Part 1 1. Explain the main features of the CPD requirements and codes of practice set by the GDC for dental professionals in the UK. CPD- Continuous professional development is keeping all skills and knowledge up to date within career of dentist in UK (CPD Requirements, 2019). This is also regarded to as supporting dental profession by maintaining the skills and behaviour throughout the working life. This term is often used to describe the learning activities of professionals by engaging for development and enhancement of their abilities. There are certain requirements for CPD like: Complete 120 hours of CPD in over 3 year into which minimum of 20 hours should be completed into single financial year For all professionals it is very much essential for recording each of the CPD activities and then these records should be retained for at least 5 years. Then this record should be kept end of 3 years and made available during the time of audit. General Dental Council (GDC) standards for standard of conduct, performance and ethics which is governed by professional of UK. It is very much important to support standards for the dental team for performance, conduct and ethics as well. The documents which is setting up standards of conduct for professionals in UK for specifying principles and guidance which is applied within dental team and setting expectation of dental professionals. 1.DN16 2.1 Research what it would take to manage a dental practice. ProvideTENexamples of legal requirements,TWOexamples of financial requirements andTWOexamples of ethical requirements. Necessary experience- It is very much important that all advisors like that of accountant and lawyers are been able to give dentist necessary advise according to potential issues. Obtaining licence- It is important to obtain and take licence for starting the business of dental treatment as if it not there then it would create breach of copyright. Data- If the business is register then it is very much required to follow Data Protection Act which required into certain business register. Employees- They is regarded to as important part of any business and should be treated as assets so they should be given complete training. It is very essential to ensure qualification and training standards to be kept up to date. Trademark- It is important to note that company should be registered trademark for preventing from using the branding (Top ten legal tips for dental practices,2019). Legal professionals and into process will be straightforward and cost effective as well. Provisions- It is also legal requirement that within employment contract there should be confidentiality clause as well. Software- It is also important to note that all the software of computer should be properly licensed and not be over deployed by software license by use of software. Timing- It is required to ensure requirement of CQC and NHS England so that each of the application should be finalised by timely manner. This policy includes vulnerable people who need to be safeguarded into NHS with Accountability and Assurance Framework 2015 (Jum'ah, Burke and Brunton, 2019). There is also Local Safeguarding Children Boards (LSCB) and safeguarding adults board strategy which will include staff training and continuing
professional development. Safe working practice will include recruitment, vetting and barring procedures this will be effective interagency working and includes effective information sharing. 3.DN16 4.3 If you suspect a safeguarding concern, how would you go about raising a concern? NHS England will be drawing out appropriate engagement with the LSCB or other local authorities in way of safeguarding children and adults including like that of effective mechanisms for LSCB and SAB so that they could raise concern about the engagement and leadership issue of local NHS (Safeguarding Policy, 2019). 4.DN16 4.1 Describe the signs and symptoms of each category of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, neglect).
