INTRODUCTION
Portfolio is defined as the collection of a academic work and other form of
educational evidence assembled for the purpose of evaluating the quality of coursework
and academic achievement (Basturkmen, 2014). It is necessary because it tells the
accurate information about the student profit that what they have done and what are
those area where still improvement is to be done. In this portfolio report, it will reflect
about different skills which are required in University. Whenever we are required to
judge any of the individual it is very important for them they must try to take the help of
Portfolio because its helps to show us whether the work which is being done by us is
effective or not and if it is not effective then what can be done to improve it in the future.
Here, if we find that required criteria is not fulfil then there is the option under which we
can take the help of superior person who is expertise in their field through which we can
enhance our performance and result in future. There are number of skills which need to
be observed in Portfolio and they are Communication skills, presentation skills, reading
skills, critical thinking skills and many more. It is the choice of individual that what are
those skills which they want to include during the preparation of portfolio. In this
assignment all together twelve different skills are to be taken so that overall
performance can be checked and even that will help what are those area from help had
been taken in order to enhance the performance. The name of different skills which is
included in skills reflections are Presentation Skills, Communication Skills, Plagiarism,
Research Skills, Use of capital Letters, Reading skills, Listening Skill, Group and Team
Skills, Reflective Learning, Sentence Construction, Types of Graph. All this skills will be
discussed in detail so that doubt regarding each and every sector can be cleared. This
all will play the important role for enhancing my result in future. In second part of the
file, their will the discussion about how skills can be helpful in academic life. There is will
be discussion inside how skills can be helpful in academic life because that will tell
where students need to focus so that better grands can be obtained because that can
help in future too. In addition, Communication Skills is said that communication skill is
one of those skill which is helpful in each step of the life. Research Skills is one of those
skill which is very essential for any of the business organisation. Reading skills is the

skill which have the essential role in daily life because it tells that how good any person
is in the field of reading, writing and interpreting.
SKILL REFLECTION
While studying in the University, I need to use various kind of skills as they are
very helpful on regular basis. Out of numbers of skills I had some of them and it was
necessary for me to learn the remaining one. The skills which I have learned while I was
in the University are listed below:
Presentation Skills
It is one of those skill which is required by each and every person in there life
because it helps to attract the more number of people in a systematic manner.
Presentation skills helps to increase the interest of any individual because it involves
various activities such as way of speaking, activeness of the body, eye contact. In my
initial days in University I realised that I am not capable to attract the mass because in
that time I don't have the skill where I can do eye contact with anyone and even I use to
have the fear of mass but things starts to change when I attained my lectured where my
lecturer told that what are the skills which are required at the time of presentation such
as way of speaking, way to present the things. This skilled will be more helpful for me if I
will involve my self more in presentation work.

Communication Skills
It is said that communication skill is one of those skill which is helpful in each
step of the life (Flores, Kleyn and Menken, 2015). It is mainly helpful at the time of
delivering or receiving in the information. During the seminars of University, I
understood that communication skills can be of three types such as written, oral and
visual. If I can try to enhance my communication skills within the premisses of university
then I will help me to score better grades in the academic session.
Plagiarism
It is the situation where any of the person try to present the idea of other people
by creating the concept that presented things are done by themselves. While I was in
University, I learned that plagiarism is counted as a criminal activity. I learned while
anyone have the fair that if they will try to copy the idea and concept of other people
then they will be penalised. So, by looking at this it will confirm that I have to present
any of the work with my own idea and concept for obtaining the better grades.
Research Skills
It is one of those skill which is very essential for any of the business organisation.
I have tried my best to learn many of the new skills for the betterment of my future but it
is necessary for me to find that what are the types of research. During the tenure in
university I learned the difference between applied research and basic research. My
teachers helped me while doing any of the research it is important to collect the
literature review because that will help to know main importance of research.
Use of capital Letters
It was important for me to understand during my school life that where it is
necessary to use the capital work. Before entering into the university I had one of the

major problem that I was able to judge the situation that where it is important to use
capital words. During the seminar of University I understood that this are those silly
mistakes where I need to focus on my work. Lecturer told that if we are able to work
with more concentration then this problem can be solve easily.
Reading skills
This the skill which have the essential role in daily life because it tells that how
good any person is in the field of reading, writing and interpreting (Valentino and
Reardon, 2015). I am one of those student who was not conclude the things in the first
stage after reading and the main reason lack of consternation. But after entering into the
university I found that if I want to improve the reading skill then it is important for me to
start to invest my self in reading new books which are complex in nature because can
easily enhance my overall skill. Further, if can be able to read the content and
understand it on given period of time then it will help to explore myself in more specific
manner.

