This video informs individuals about the bizarre cultural practice of the Dani tribe in Indonesia where women cut off a segment of their fingers when a family member dies. The fingers are tied tight using a string just before being amputated for around thirty minutes to numb them. After amputation, the new fingertips are then burned to make a new scar tissue. This painful procedure causes more depression especially after the loss of a loved one and also brings about medical risks. The practice is mainly performed in order to satisfy the tribe’s ancestral ghosts. This practice has become rare and all people of Indonesia must shun away from this culture since it has no mutual benefit to the community and the society at large.
