and issues such as managing stock, obtaining the necessary
health and statutory certificates, and information on the general industry. The consultation will be
done at a professional level where the business plan and idea will be shared with the consultant and
their input sought, for a fee, on the best approach: the input will be in the form of a professional
consultancy report, along with verbal meetings. The consultant will also help in who the human
resources should be: in addition, a local hiring and staffing firm will be consulted on the best staff
suitable for the envisaged business. The hiring staff firm will have knowledge on the kind of skills
needed as well as a database of suitable candidates, and can also help with interviewing
