Chapter1: Introduction
1.1 Background
The managers ' decision-making abilities depend on the achievement and profitability
of the business organisation. This decision-making method involves strategizing company
processes in line with multiple external variables operating in different nations. A manager
need to develop a global attitude for ensuring the effectiveness of strategic business affairs.
The Managers of International business organization managers should have the clear
understanding of the various aspects of Global mindset that can contribute to the
organisational improvement. Globalisation is the most known phenomenon in today's
business environment. Hence, when a manager wants to grow the company worldwide and
promote foreign direct investment he or she needs to have certain skills through which the
resources of an organisation including both human and financial capital could generate more
opportunities for company to introduce innovation, sustainability and understanding.
1.2 Problem Statement
The context of Global Mindset requires from a manager is also associated with can
other attributes such as cognitive skills, interpersonal skills and an affective commitment
towards the values of organisation (Newman, Kiazad, Miao and Cooper 2014). In addition,
the mentality if the manager should also be known to strengthen different aspects of
internationalised businesses. The major aspects of internationalised business environments
are foreign direct investment, international competition strategies, foreign market entry
modes and the implementation. Hence, it is required to analyse the factors affecting
development of a global mindset in managers and its effect on international business
strategies.

To identify the main factors that contribute to the development of managers’ global
mindset.
To show the relationships between global mindset of managers and foreign direct
investment as well as implementing strategies for international competition
To create the pattern of the factors that affect development of managers` global
mindset.
Chapter 2: Literature review
2.1 Cognitive Skill
Cognitive skills allows the managers to employ refers to the process of optimising the
communication induced productivity by using their evaluated data to maximize their ability
and allocating the available resources. The term Cognitive abilities which is also known as
intellectual capital refer to the capacity to comprehend. It also refers the capability to think
about techniques to solve the problems in different situations. According to Flin and Maran
(2015), the ability to learn fresh abilities and adapt to it also falls under the domain of
cognition. In order to make strategic decisions for internationalised business strategies, the
ability of utilising cognitive skill in the managers of any organisation helps to gather
knowledge about the experience of the other employees as well. It allows the managers to
manage the problems experienced in the organisational operations (Osland, Ehret and Ruiz
2017).
2.2 Affective Commitment
The role of is very significant to develop the affective commitment in any
organisation. The effective commitment of the employees as well as the managers enables to

prioritize the business values and objectives. It also helps to handle the organizational work
flow that can eventually reduce the stress of the employees effectively. Affective
commitment also enables the managers to adapt new strategic activities in order to induce the
organisational goals into the regular operational practice of business environment. It also
helps the manager to determine the direction of strategic decision making that the
organisation needs to sustain and improve. As opined by Mercurio (2015), effective
commitment also indicates the attachment of the managers and employees to the business
objectives and values in both a local or international ground. Managers must have Emotional
resilience to the international activities of any business organizations in order to ensure the
risk assessment.
2.3 Interpersonal skill
Interpersonal skills or Global Social Capital include an individual's ability to
communicate effectively. It allows executives and leaders to interact correctly with staff and
make them conscious of the goals of the projects and the organisation. Interpersonal skills in
leadership ensure the business organization's correct functioning as. As argued by Kakabadse
and Bank (2018), global company executives need to create interpersonal skills so that they
can effectively create a feeling of confidence between workers and staff and network with the
organization's benefactors and stakeholders..
2.4 Global Thinking
Global mindset is the most essential aspects in today's company environment,
particularly for a leader who wants to grow the company worldwide and promote foreign
direct investment, which is the primary source of company funding and could generate more
opportunities for company to introduce innovation, understanding and sustainability. From
the case studies of many sSuccessful Global Leaders it has been found that the leading
capacity in an multicultural environment requires specific mindset that influence the
