ICT370 Data Analytics: Analysis of NSW Crime Dataset

This report presents an investigation into the New South Wales (NSW) crime dataset, spanning from January 1995 to December 2012. The analysis focuses on crime rates based on offence type, Local Government Area, and month. The student utilized descriptive statistics, correlation, and linear regression, employing the SPSS tool for data analysis. The primary objective is to identify the root causes of various crimes to enhance community safety. The report includes detailed findings, discussions, and recommendations aimed at reducing the crime rate in NSW. The analysis reveals a high crime percentage of 36.1% and suggests recommendations like increasing employment opportunities and promoting values education to reduce crime.
