INTRODUCTION
Business has processed its functions and operation with support of different activities that is
performed by various departments and through this ability to achieve standardized outcome is
perceived with perfection (Schermerhorn Jr, and Bachrach, 2020). The report below is based on
ASDA stores ltd. (Associated Dairies) is a chain of supermarket. It’s a British company having
headquarters in Leeds, England. The Asquith family merged their retail business with Associated
Dairies Company in Yorkshire forming ASDA in 1949. The report below comprise of role of
HR, role of marketing, finance functions, organizational culture, management leadership styles
along with balance sheet and cash flow statement.
MAIN BODY
The role of HR within the body shop
Human resource is a department that is responsible for all the management of employees
such as hiring, onboarding, training, recruitment, firing and administering of benefits towards
both employee and company. HRM works to enhance the efficiency of organization's work
force. HR consists of activities and the role is as follows:
Recruitment and Selection
ASDA keep it simple and possible way but as it’s a big company and makes sure that the
job application is seen by right person. ASDA post specific advertisement on their website, give
score to submitted application (Banfield, Kay and Royles, 2018). Then online assessment test to
scrutinize and lastly an interview is held. Objective is to select most appropriate candidate to fill
each post. ASDA search for candidates with experience, fresh ideas and perspective.
Training and Development
ASDA has “Best Welcome” induction to speed up with business. It has a Store
appreciation day where candidates celebrate after induction and understand working. It provides
opportunity to grow career, it has new training programme divided in two parts: service day and
second day is for selling skills. Through these training program company gain sustainability,
keep the company with industry trends and technologically advanced. ASDA follow steps to
train and develop their human power. They hire best and train for skills and practical experience.
They use innovative and effective way to train staffs. The training programs are made in manner
to acquire senior role in five days.

The role of marketing within the body shop
The marketing planning the major function of spreading more information within the
competitive marketing that is processed as by making adequate usage of social media platform.
The main aim of ASDA is to provide consumers with lower prices and respect them (Deepak and
Jeyakumar, 2019). They work to achieve this goal by work of staff they call colleagues. They
fulfill customers expectation and make their visit joy full and pleasant.
Situation Analysis
An organization works in competitive market, they have two main types of environment,
internal and external environment. ASDA marketing management understand these types of
environment and work on it. The internal environment of a company is that of inside. Processes
and procedures of working in company are consider internal environment. ASDA internal
environment have employees, products, communication. The employees are most important part
as they participate in processes and procedure of company. The role of HR is extremely
important, ASDA have 150000 of which 60000 are full time workers. The company manages
part time and full time workers to reduce the expenses of employees. The marketing employees
also includes customer relation staff, work in general market and do survey for marketing data.
Products of ASDA are of wide range. As the company associates with Wall-Mart they started to
grow, selling groceries, cloth, electronics and many other retailing products (Bailey and et. al.,
2018). The company started online business through company’s website. Next is communication,
the company communicates with external world using their own services. The modern
technology is used for this. By establishing social networking which helps in experience and
information of others.
Talking about the other factor that is external environment, it comprises of markets, competitive
and economic environment and other factors like social cultural political and legal environment.
ASDA has 16% of UK’s retail market. From this 16% nearly 50.3% visits everyday and 14.6%
visits two three times a day. In cities ASDA is losing customers as it takes time to go to ASDA
store and buy goods. They prefer store next door for products of casual use.
The finance functions within the body shop
The financial basis of an origination processed with major purpose under which adequate
information is flowed within the business as per its necessity in which business planning and its
decision making is developed and processed with effectiveness. In this suitable response about