Listening Skill
There are very few number of people who can concentrate their mind at the time
of listening to the people. I am among one of that person who is good in listening to
other people still there were lots of area where improvement was required. During my
tenure in University, my teachers are the one who enhanced my skills in listening were
they tough me that if is very important for me to be attentive as it is the initial step in any
of the listening work. This skills is very helpful for my future because it will help to
understand the situation that with how how I should react and what are those situation
where after listening to the points I should I ask the question for better result.
Group and Team Skills
It is said that an individual can bring the best outcome if they are able to perform
there work with the help of team work. While studying in the University, I learned that if I
can be able to increase my ability to work with in the help of coordination then outcomes
will be different in future. Even I learned that how I can improve my skill where I can
perform my task with the help of team. Also, Belbin's theory is one of those theory which
tough me the roles and responsibility that any of the individual have while working within
the team. It helped to achieve my targets in short period of time where chances of
errors are very rare. This is one of those ability which can guide me that how I need to
develop myself while working with any of the organisation.
Reflective Learning
It is the first assignment which was given by my teachers when I was in
University. In reflection it is necessary that I need to judge that what are the things
which have I understood after studying any of the topic. While attaining the lecture, I
understood that Gibbs Reflective Cycle is among of those model which helps individual
to execute the plans that what they are required to think and write. In university, when I
was required to write the reflective report I always take the help of Gibbs reflective cycle
which helped to prepare my report in more effective manner. In future, it will be one of
those skills which can assist me to produce more effective result.

Sentence Construction
In content writing it is very important that how sentence is required to be
constructed because se3ntence plays very crucial role in this. It is that section where
everyone need to work from the initial stage of learning. During the seminars of
university, I am required to focus more on worksheet which is very helpful for me to
reduce the percentage of errors. The formate of sentence construction should be
always short were every sentence should be clear which can be one of the effective
manner through which improvement can be done. Due to this types of instruction by my
teachers it is found that I have enhanced my overall skills my developing the sentences
which will help to being more positive result for me.
Types of Graph
It is the situation where it data are presented in the form of images just to
understand the relevant information (Baker and et. al., 2015). The lecture which I attain
in the college helps me to enhance my knowledge that how I can prepare graphs with
the help of data which are collected by me. It is necessary for me to present the graphs
which are attractive through which interest of reader can be developed. This techniques
will help me to prepare my projects report in more effective manner through which I can
easily improve my academic report. In future, if I will be able to apply this graphs in
presentation then I can easily achieve lots of success.

HOW SKILLS HELP IN ACADEMIC LIFE
Form the above learning skills, I have understood that it is very necessary for me
have different kind of skills. For this, it was important for me to under go with various
kinds skills which has helped me to gain additional experience during my academic
session. Some of the skills like communication, presentation and reading skills are very
helpful for me to perform well in academic session. This skills are inter-related with each
other but it guide me that how I can face the audience and while presenting any of the
innovative idea in front of them. While talking about communication skills it will help me
to discuss with any my seniors and teachers that how can face any of the situation
which come across me. According to my own experience, it can be said that
communication and presentation skills are effective for me change my overall
performance because now I am among those person who is capable of discussing the
topics where I face various kinds of problem which I was lacking before. In context of
reading skills, it has helped me individually to enhance my knowledge because with the
help of reading skill I am able to understand the topics in details through which
outcomes are achieved easily.
In addition it can be said that this is those skills which are effective for the better
acadmic results in my life but it is more important for me that how I judged the situation
and this things are only possible when I can show my interest in the field of Research
skills because this is one of those skills which helps to collect new data and information
through which my overall academic result can be changed. It can be understood that
this skills are inter-related with each other but at the end of the day this are helpful in
achieving the academic goals. As time is passing day by day and even it is helping me
to judge the situation on regular basis through which requirement in academic career
can be fulfilled. Even it it crucial for me to keep updating the skills which I have learned
because it tells helps to explore ourself in the best possible manner.
Apart from this, sentence construction is one the area which is helpful for me
through which I have started to secure more marks which is providing me additional
benefits in those paper which are to be submitted in written form. While talking about
group and team skill it has helped to achieve targets in more efficient manner because
with the help of team work it will be easy for me to work on any specific area.
