5Data Communications and Networking xiii.To link the newly opened branch with the HQ network using the WAN network. 1.2Background Advanced Medicos Limited (AML) is a digital company that is dealing with selling of the health products , this company has a headquarter office and it is made of two main building s A and B which hosts the four main departments which includes the Software Development which has a total of 70 workstations and 10 printers, Production which has a totalof 5 workstations and 2 printers, Marketing which has a total of10 workstations and 4 printers, and Administration which has a total 5 workstations and2 printers, these two buildings are 20Mapart where the block A hosts Software Development and Marketing department while block B hosts production and administration departments, however these departments are not connected through a network but they only connect to each other through the website, however the both buildings have a local network that which has only locally connected devices and does not allow the connection of extra network devices, however the headquarter has the network servers and the router for internet access. The management had decided to open a new branch which is located 100M from headquarter and they propose to install a wide area network to connect it with the head quarter departments. The management therefore wants to install a new network that will enable connection to all branches and buildings, allow the wireless internet access, allow addition of new devices into the network, and enable the workers to work from their homes, allow introduction of new network devices like computers and printers, enable network future expansion and also to enable the online selling of the health products to the customers. 1.3Scope The proposed network will cover a quite many sections of the network which includes the following: i.Connecting the block A building with the new network. ii.Connecting the block B building with the new network. iii.Installing wireless network facility for the entire company. iv.To implement an online website for selling of products.
6Data Communications and Networking v.To enable addition of new network devices through “Bring Your Own Device” features. vi.To link the new branch with wide area network of the company headquarter. vii.To enable workers to use the provided computers and laptops to work from home. viii.To implement the network security features to avoid attacks. ix.To add new devices like computers and printers to the current network. 2Analysis of User Requirements 2.1Assumptions made 1. Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel Files), 2. Internet Browser 3. Email 4. Desktop Operating systems 5. Accounting, Finance, and HR applications 6. 11Data Communications and Networking 3.3Logical network(s) topology The proposed network will mainly be implemented using the two topology which includes the star and hybrid topology where the star topology will be applicable in the local networks while the hybrid topology will be used in the entire network, however this topology only indicate the physical layout of the network devices like the routers and switches and also indicating the respective ip addresses for the network sections as shown in the figure below. (Michael, 2017). Figure1: Logical network(s) topology 3.4Network physical topology including network diagram The below is the proposed network physical topology that is indicating the layout of the various network devices, the allocated ip addresses and their respective locations.
12Data Communications and Networking (Specialist, 2018). Figure2: Network physical topology including network diagram 3.5Analysis of existing network The existing network is bale to support various services which are described in the below functionalities. 3.5.1Functionalities i.The network is enabling the workers in the block A and B to communicate using the online website. ii.The network is enabling the internet access through the edge router located in the block A. iii.The network is enabling the hosting of website that is accessed by the block A and block B members to communicate (Paige, 2014). iv.ThenetworkisenablingtheprintingservicestobothblockAandblockB departments. 4Conclusions The current network is having some limitation to the organization, this is because the network is not fully integrated for the both blocks, therefore below are my findings that justify the implementation of the new network and elimination of the old network.
13Data Communications and Networking 4.1Findings i.The current network does not link the two buildings into the same network. ii.The current network does not support addition of new device to the network. iii.The current network does not support work at home for the developers. iv.The current network do not support wireless network connectivity. Therefore using the above findings the proposed network should be installed and there should be use of DHCP and web server, wireless routers, updated website and addition of computers and laptops which will facilitate the implementation of the new proposed network which as a result will improve the service delivery and efficiency in the organization (Stephen, 2013). .
