I. INTRODUCTION
1. BACKGROUND
We are living in the epoch of technology, when the Internet, social media, online
working is becoming more and more popular throughout the world. Especially, in
recent years, streamers, gamers, Youtubers, are jobs which people love spending most
of their time on the Internet to play games, make videos with variety of interesting
content in order to entertain everyone watch it, are developing terribly. The number of
people choose this kind of career is rising dramatically these days.
So, what are the benefits and drawbacks of being a gamer? Do they have effects on
the community? What do students of IBD-NEU program in particular think about this
job? I am going to find the answers in this project and make it clear to IBD student
about this new kind of career. I am looking forward to informing you the pros and
cons of becoming a gamer.
2. RATIONALE
In a hectic life when the Internet and new technology is ruling the world, there are
many people spend most of their daytime watching Facebook, YouTube, … It is the
reason why this new kind of career is developing sharply day by day. Entertaining by
programs on TV channels are now less attractive to young adults than videos, games
on the Internet. Working by playing games and streaming on social media is somehow
enjoyable and have an excellent income. However, nothing is easy at all, not except
this job. But not everyone knows how hard is this job, the drawbacks of this kind of
working and behind the reputation of these gamers.

3. PURPOSE
The increasing in the number of Video Creator and the attractive of them with the
community has inspired me to accomplish this project in order to spread the idea
about this job. In this document, I am going to investigate people’s opinion about this
job and provide them some new information of it. In particular, it attempts to:
1. I started this project so as to give the real opinion of IBD students
2. I also aim to provide some information of this job for whom want to follow
Video Creator career
4. SCOPE OF THE STUDY
It is hard to introduce everything about this job because I am not doing this job now.
However, I will try my best and let IBD students know as much as I can about gamers,
streamers, YouTuber.
5. RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
1. Primary data: observation and questionares used to get data about the views and
the opinion in IBD students nowadays

II. LITERATURE REVIEW
Spending time playing games, creating video and uploading it to the social
media for everyone can enjoy it are extremely attractive and exciting activities,
therefore, the number of people choosing to become a video creator for YouTube and
Facebook gaming is rising dramatically in recent years.
1. OVERVIEW
However, this entertainment industry is not easy as apple pie. Becoming a
video creator, you have to have an exciting content in order to attract people. In the
field of YouTube, you can do whatever you want, for example, you can do Vlogs
about your life, go travelling and record your trip for viewer enjoy it, or you can
record yourself eating a delicious meal, … In that of Facebook Gaming, Nonolive,…,
you have to stream games only.
2. ADVANTAGES OF BECOMING A VIDEO CREATOR
Both of those video creator program provide a lot of interests. In Facebook
Gaming program, streamers will get the salary equal to their ability, contributions, the
wage can be up to hundreds of millions VND in Vietnam – Mr. Guy Gross, who is the
director of cooperation in this field, said. Becoming a streamer on Facebook means
workers can experience lots of exclusive features such as star donation, subscription,
advertisement contract with various brands, receive many advises from OTA Network
and Facebook Gaming, receive the Facebook verified badge, … Moreover, they can
meet others streamer all around the world, take part in activities of Facebook, … In
YouTube, Video Creator can earn money from YouTube partner program, they can
also sell products through advertisement videos and donation of audiences.

3. DISADVANTAGES OF BECOMING A VIDEO CREATOR
However, becoming a member of Facebook gaming, you have to stream
enough the amount of time in norm that they gave you. If you don’t stream enough or
don’t have enough viewers per video, you will absolutely be sacked. This is a “fierce
battle field”, because you will have to fight against others streamers to survive and
continue your career. Streamer ViruSs once said: “This job is very easy, just have to
play games and still can earn money. Because it’s very easy so everyone can do this
job, the competition between streamers is violent as a result.”. Being a streamer, your
wage will be significant high, but you can be easily fired if you don’t take care to your
quota. When you have an amount of audience stable, your salary will be stable too.
You can also organize a small academy where who want to follow this job can apply
in and you can help them to develop their fame like streamer Nam Blue did. In the
field of YouTube, you don’t have the target for each month so you don’t have to
worry that you can be fired one day. But you must have 1000 subscribers and 4000
hours watched in your channel to earn money from YouTube. Moreover, this job
requires you to spend hours in front of your computer, this has bad effects on your
health, your eyes. When you get old and others new streamers become famous, you
will be less attractive and the number of people watch you will be decreased day by
day.
4. FAMOUS STREAMERS OPINION AND EXPERIENCES
Dang Tien Hoang – known as ViruSs, said that if you do this job in order to
earn money, you will never be succeeded. This job is only for people who love
playing games and love to communicate to viewers. Just like all others kind of job,
you have to love that job, so that you can be succeed and earn money from it. This
new entertainment industry is very easy in the way people works but the competition
to survive in this field is extremely hard. This job is easy, but if you want to have
thousands of people watching you, you should be talkative and funny in order to
attract people to your videos, and this is the most important factor to succeed in this
new job – said streamer Nam Blue.

In conclusion, this job brings you many benefits such as fame, stable salary,
friends but also has many drawbacks like bad effects to your health, may be disturb by
people when you go out the street or when you are streaming, …
III. MAJOR FINDINGS
I made a survey in order to find out what do IBD students think about Video
Creator, and here is what I received.
1. 1
Through the research, I found out that almost students in IBD had heard or watch
videos from means of social media. The number of people had any idea of this job
took 86.2% the number of students taking part in this research. However, there are a
small number of participants didn’t know about this job and not sure that they had
known VC or not. These two number took 13.8% in total and took 6.9% each.
Throughout the first question of the research, I can assume that this new job has been
known widely and quite popular to students, though it has appeared not so long.

