Reflective Summary

Summary
It is essential to understand that person can overcome themselves from any sort of
challenges if they have number of skills available in it. The different types of skills such as
reading, presenting are necessary because it shows about the confidence which individual
possess. Individual having this sort of skill always allows themselves to deal with any of the
situation at the time of performing any of the task. After determining the importance of above
mentioned skills, I came to know about different challenges which I have faced because of lack
of different skills.
The learning skill was equally important for me because it has helped me to understand
that which form of learning is crucial for me so that I can attain my targets. Then, there was
vocabulary related work which has simply raised the level of presenting my work so that better
marks can be secured. Talking about the notes, it needs to be said that any of the student must
have the ability to prepare notes during the class hour. Similar, this skills has brought
improvement in me as now I am able to prepare my task in more effective manner and memory
to learn something new has improved.
In Portfolio, there is also a detail discussion about some of the other topics such as self-
assessment, writing skill and comparison among websites. All of this skills were helpful for me
because in there are number of occasion where there is a requirement of this skills. In simple
words, now I am capable of doing comparison among the better content and the area where I am
good at and the place where I must bring improvement. Self-assessment has provided me the
way that how I can easily bring changes in myself so that chances of attaining the goals will
increase automatically for me. Then, there is a discussion about, group discussion and
referencing & plagiarism. Both of this factor can be crucial because it allows to raise standard. It
allows to being innovate idea while presenting any of the information, which is crucial for
attaining the targets on time.

INTRODUCTION
Skills can be defined as the ability that an individual have to perform any of the specific
task within the given time period. It is necessary for any of the individual to have different types
of skills because it is the only way through which they can attain success in their life because it
simply makes working condition more easy and favourable. In context of the file, there are
different types of skills will be discussed and how those skills has helped me to perform any of
the specific task. In addition, it will be explained that what are those area where those skills has
been applied.
MAIN BODY
Understanding Academic Reading
In current scenario, any of the individual must have the knowledge regarding reading
because it plays huge importance for performing any of the task in systematic manner. But,
reading are also of different types such as academic reading, professional reading and many
more. It is one of the most important reading as it covers vast area and even it discusses on
different topics which is very much important in current scenario (Abe and et. al, 2019). The
main purpose behind the selection of academic reading is that it has shown me the clear idea that
how any of the reading needs to be done and what are the purpose behind any of the reading. In
addition, academic reading was important for me because it simply allowed to improve the level
of understanding for me which is quite crucial for me.
Intelligence
Intelligence is important factor for any of the person because it certainly allows the
person to perform their work in more specified manner. As per Gardner's, intelligence is
something which helps to resolve any of the problem in valuable way. It is said that there are
mainly eight different types of intelligence which can certainly allow the person to enhance their
performance to perform any of the task (Bohari, Hin and Fuad, 2017). Talking about myself,
intelligence was required to be chosen by me because it certainly allowed me to improve my
overall skills. For improving my intelligence I had focused upon different books, journals and
articles. Secondly, even I had taken help of online resources which has helped me to improve my
overall intelligence level.

Presentation/Speaking Skill
It is essential to have presentation skills because it allow individual to present their idea
or views which can certainly allow to accomplish goals. It is essential to understand that any of
the person can present their idea on any of the specific topic if they have presentation skills.
Individual having presentation skills certainly gets benefit to attract any of the person which is
essential in present scenario and even they can present their thoughts and idea which can be
helpful in obtaining effective result (García-Peñalvo, 2016). In order to improve my presentation
skill, I have attended number of sessions and gradually it has allowed me to present my idea and
thoughts in front of other.
Learning Style
It is the style which relates with the way of leaning that any an individual adopt. There
are number of types of learning style such as audio, video, aural and many more. This particular
style is important because it guides the person that how they can adopt new things in best
possible manner. VARK learning model can play important role for person to improve their
learning style (Yadav, Rawal and Baxi, 2016). It is the skill where I focus because it can
certainly provide me the way that how I can improve my overall performance in academic and
other sector. In order to improve my overall learning skills I had worked with my seniors who
had helped me to understand that which form of learning style is effective for me.
Business Vocabulary
For any of the student, preparing projects, notes and other essential work in academic life
is important where role of vocabulary plays the important role. Business Vocabulary is
something which gives idea to learn new work and their appropriate meaning. Individual having
this respective skills can easily allow the person to present system projects, notes through which
better marks can be obtained (Giuli and Treadgold, 2017). Talking about myself, I would
definitely like to say that vocabulary area was not favourable for me due to which expectation of
seniors where not being met. In order to improve my vocabulary skills, I have taken the help of
dictionary, google who are good interpretor of any words.
Own Class notes
Preparing own class notes is not an easy task because students have to listen and write at
the same time. There is a great importance of preparing this types of notes because it provide

