INTRODUCTION
Data Analysis is basically a process of inspecting, cleansing, transforming and modelling a
dataset into useful information (Perez De Souza and et.al., 2020). The report will study the social
and economic impact of constant rising in the death rates of UK during the period of Covid-19.
Further, the report will analyse the dataset using the descriptive statistic tools and line chart
visualization. The report will state the impact of rise in death rates either due to Covid-19 or
other reasons on hospitality industry. Lastly, the report will also cover the impact of increase in
death rates in pandemic situation over the society and people of UK country.
Project Aim
The aim of the current projects is to analyse the social as well as economic impact of
constant rising death rate of UK in the time of Covid-19.
Project Objectives
To understand the constant changes in the death rate of UK either due to Covid-19 or all
other death.
To assess the impact of Covid-19 on the social condition of UK.
To recognize the issues faced by hospitals of UK due to rise in the death rates during the
period of Covid-19.
To recommend suitable strategic actions to hospital industry in order to tackle with the
challenge of rising death rates.
Methodology used for current project
The aim of the current project is to analyse the social and economic impact of constant rise
in the death rates of UK during Covid-19-time period. The methodology has been used for
analysing the impact of rise in death rates either due to Covid-19 or other cases over the hospital
sector of UK and how Covid-19 has affected social condition of UK is descriptive statistic tools
and line chart visualizations. For completing the research on defined specific issues, the
quantitative dataset has been used such as number of weekly death rates register in England from
14th March 2020 to 21st January 2022. Basically, the dataset includes deaths involving Covid-19
and all other deaths (excluding Covid-19) (Beć, Grabska and Huck, 2021).

The descriptive statistical tool is one of the best method for quantitative data analysis
because the it provides the basic information about the variables in a dataset and also the line
charts is best to highlight the potential relationships between the different variables. Thus, in
order to analyse the impact of Covid-19 and constant rising in the death rates over the social and
hospitals of UK, the line charts representation and descriptive statistical tools has been used.
Collection of Data
For completing the current project in best manner possible and achieving aim & objectives
successfully, the dataset has been collected from the authentic website such as Office of National
Statistics (ONS). The data collected to analyse the social and economic impact of constant rise in
the death rates of UK during the time of Covid-19 is number of weekly death rates involving
Covid-19, all other deaths (excluding Covid-19) for England for the period of 14th March 2020 to
21st January 2022. The reason behind the collection of quantitative dataset from ONS website is
that this is one of the best, reliable and authentic website where the accurate and correct data is
available (Dey, Bhatt and Ashour, 2018).
Appropriateness of sourced data
It is important that the sourced data should be appropriate and link with the aims and
objectives of projects in order to ensure the quality and validity of dataset. Thus, for the present
project, the dataset regarding the death rates due to Covid-19 or other diseases has been collected
from UK government operated source i.e., ONS. Also, the dataset is collected from latest
publications i.e., after 2020. It means the dataset is related to period of 14th March 2020 to 21st
January 2022 from the sources published after 2020 which ensure appropriateness, reliability and
validity of sources data (Garg, 2019).
Data Analysis
For the analysis of data pertaining to the social and economic impact of Covid – 19, the
different quantitative data have been obtained which would be analysed through descriptive
statistical tools and line chart presentation. The latter would be helpful in visual presentation of
data which facilitates easier identification of patterns and impact of one factor over the other.

The several statistical tools that would be used for gaining insights regarding the economic and
social impact of Covid-19 are mean, median, mode, range and standard deviation.
The descriptive statistics for the data related to the number of death because of both Covid-19

The above statistical figures have been obtained with regards to the number of death due to
Covid-19 and other causes as well for the period beginning from 20th March 2020 till 21st January
2022 on a weekly basis (Prati and Mancini, 2021). It can be said on the basis of mean for two
different causes of the number of deaths during the period under consideration that the deaths
resulting from other causes was approximately five time the number of deaths causing due to
Covid – 19. Median indicates the middle value of the data set and the other values within the
data set are expected to be 50% on the higher side as well as 50% on the lower side accordingly,
the number of deaths due to Covid -19 and other causes would be 50% on the higher and 50% on
the lower side of 102 and 2120 respectively (Kim and Bostwick, 2020.).
Mode shows the value that has been repeated for most in the data set. The 13 as mode for
the number of deaths due to Covid -19 was obtained for the times when there were least cases of
Covid-19 were there that is the month of June in the year 2021. A high value of range indicates
that the number of deaths due to Covid-19 was fluctuating during different points of time
because the effectiveness of different variant of the pandemic was fluctuating. This all about the
impact of Covid-19 over the number of deaths within UK because of lack of availability of beds
in hospitals as well as less number of medical practitioner against the number patients getting
admitted to hospitals for immediate medical attention (Promislow, 2020).