Followed the question about knowledge of people about this new entertaining job, I
asked if they like watching those videos. Surprisingly, the answers confused me a
little bit when I looked at it for the first time. The percentage in the graph answered by
IBD student was exactly the same as that in the previous question, which made me
thought it was the computer’s problem. Clearly, IBD students love spending time
watching entertaining videos on social media in free time so as to reduce their stress
after a long day. Before these days, people used to watch TV, movies, … to entertain.
Fortunately, we have social media now and we can find a variety of attracting videos
content that fit with our favor. Thanks to VC, people can enjoy the videos which they
love in leisure time.

When I asked them about the contents that they would love to watch, I received
many different replies. The answer which stood at the highest rate was music. About
82.8% people participating in this survey often use social media to listen to music,
which is understandable while music is popular and everyone can use it to reduce
stress. The second highest choice that IBD students rated was food, which 69% of
participants chose this. One problem that may upset teachers is that only 34.5%
students chose online education as their favorite contents to watch. Making up got 11
students chose, 1 man higher than the rate of learning online. Additionally, game,
fashion and vlog are 3 choices which its percentage chosen was almost the same.
Game got 17 people chose, fashion got 15 and that number of vlog was 16, they was
58.6%, 51.7%, 55.2% in percent respectively. This shows that students like spending
times on entertaining by music most and not really interested in studying online.

Next, I asked IBD students if they had ever wanted to be a Video Creator. The
answer I had told me that the number of people had had an idea of being a VC is
greater than that of whom didn’t want to do this job. The number of participants chose
yes and maybe was 37.9% and 20.7% respectively. It means that this new kind of
entertainment industry is popular and quite attractive to students in universities and
colleges. However, the opposite opinion took nearly half of 100%. Through these
answers, I knew that this job has been becoming more and more wide-known to young
adult and more than a half of them found it exciting and once wanted to follow this
new industry.

Though this question, I knew that most of the students who did join in my survey
would become a YouTuber if they follow Video Creator career. It was approximately
44.7% people chose YouTube to be the social network that they might post their
videos, it means that they wanted to be YouTubers. Besides, there was 10.2% of
participants wanted to be both YouTuber and TikToker, Streamers on Facebook and
some others website. The number of people choosing cultural and environment website
to post was only 1. And games, love, music, skincare also got 1 person chose each.

Followed the question about what IBD student wanted to do about. The graph shows
that 58.6% people wanted to choose music as their subject in videos. This is an
understandable answer while there was 82.8% IBD students preferred watching music
videos in social media. Game and Vlog shares the equilibrium in the rate of people
chose to do in their videos, which was both 48,3% participants wanted to follow these
two contents. The next choice of people was food, about 41.4% person loved this idea
when they do the videos. Recently, the videos about food are becoming more and more
well-known and the number of Video Creator do the food content is rising dramatically
day by day. People can come across hundreds of videos which people eat or cook food
in those videos in the Internet, especially on Facebook, YouTube,…. Those videos
often called Mukbang. Fashion got 34.5% of people like this kind of video. The trend
which people put on their clothes or give people advices can usually be seen on
TikTok-a social media where we can upload short videos about whatever we want.
Next, I think the makeup content might have been chosen almost by women. And the
lowest rate of choice was learning online, which got only 3 people chose this idea.
Obviously, everyone just wanted to relax after a long day working and studying, very
few people chose this as a favor is inevitable.

Then I asked them about their idea about this job. Most of them said that Video Creator could
received an extremely amount of benefits from YouTube, Facebook,…, about half of the
participants agreed with this idea. The second highest rate was high wage which was chosen by
37.9% people joining in the research. However, this advantage is not true for every Video
Creator. For example, only streamers or YouTubers who succeed and popular can have a high
salary. In the contrary, those who don’t succeed and don’t have enough views each video and
don’t have subscribers, they won’t have an expected salary as they wanted. There was 44.7% IBD
students assumed that this career is straightforward, the people who do this job just have to play
games, eat, makeup themselves and some others contents and still earn a lot of money. This is a
false opinion, because this job may not difficult in the way it works, but it is a highly competitive
job. The more this job develops, the more attractive people feel about it. So that, Video Creators
must update their information regularly so as to make the videos better and more trending, when
it happens, those videos will get more attention from viewers and the people who did it will be
more and more famous. If the Video Creators can’t do that or the way they talk in the video
doesn’t funny, they will be less successful and they will lose the job in some day. Besides, there
are 10.2% of people understood that this job is very challenging, stressful and require the worker

The 2 highest choice was becoming famous and joining in activities with others co-
workers, there were 62.1% and 58.6% respectively. Becoming famous truly is one of
the biggest benefits when being a Video Creator, but this advantage is for whom
imaginative, passionate and love this job only. Next, 48.3% people said that when
doing this work, people can have more friend and extend their relationships. About
34.5% IBD students considered that high wage is an advantage of being a Video
Creator. Moreover, there was only 1 person chose that taking this career may help them
improve their speaking skills, editing skills, knowledge,…

IV. CONCLUSION
All in all, most of people who I had asked them about Video Creator knew what it was
and understand a bit of this new entertainment industry. Through the survey, I know
that YouTube is the most popular website to teenagers enjoying watching videos in
leisure time. However, some people still think that this new kind of work is easy and
not require much from workers, I hope they will have a different view after this project
and understand more about this job. Being a Video Creator give you much benefits,
such as more friends, high salary, well-known, travelling a lot, eat many different
foods around the world. But it needs people doing it must be dedicated and love the
job, so that they can succeed. Otherwise, they can be unemployed at any time.