additional benefit to student while reading any of the specific time. The notes allows the student
to rewind the important topic which has been discussed in the class. In order to improve any of
the own class notes, student should be good at listening and writing skills. Individual having
weak listening and writing skills can create huge issues (Green and Salkind, 2016). Here, I had
started to pay more attention towards listening because it can allow me to prepare notes even
after leaving the premisses of class.
Class Notes
Any of the person should have the skills to prepare class notes because it guides the
person to learn something new one a daily basis. It is the skill which is essential because it can
allow the student to understand that what are those area where they needs to improve as an
student. Class notes even help to determine that what are those topics where major focus needs to
be given so that individual will not have to face any sort of issue. I personally like to work in
class notes because it can guide me that how I needs to prepare for my future education and
many more.
Self Assessment Plan
Self Assessment plan is the plan which allows the individual to find about person strength
and weaknesses so that improvements can be brought in future time period. It is the plan which
can guide about the necessary steps which must be taken for the purpose of improvement of any
specific skills (Hart, 2018). In my point of view, the main purpose of selecting self-assessment
plan was just to ensure about my strength and weaknesses so that I can allow myself to improve
my different skills. In order to prepare effective self-assessment, I had given rating out of five
which helped me to identify the area where improvement is required.
Writing Skills
In any of the student life, writing has the huge importance because it certainly guides that
how any of work needs to be presented. Some of the main things which needs to be understand
in any of the writing work is that when any of the paragraph needs to be break down. The
requirement of fullstop, comma,exclamation market, bracket and many more (McDowell, 2019).
All of this things needs to be focused so that writing skills of any of the person can be improved.
Talking about myself, writing skill is important and for that I have attained different seminars

and major focus has been given towards English grammar. Improvement in writing skills can
certainly allow me to attain suitable market which is necessary in academic life.
Comparison of two Websites
Nowadays, websites has its own importance because it provides certain information
which are essential and helpful in preparing useful data. Selection of suitable website is
necessary because there are number of similar website can be seen but content available in it has
a major importance (McGuire and OBroin, 2019). Comparison among website is also important
because it helps to save time and money both. In order to improve my skill of comparison of two
different websites, I started to read the content and information which present in it and the key
inputs which it accepts at the time of searching. This skills is helpful for me because I can allow
myself to collect useful information in shorter time period.
Referencing & Plagiarism
Referencing and plagiarism are the two most important topic in current scenario while
preparing any of the academic project. The main purpose of inserting references is just to make
other understand that from where source has been collected while presenting the information.
Secondly, concept of plagiarism is important because it allow the reader to identify that whether
presented information is of his/her own or whether it has been collected from others project. The
main purpose behind understanding about both referencing and plagiarism concept is just to
improve overall marks (Stephenson, 2015). Improvement in this skills has allowed me to prepare
different types of referencing style such as Oscola, APA, Harvard and many more.
Group Discussion
For any of the student, group discussion is necessary because it allow to improve the
level of knowledge and even chances of resolving any of the problem is high in it. Whenever any
of the group discussion is conducted, there is high probability that student can easily allow
themselves to improve their skills and knowledge. I prepare any of my work after having group
discussion because it certainly reduces the chances of errors in the task (Wong and et. al, 2019).
For the purpose of being improvement in group discussion, I have started to show my
involvement in different teams and my friends who carries good sort of knowledge.

CONCLUSION
From the above discussion, it can be concluded that any of the person must hold different
types of skills because that certainly plays vital role. Person having multiple skills certainly gets
extra benefits because chance of completing the work on specific time period increases
automatically.