It is also analysed that due to Covid-19, the growth rate of hospitals is unable to get proper
resources as supply has been temporarily stopped in the UK country. Further, it is also analysed
that the social impact of Covid-19 or rise in death rates in Covid-19 is such that hospitals are
unable to provide treatment to patients (Aryadoust and Raquel, 2019). The higher workload,
psychological distress, shortage of quality PPE kit, social exclusion and absence of coordination
are some of the issue faced by hospital industry due to Covid-19.

On the basis of above chart, it can be state that the death rates of UK in Covid-19
situation is high in Q1 of 2020. This means that there is high proportion of deaths involving
Covid-19 during the first wave because of lack of vaccination.
Functioning in a group and different perspective for the future
There can be seen that level of expectations for the work carried out in a group are set at
higher level as compared to work which is being performed individually and accordingly,
achievement of goal in a group with effectiveness is considered to be a crucial skill. The learning
& experience gain through group work is quite good due to which group projects are
comparatively higher in value and rewards. Therefore, different strategies and actions are
adopted and undertaken with regard to the current project, which are as follows:
In this project, for the purpose of ensuring clarity of directions and required level of
coordination among the team members, we undertook to set & agree upon the objectives
in the beginning itself. Also, timetable has been created along with informing group
members regarding the deadlines within which their assigned tasks are required to be
accomplished. For effective communication and avoidance of conflicts among group members, regular
meetings were organized which helps in clarifying regarding what is needed to be

performed next. Also, effective communication through meetings was found as a factor
helpful in resolving probable conflicts that could arise among group members.
Furthermore, consensus was built among individual group members with regard to

Future perspective with regard to group working
The present project was lacking in terms of role definition for individual group members which
is necessary for distributing the entire group work to individual group members in small task.
The assignment of task is further required to be done on the basis of individual capabilities &
strengths. Therefore, if I got similar opportunity of working in a group in the future, then I would
definitely resort to ensuring definition of roles right in the beginning. This would be done to
ensure that there would be effective utilization of limited time by reducing the probability of
similar tasks being performed more than once. Accordingly, greater efficiency could also be
possible as a result of reduced wastage of time & resources.
Appropriateness of method used for presenting and visualising data
For analysing the quantitative data, the descriptive statistics and for visualizing the same,
the line chart method has been used in the current project. The descriptive statistic tool is one of
the best method because it involves various measures of central tendency and dispersion in order
to evaluate the changes in the death rates involving Covid-19 and all other deaths. Further, the
line chart is best for visualising the trends and changes in death rates of UK over different time
periods. Thus, line chart and descriptive statistical tool is ensuring appropriate method of
presenting data (Haardörfer, 2019).
Achievement and conclusion drawn through data analysis
Working in a team is good for achieving the project aims and objective along with creating
better outcome of work. From the data analysis, it has been concluded that there is a rise in the
death rates involving Covid-19 and all other deaths (excluding Covid-19). However, it is also
concluded from the data analysis that the proportion of death rather due to Covid-19 is lower
than the proportion of death rates due to other diseases (Perez De Souza and et.al., 2020).
Further, the hospitals are unable to keep provide separate place to other patients because of the
lower occupancy rate. The shortage of resources is a challenge faced by hospitals sector of UK.

On the other side, it is also stated that majority of deaths is occurred in UK during the first
wave because of lack of resource and vaccination non-availability in hospitals.
Reflection on issues faced and actions will take to do differently in future
The lack of correlation and communication is an issue which I have faced during this group
project. The impact of which I am unable to complete my part on time. No breaks and relaxation
during the group project is so hectic for me, which has reduced my creativity and critical
thinking skills (Garg, 2019). The actions I will take in order to do the project differently in future
is develop my interaction and interpersonal skill so that I can collaborate with my team in future
at workplace. Further, in future whenever I will become a team leader I will provide short breaks
and relaxation time to my groups in order to enhance their as well as mine efficiency and critical
thinking.
CONCLUSION
After summing up the above information, it has been concluded that due to rise in the death
rates of UK in Covid-19 situation, the hospitals faces issue of lack of resources, lower occupancy
rate, lack of vaccination and PPE kits etc. The report has also concluded due to Covid-19; the
hospitals are highly pressurized and they are unable to look out all patients accordingly. Lastly,
the report has also concluded my reflection on issues and future actions.
